New Year's Eve is a special time that we spend with our loved ones. Important elements of these holidays are the Christmas decoration of the home and the gifts that we make to each other. This often raises the question of what is best to give. It is advisable to choose something practical that is useful at home. Of course, you should always consider the interests of the recipient, his favorite taste and style, which he prefers. Armed with such knowledge, we can safely go shopping.

However, there is nothing more soulful than the one of a kind - a handmade gift. In addition, the search for presents for all family members takes a lot of time. And the lines and crowds in the shops do not contribute to spending long hours in shopping centers. Therefore, when planning shopping for the New Year it is worth considering the possibility of making gifts with your own hands and make a list of items in advance. This will save time and avoid additional costs.

The simplest crafts

A great gift idea might be to buy souvenirs or necessary and practical items for every room in the house. It could be something for a kitchen, dining room, bedroom or bathroom. Ideally, such an item should be distinguished by both a good design and high practical properties.

Original budget egg cups, bowls, teapots, pans, trays, wine pails, crafts made from plywood and plasticine and other items are just examples of interesting New Year's gifts that will always come in handy at home.

However, much more original gifts can be made if you apply a little imagination in combination with some knowledge.

  • Painted wooden bowls. Decorate a simple wooden bowl or bowl with small designs such as polka dots, stripes, or flowers.
  • Make a cool collage of newspaper clippings on a topic, such as sports. You can add your favorite quote.
  • For women, you can make a gift from small hand towels and fragrant soaps. All that is needed is to wrap the soap with a towel in a certain way. Such a gift can become a favorite "mascot for the bathroom." To do this, put soap on a towel folded in a triangle. Roll up. Connect the ends together and tie them with an elastic band. Decorate with a red bow. Original horns and “moving eyes” can be bought at stationery or another store for small things. And make a nose out of a piece of any red sticker.
  • For grandmother - a jar with sewing accessories. Go to the haberdashery store and buy multi-colored spools of thread, needles of different sizes, and pins with multi-colored heads. Take the original jar with a decorative lid. Put a homemade pin pillow on it. Attach with threads. Add a note from Santa Claus - and you're done. Grandma will be thrilled.
  • For grandfather - a frame with pictures of grandchildren. Photo frame is a good gift for any occasion. Grandfather (and grandmother) will undoubtedly like the original present with photos of all their grandchildren. All you need to do is find the old frame and paint it in your grandfather's favorite color. Drill holes and pull the wire or thread through the frame to secure it. Insert a photo of all grandchildren into one or more frames.
  • You can pack a bottle with wrapping paper (this applies not only to alcohol, but also to all types of cosmetics). Then make a hat of Santa Claus. All we need is a piece of cloth or felt, cotton wool and a button. We glue the materials in the form of a hat, attach the nose of the button and the beard. We install the entire structure on a bottle.
  • Plasticine paintings. To obtain a picture of this plastic material, it is necessary to apply clay in layers. The first layer lay the elements farthest from the eyes, for example, the sky (blue plasticine). Then apply layers that should depict closer objects (the sun is yellow) and so on, until you get a landscape. Such paintings depicting New Year's themes can be presented for the New Year. They will become a rather original present.
  • Plywood gifts. This material has the widest range of applications. From it you can build a birdhouse, toys in the form of different animals, shelves, hangers or even a table lamp. Plywood is used for the manufacture of furniture - stools or coffee tables. This is a fairly durable material. But he is afraid of moisture. Therefore, it is desirable to proliferate and color products from it.

Plywood is easy to process. Even schoolchildren can easily cut simple objects out of it.

We create original souvenirs

Crafts made with their own hands are good above all for their uniqueness. Here are some original items that can be presented as a New Year's souvenir.

