Home clothes should be comfortable to bring a sense of comfort. Many people choose bright and unusual kigurumi, which can be increasingly seen not only in sleepwear stores, but even on passers-by on the street.

Features

Kigurumi is a jumpsuit with fasteners along the abdomen, most often with long sleeves, trouser-legs and, certainly, a hood. This product has a loose fit, often larger than the required size. One of the features is the image of famous anime characters, cartoons, fairy tales and the embodiment of their external features.

Initially, this type of sleepwear came from Japan, but now they are worn all over the world, including in Russia. Kigurumi quickly gained popularity not only among young people who are fond of anime, but also with everyone who likes soft plush costumes, bright colors and associations with their favorite characters and animals. The origins are carnival costumes and clothing for cosplayers.

From the carnival kigurumi broke into the category of home clothes, and entrenched there thanks to its main qualities - soft and warm material, funny design. Soon after distribution, they began to be used not only as pajamas, but also as everyday outfits. Many even manage to play sports in them, for example, snowboarders, skiers, skateboarders.

No less popular are kigurumi at parties, both pajama and costume. Depending on where the kigurumi is worn, they can be worn both on a naked body, and on top of clothes or even a warm sports uniform.

Models

Kigurumi is a jumpsuit, but even it may have some differences in style. For example, this is the length of the legs and sleeves. Most often they are long, but occasionally there are products with shortened ones. Some models pass from trousers directly to socks or from sleeves to “paws” - gloves or mittens.

Most of all the diversity in the individual elements, not cut pajamas. Pockets can be patch, welt on the sides or it is all alone on the stomach or chest.

On the sleeves and the edge of the legs most often there are elastic bands or cuffs, but there are models that do without these details. As for the fastener, the use of rivets is a priority, but in general, buttons and zippers are also appropriate. Some kigurumi models are presented with a “pocket” in the buttocks so that it can be unfastened if necessary.

Each kigurumi model is individual, because it certainly has some special qualities of the character or animal being portrayed. The similarity is achieved not only with the painted face on the hood, but also with additional sewn-in elements - wings, tails, ears. Using color, you can simulate the presence on the character of clothing, for example, overalls.

Kigurumi is considered unisex clothing that does not even have age restrictions. Therefore, in pair and family pajamas you are unlikely to find any differences, unless you sew costumes to order.

Trends

Kigurumi can be divided into basic models and fantasy. In the case of the first - this is a regular monophonic jumpsuit with a hood. But the biggest category, of course, is the second, because it includes pajamas that depict recognizable characters. The most common images are animals and cartoon characters, less often movie heroes, because it is difficult for them to give a cartoony shape.

In the category of animals, not only four-legged mammals are used, but even birds, fish, and dinosaurs. Among all, we can distinguish several images that are most in demand.

Raccoons and red pandas often have the same faces, so they differ in color: raccoons are gray-black, pandas are red-black. Both those and others have a muzzle lined with applique, sewn ears and a striped tail. Kigurumi panda is two-tone (black and white) with a large-eyed muzzle, round ears and a small tail. Kigurumi cats have many options for attractive faces and color schemes: some may be plain with prominent tummies, others may be striped or multi-colored. The same large amount of variety is observed in dog costume models.

Some models are not completely standard and are not limited to traditional ears and tail. The fox pajamas are three-colored (red, black, white), with a tail and always ears, but the muzzle is either embroidered or similarity is achieved by the special style of the hood. A spotted three-colored giraffe with a light belly has a very realistic head, because it has not only ears, but also horns, and a voluminous nose. The main difference between gray and white with the addition of black lemur is a long tail dragging along the ground with a filler, like in toys. An integral part of the kigurumi in the form of an owl is a sewn-in embroidery that imitates the painted wings launched from the edge of the sleeve to the sides.

There are favorites among the characters of cartoons and fairy tales, although there are no less models than animals. Multi-colored unicorns without fail have a horn and a "mane" thrown over the hood, and sometimes wings on their backs. Kigurumi-pikachu are always bright yellow, with a zigzag tail, and the face has red cheeks and long drooping ears.

