Drawing is the most common gift option for mom from children. But if the kids are not very worried about the quality of the work, then the older children want to do it “perfectly”, so as not to be ashamed to give. In fact, it is not so difficult, the main thing is to think over the topic of the work and perform it in stages, gradually, moving from large parts to smaller ones.
What to draw?
The question of the topic of work most often confuses, especially inexperienced artists. Here you can build on why the gift will be made - New Year, birthday, March 8. And you can proceed from the personal preferences of mom. A drawing of flowers, cute little animals or soft toys will be a good birthday present.
If there is little experience in drawing, or in general this type of creativity is difficult, you can stop at an abstraction or landscape. These genres do not require a clear drawing of details, strictly corresponding to reality, they are much easier to portray an inexperienced artist. In this case, you can use any fine tool - pencil, watercolor, gouache, wax crayons.
To make a beautiful drawing as a gift to mom, you need the following.
- Carefully consider a compositional solution. Composition is one of the most important stages in creating a drawing; its correct construction will allow you to complete the work correctly and accurately.
- Design a sketch. To do this, you just need to lightly, without pressure, draw a pencil to outline the contours of the future drawing, without drawing small details. This is a kind of "canvas", which later will be easier to draw.
- The final stage is the adjustment, adding color, shadow, volume to the picture. The main thing is not to overdo it, otherwise you can ruin everything.
If you choose the right topic, you can consider half the work done.
The theme provides a basis from which to build on the composition, if you can’t imagine the final result, then at least understand what to build on when choosing a plot, style, technique and execution of work.
How to draw?
You can draw a gift for your mother with anything - with a pencil, paints, crayons, oil. It all depends on what is more comfortable and more familiar with working with. But in any case, it is necessary to observe the phased work. In the case of a pencil, it is better to start with the image of simple geometric shapes, from which the depicted object subsequently looms.
For example, when depicting a teddy bear, you first need to draw ovals, schematically designating his head, trunk and legs. Then, smaller details are gradually worked out - ears, muzzle, eyes, fur. The next step will be the addition of color, shadows, the final completion of the picture.
Using a simple pencil, you can create a 3D effect by accurately painting the shadows and adding volume to the image. When working with paints (watercolors or gouache), the first steps are the same as using a pencil. But you can simplify the work. For example, when depicting a branch of blossoming sakura, you can skip the creation of the sketch and immediately proceed to the color embodiment of the work. To do this, curved lines are depicted with black or dark brown paint, connected to each other - this is directly a twig.
The next step will be the image of flowers. You can use such a life hack for this. An ordinary plastic bottle is taken, paint of the desired color is poured in the saucer. The bottom of the bottle is dipped in paint and applied to a leaf with a depicted branch. You do not need to hold the bottle for a long time, otherwise the paint will spread and you will just get a stain instead of a flower. You need to arrange the flowers sequentially, in a checkerboard pattern, but not too often.
This method is one of the simplest, allowing you to create a beautiful picture with your own hands, even to a person who is far from painting. In addition, you can recall the style of drawing the smallest children.
Possible techniques
There are many drawing techniques, it all depends on the materials used and the level of complexity of the work. Of course, for a mother, any gift made by the hands of children is the best, but you need to carry it out with the highest quality and accuracy so that it is pleasant to give. Young children most often use colored pencils, felt-tip pens or watercolor paints. Here is a small selection of techniques, especially when it comes to children under the age of 6-7 years.
From the age of 7-8 years old, children can already understand how to mix paints to get the right shade, they have an idea of the geometric shapes that are the basis of any pattern, they have a hand more or less put down, they can draw a relatively straight, straight line line. So, it will be easier for them to complete a neat, compositionally correct and believable drawing.
When using pencils, especially simple ones, most of the attention should be paid to the correct application of shadows, giving volume to the picture with the help of chiaroscuro, highlights, shades, etc.
Not so popular material as the same watercolor, but providing much wider opportunities for creativity - these are wax crayons. The use of iron gives very interesting effects. This technique is called encaustic. It is quite simple, you only need to practice a little to get your hand in full. In addition, you will need to stock up with a towel (so that the iron goes softer), with thick paper and napkins - wipe the sole of the iron.
The device itself should be as simple as possible, the presence of holes, new-fangled steaming functions is unacceptable. You need to work in the heating mode "nylon" or "nylon". In the “encaustic” technique, it is best to perform landscapes, abstractions. They turn out very original, effective, beautiful.
To get started, you need to prepare all the necessary materials, put a sheet of paper on a spread towel, turn on the iron. It is not necessary to make a sketch, it will not work anyway, relying on it. Encaustic is most often improvisation, moreover, unexpected. It is impossible to predict what the final result will be. You can only roughly imagine what will happen in the end.
After all the preparations are completed, you can begin to work. Chalk of the desired color is applied to the heated iron. After it warms up (it becomes liquid, but will not spread), the iron is turned over, they, barely touching the paper, are drawn along it in a horizontal direction.
Then the sole of the iron is wiped, a new color is applied. The steps are the same as when working with the first color. Or you can depict the hills by moving the iron in waves. To draw greens, you need to attach the sole of the iron to the paper and sharply remove it. You can work out the grass in more detail with the help of the nozzle or edges of the device, simply by moving them over the non-hardened paint.
When the painting is finished and the crayons are dry, they begin the final stage of work. It consists in rubbing the wax with a microfiber rag. After such processing, the picture will acquire a beautiful sheen. Work with wax crayons is not limited to one technique. There are several of them.
- Smoothing - when the sole of the iron is carried out, barely touching, on the paper in a horizontal direction.
- Impression - you need to attach the iron and abruptly remove it. Depending on how much pressure is applied to the paint and how fast the iron is torn off, the print will be sharper or smoother.
- With a nose draw thin lines.
- Rib depict long continuous stripes.
- Unusual, interesting effects are provided by the use of a hairdryer. You can use both ordinary household and special - it is called embossing.
Stunning results are obtained using several techniques, various materials in one work. Individual elements can not only be highlighted in a different color, but also made voluminous. This will give the picture a charm, make it unusual, spectacular, attracting attention.
Also, do not forget about the proper execution of the work. Beautiful, correctly selected both in size and color, the frame will emphasize the peculiarity of the drawing, give completeness to the whole composition and become a worthy frame for the picture.