  • Necklace "bird's nest". From a thin wire and glass beads, form a cool necklace that looks like a bird's nest. To get an even more special necklace, you can use gems in combination with pearls.
  • Fancy lamp. Paint the base of the lamp in a color that is sweet to your heart, for example, green, blue or pink. Put any pattern on the lampshade. Connect the base to the patterned lampshade.
  • Stencil Scarves. Decorate your scarf with a simple design, such as flowers or feathers. Use your own design stencil and fabric paints for this.
  • Stone photo frame. Match stones of the same color to the photo frame. Glue them to the frame.Place a suitable photo inside to personalize your gift.
  • Colored vases. Paint the vase with wide stripes of different colors. Put fresh flowers in it.
  • Bowls with own drawing. Give porcelain a stylish look with ceramic paint. Your miniature bowls with a pattern will be a beautiful, creative surprise for everyone who loves to cook.
  • Painted handkerchiefs. Scarves are universal. Make your series of these items by coloring them with various patterns to your liking. And you can always have ready-made souvenirs for guests.
  • Lamps from the bottles. A glass or plastic bottle (preferably multi-colored) can be a unique Christmas decoration. All you have to do is put white or colored light bulbs inside them, and then turn it on. In an instant, an ordinary bottle will become a beautiful lamp!
  • Balloons with confetti. A very impressive New Year decoration is the confetti balloons. To do this, place confetti in a simple transparent balloon. Then place the colored ball in a transparent ball and inflate it. And you're done!
  • Colorful rain of balloons. Another way to use balloons is to place them on silver or gold foil attached to a lamp or ceiling. At midnight, just pull on the cord that will disconnect the foil from the mount. Balloons will fall to the ground like colored rain.
  • Fiery inscription. The original idea of decorating New Year's Eve is to decorate any inscription with matches. On New Year's Eve, it may be the phrase “Happy New Year!”. Spread it, for example, on a baking sheet. Matches can be glued to the surface with weak glue. Shortly before midnight, light all the matches, and when it is twelve, ask the guests to blow them out.
  • Colored sockets made of paper. Paper sockets made of multi-colored sheets of paper are ideal as a New Year wall decoration. To prepare them, you will need colored paper for wrapping gifts, a metal ruler, a pencil, a craft knife, a hole punch, scissors and a rope. Paper cut into strips can have different widths - the wider the strip of paper, the larger the outlet you are folding.
  • Sew a bag to carry books, magazines or crafts. Choose a fabric that matches the style of the person to whom you will present it.
  • Create a special laptop case for someone who is often on the go.
  • Give a pillow, which will be applied to an interesting drawing or an original (funny) quote, uplifting.

Or add the appropriate photo, emphasizing the individual approach.

Useful presentations

Homemade gifts can be useful. Let's consider some ideas of such presentations.

Handmade candles

Making a candle yourself is fairly easy, following simple guidelines.

  • The master class begins with the subjects used for this work. You will need wax (paraffin), a pan with a thick bottom, a bowl for dissolving wax in a water bath, a dye, a container (for example, a plastic cup or beer cans), a ready-made wick, a knife, a spatula to smooth the surface of the wax and a hair dryer.
  • Instead of buying ready-made paraffin, you can also use the remnants of unburned candles - it is the idea of disposing of unnecessary items. If you want the candle to contain additives, be sure to cook them - for example, lemon zest and others. You will also need aromatic oils.
  • Start by mixing the wax. It should be heated, but not in the microwave. It is best to use a pan with a very thick bottom, dissolving the wax in a water bath. This is pretty easy to do. Fill the pan with hot water about halfway, and place on it a suitable bowl in which to place the wax. Steam rising from the pot heats the bowl and causes the wax to slowly melt.As already mentioned, you can use either paraffin, purchased at the store, or the remains of different candles.
  • Prepare a candlestick mold. It can be, for example, a beer can or a plastic cup. Remember that when the candle hardens, you must cut the shape. It should be an object that you can easily cut with a knife. Of course, you can also make a candle in a glass. At the bottom of the finished form, place decorative elements, such as shells or chopped lemon zest.
  • To make a scented candle, add a few drops of scented oil and dye to the warm wax. If you do not want to use ready-made oils, you can choose a natural flavor - a pinch of cinnamon or vanilla for the cake will be ideal substances. Mix gently so that the paint and oil spread throughout the mass. If you do not want the candle to smell and stain, skip this step.
  • In the middle of the prepared form, put a wick. You can buy ready-made or use a wick from an old candle.
  • Carefully supporting the wick (be careful not to burn yourself), gradually pour out the liquid wax. Using a spatula, align it so that it is evenly distributed in the mold.
  • Put a candle on a freeze. Depending on how hot the wax was, it can take up to 12 hours. To speed up the process, you can blow dry the candle with a hairdryer.
  • When your decorative candle completely hardens, remove it from the mold. Cut a plastic cup or jar and discard it.

