The cloak itself is a unique thing that always remains relevant. Indeed, in each new season, designers offer new models of raincoats, but no one even thinks to abandon them. What can we say for a classic cloak, which, by definition, should always remain relevant.

Materials

Classic raincoats are most often created from thin fabric, which has the properties of moisture and wind resistance. This material is even called like the clothes that are sewn from it. At least that was before. With the advent of new materials and fashion trends, designers increasingly prefer other fabrics.

Among this assortment are several options:

  • Leather is great for creating raincoats in a classic style. This material is worn well, does not get wet, does not lose its relevance, and also has the ability to combine with other clothes of various styles.
  • Raincoat fabric will always be used to create raincoats and other materials will not be able to completely displace it. The composition of this fabric includes cotton and synthetic fibers, which are specially processed. As a result, the material becomes waterproof. A raincoat fabric with a “memorial” effect is widespread, the essence of which is the ability to crumple during squeezing and quickly smooth out.
  • Gabardine is worn for a long time, has a resistance to intensive use, is easy to clean, is not prone to rubbing and keeps its shape perfectly.
  • Suede always has an expensive look, looks chic and easily combines in various looks. But this material easily gets wet, requires complex care, is expensive. A suede cloak can be bought for special occasions, but such an element of wardrobe will not work for every day.
  • Denim, especially dark, can also be used to make classic raincoats.
  • Velveteen looks unusual, one might even say aristocratic.
  • Cotton, in particular mercerized. With the help of modern fiber processing, cotton acquires the properties necessary for outerwear. This material looks more expensive and noble, it becomes comfortable to use during the off-season.

Colors

In general, any color is acceptable for raincoats, here designers do not limit themselves. But if we are talking about classic raincoats, then only a few options can be distinguished:

  • The black;
  • Grey;
  • Beige;
  • Blue.

Types of Classic Raincoats

A classic raincoat is a common name that combines several varieties of outerwear.

Burberry cloak first appeared in 1856. This clothing was introduced by Thomas Burberry, who specialized in the manufacture of sportswear. Burberry Cloak was a gabardine trench coat, which was used as a uniform by soldiers, detectives, spies.

After so much time, a similar cloak is actively used in men's and women's fashion. Such raincoats have a number of distinctive characteristics:

  • shoulder straps with buttons serve as an element of decor;
  • the lapel with buttons warms the chest and protects from the wind;
  • adjustable cuffs;
  • use of breathable material;
  • a fabric belt can be tied in front or back;
  • woolen lining with removable construction.

The trench coat is the progenitor of classic raincoats. It is so versatile that it can be worn with almost any clothing.

The trench coat can be compared with a small black dress, because it should also be in every women's wardrobe. This cloak is double-breasted, so girls with large breasts should carefully look at such clothes. Buttons located in two rows in the upper part of the cloak will add a little volume.

The English classic cloak differs from its brothers in the following number of features:

  • the silhouette is fitted, but not very narrow;
  • the collar is small but closed;
  • disguised buttons that are hidden behind two slats;
  • slotted pockets, which are often equipped with flaps or leaflets;
  • shoulder straps are absent, and the presence of a belt is optional.

What to wear?

Getting acquainted with classic raincoats, we could not ignore the issue of combining them with other clothes.

The raincoats in the classic version are perfectly combined with almost any clothing, but a detailed review will still not be superfluous.

  • You can choose any jeans and trousers, focusing on your personal preferences and sense of style.
  • Dresses and skirts look good with raincoats that have a belt or belt. In this case, the cloak should completely cover the clothes. Unacceptable even a few centimeters of the hem, which will peek out from under the cloak.
  • With what shoes to wear classic raincoats is another pressing issue that worries many fashionistas. First of all, it is worth considering boots and high heel shoes. This selection of shoes is especially relevant for long models. Options with a flat sole can be considered, but the combination of clothes and shoes in this case should be ideal.
  • Jewelry can be present in the image, but the cloak in this case should have the most restrained style. You can add a watch or bracelet, laconic earrings, a chain with a small pendant to the classic look. The main thing is not to overdo it. It’s not necessary to wear all the best at once.
  • The bag can be large and roomy or a small type of clutch.