A good pairing option would be cartoon aliens - blue Stich and his pink girlfriend Angel, whose features are fangs on the edge of the hood.

There were also no cats: an anime smiling Totoro with gray stripes on a white belly and a bright striped Cheshire Cat.

Structure

Kigurumi are sewn from soft, warm, breathable, pleasant to the touch, non-wet materials. Most often they use fleece, flannel, velor, less often polyester and velosoft. They are hypoallergenic, and therefore suitable for everyone, will not cause discomfort and will not harm even delicate baby skin.

Cloth details (ears, tails) and appliqués are sewn on, since glued ones may not last long enough and fall off quickly. Most often, the eyes and some elements of the muzzle are embroidered. Buttons, rivets, and zippers are used as accessories.

Kigurumi quickly launders in a washing machine in a delicate mode and in water no higher than thirty degrees. Such pajamas should not be tumble dried, ironed, bleached.

Futujama brand

The Russian brand, which began with the VKontakte group and ordering basic pajamas from China. Having started its work in 2012, over the course of several years they have become a real brand of home clothes with their own production in Russia. They have their own fashion designers and their own model line, but in addition they continue to cooperate with other Chinese and Russian manufacturers, diluting the assortment with partners' products. In their store you can find not only pajamas, but also slippers, basic clothes, overalls, plaid pajamas and, of course, kigurumi.

In their catalog are presented kigurumi not only of their own brand Futujama, but also of the Funky Ride brand. Costumes of both those and others are sewn from fleece and are presented in a wide assortment. If Futujama is more focused on the pajama and walking version of the kigurumi, then the products of the second brand are wide in cut, which makes them ideal for wearing over a sports uniform. Futujama introduced pair and family kigurumi into production, so pajamas can be found for both adults and the smallest.

How to choose?

When choosing a kigurumi, you should pay attention to the ratio of growth and size. This can be done according to special tables, but it is best to try on the product. The fact is that such pajamas are very loose-fitting, and in things that are too large, some can simply get confused, which will not bring any pleasure.

It is necessary to check how pleasant the fabric is to the touch before buying a suit, especially if you use it as pajamas, and not casual clothes. The softest are velor and fleece. Yes, and the product itself must be sewn with high quality, so that threads do not stick out anywhere, parts and accessories do not fall off.

The choice of style depends only on personal preferences and tastes. Some models can be divided into female and male, for example, a unicorn with a blue or pink belly, but in fact, you should take the kigurumi pajamas that you like most.

How much is?

Mostly in Russian stores and communities on social networks adhere to the same price category. Pajamas ordered from China and resold from us may cost lower than those that are sewn directly from domestic manufacturers. The price rarely depends on the model, even if it has a large number of decorative details, for example, tails, horns, wings.

Since kigurumi can be said to be unisex clothing, the difference of which is only in size, there is no breakdown of prices for male, female and children's models. Most often, it is one and varies from a thousand to four thousand rubles, depending on the material used. Old collections and unpopular models are often discounted.

The price for paired and family kigurumi is higher than for a single product, but lower than for two or three identical models, purchased separately. The price of family kigurumi is approximately six thousand rubles.

Reviews

If kigurumi are sewn from quality material, then the reviews are mostly the most positive. They relate to the softness of the material, the comfort of such pajamas and its warmth. Cheaper models ordered from China may not correspond to the declared quality, which is why not very satisfied reviews are taken.

In any case, pay attention to fasteners, as sometimes they tend to fall off clothes from any manufacturers.

Owners note the convenience of the model, despite the presence of tails, ears, wings and other things. The kigurumi has a comfortable hood, quite loose, but it doesn’t “choke” if it becomes necessary to sleep on its head.

Many buyers note the impossibility of quickly removing such pajamas, which is sometimes very inconvenient. For some, the presence of tails on models prevents sitting and lying down.