If you used glass, skip this step.

Washi Tape Candles

Start the decoration with ordinary simple candles, and then decorate them with washi patterns. Put them in candlesticks for a better demonstration.

Beeswax candles

Pour the melted wax into the candlesticks. Add flavors such as mocha or cinnamon. And the room will be filled with pleasant incense.

Mittens

A wonderful New Year's gift can be hand-made mittens. This gift is suitable for both adults and children.

The product is applied to a picture of snowflakes or deer.

Patterns can be made of felt of a different color.

    How to pack?

As gift wrapping, you can use plain white, gray or colored decorative paper, cardboard boxes, bags and even old newspapers. If you choose a template with a clear graphic motif of black, white, silver or gold material for gift wrapping, then located under the tree, it will look very impressive.

Glossy paper with a metallic effect makes packaging elegant. Remember that careful execution is important. There should be no noticeable glue, wrinkles or tape. If you can’t pack the goods yourself, buy decorative boxes.

Brown wrapping paper is the basis of packaging. Colors that blend harmoniously with it - green, red, black and even white. Using a sprig of spruce, a bunch of mountain ash or an ordinary black plastic card, you can beautifully highlight a gift.

Using a printer, you can print, for example, a deer by adding items cut from colored paper. Jars of brown cardboard look beautiful, decorated with a festive accent - a Christmas tree or a red bow.

A holiday gift will also look very attractive if it is packed in a decorative bag.

    • You can use various materials, such as velvet, embossed leather, felt, thick canvas. Each gift wrapping should always be decorated with an elegant satin ribbon, a ribbon with a winter motif, snow-white lace or a colored cord.
    • You can use several different colors. For example, if we pack gifts in fashionable eco-style in plain gray paper, then decorative thread of white and red colors will perfectly fit into this festive packaging.
    • New Year's gifts should also be decorated with small items that we can fasten with a tape or stick to the package. Accessories that can be used to decorate gift wrapping are enough. Small baubles, paper or metal stars, cones and pieces of bark, twigs, mountain ash or rose hips, dried flowers and even figures of small animals are perfect for this purpose.

Simple gray or white gift wrapping paper also looks beautiful, decorated with stamps of New Year's motives, for example, a snowflake.

It is very interesting to pack sweet gifts.

        • Giving cookies, sweets, homemade canned food, spices or handmade oils is a pleasure. Sweets are best placed in decorative boxes or jars. Dress them with a beautiful ribbon and put a few cakes.
        • Jams, jams, spices are most often found in jars that can be decorated with ribbon or lace. Do not forget to ennoble the lid of the jar with a beautiful festive pattern.
        • Instead of gray paper, you can use an unnecessary newspaper, an old book, a notebook with notes. A few Christmas accents - and we get an unusual finished packaging. The newspaper will be interesting to contrast with red and green ornaments. Such packaging will please lovers of simplicity and vintage style. Admittedly, this is an interesting alternative to paper with New Year's themes sold in stores.
        • You can also use colored paper from stationery, which it is advisable to decorate yourself or with the help of ready-made stickers.
        • Children will surely enjoy the gift of sweets decorated with Christmas balls, lanterns and garlands. You can also, instead of the traditional box, pack a gift, like candy.
