A dog is a friend of man. Everyone has known this since childhood. Having heard this expression, few people will think about its meaning, but, most likely, will miss it “by the ears”, as something banal and inconsequential. Meanwhile, these simple words accurately reveal how the relationship between a person and a dog should be built. The history describes many extreme situations when four-legged friends saved the lives of people literally.

There are many breeds of these cleverest animals, which are very different from each other in purpose, behavior and other biological characteristics. First you need to decide what the dog is for: security, dog shows, a decorative option, rescue from loneliness or something else. Then you need to familiarize yourself not only with the external data of the selected breed, but also with the conditions of detention, character, ability to train, possible pros and cons of the future pet.

Only after that you can go to the nursery. Miniature pinscher is one of the breeds that dog lovers often choose.

Short description

Zwerg in translation from German means “dwarf”, “gnome”, hence the name of the breed - dwarf pinscher, miniature pinscher. These are miniature service dogs whose appearance strongly resembles Doberman pinschers. As a result of this, the nickname of the mini-Doberman was firmly entrenched in their everyday life. Miniature Pinschers as a breed appeared in Germany more than 300 years ago (the first records date back to the 15th century). Purebred breeding began in Germany at the end of the XIX century, the breed received an approved standard.

Miniature pinschers are distinguished by a strong proportional physique, attractive appearance, and graceful posture. These small dogs weighing only 3-4 kg (up to 6 kg) and growing at the withers of 25-30 cm can live 12-15 years. Long strong limbs and always tucked up belly characterize the harmony of the breed. The coat is short, stiff, the hair is dense, there is no developed undercoat, therefore, in cold weather, these dogs should be walked in special dog clothes (sold in pet stores).

Temperament

The small size (no more than the average cat) and the miniature appearance of the tsvergs can create the illusion of fragility and cowardice, but such an opinion is deceptive. These are very agile, courageous, selfless dogs, ready to protect the master everywhere and everywhere.

They have a security instinct, are easily trained in official skills, and can be successful guards and watchmen.

The nature energetic, temperamental, self-confident, fearless, without hesitation can start a brawl with a stronger and larger opponent, the outcome of which the owner has to intervene. But the epithets “aggressive, whacky” are clearly not about them. With proper upbringing and competent training, these are balanced and friendly pets.

Advantages

The peculiar nature of the miniature pinscher is far from suitable for all people for a comfortable and comfortable life, therefore the advantages and disadvantages of the breed must be studied in advance. Significant advantages:

  • miniature sizes allow you to keep miniature pinschers even in small apartments;
  • good health without hereditary diseases;
  • possess high endurance, easily accompany the owner during long walks over long distances;
  • have a delicate ear and impeccable scent;
  • the nature of the coat (without undercoat) and the absence of visible molting ensure that the apartment does not show significant traces of hair and hair, which is important for people prone to allergic manifestations, and also greatly simplifies the care of both animals and housing;
  • the smell of doggy does not spread, it is enough to treat the sweating pet with wet sanitary napkins and wipe it dry with a cotton towel;
  • not picky in nutrition, but you need to carefully monitor that the feed is balanced and high-calorie, since the zwerg are very mobile and quickly spend a lot of energy;
  • possess a developed security instinct, can successfully cope with the protection of an apartment or a small house area;
  • respond well to training, learn to understand and execute commands at the level of large service dogs, quickly get used to obedience;
  • completely devoted to the owner, constantly “monitor” the situation around him for the threat of external danger;
  • accustom to the tray, which eliminates the need for walking during inclement weather or severe cold.

disadvantages

Of the minuses, the following can be noted:

  • too high activity (in some cases, hyperactivity);
  • desperate cocky character, the ability to fight with relatives at the earliest opportunity and in any conditions of the battle, despite the superior enemy forces;
  • make sharp sounds of a loud piercing bark, far from being pleasant to everyone by ear;
  • the tsverg is mistrustful of strangers, of the host’s guests, if he suddenly suspects something is wrong, he can easily tear off guests' clothes, or even bite his leg — the host needs an “eye and an eye” behind him;
  • poorly tolerates loneliness: a dog left unattended can arrange a real pogrom in the house, ruin furniture upholstery, gnaw shoes and wires;
  • barks loudly, resists and can bite if you have to take away from the dog some object that he liked, so there is a constant need to ensure that everything that is valuable or dangerous is in an inaccessible place;
  • the need for high physical exertion to neutralize energy, which requires long walks and considerable distance walks;
  • the genetic location (from the ancestral ancestors) to the digging of the earth, so when walking you will have to watch vigilantly that a flowering flowerbed on a site or green plantings in a park do not instantly turn into potholes and potholes;
  • the tsvergs are smart, but cunning dogs, basically obey the owner if they feel his authority and a “firm hand”, the rest of the household poorly obey, self-willed, try to manipulate, which is a significant minus of the breed, as in life there are situations when the owner has to leave for a long time (business trip, trip on vacation, illness, something else).

These restrained mobile mini-Dobermans are suitable for comfortable ownership of active, energetic people with a strong character and leadership inclinations. Domestic people with a measured life and people with poor health should not buy a miniature pinscher.

The decision to get a dog is a very responsible step. We must thoroughly weigh the pros and cons so that we do not have to bitterly regret it.

It is painful to see homeless animals on the streets, hungry, unkempt, sick, peering with bewilderment at passers-by - are there any beloved hosts among them. The eyes of these unfortunate people express human suffering without words.

      To prevent this from happening, you need to think through the main aspects of the pet’s stay in the apartment in advance and take into account the attitude of all households towards pets, a well-balanced decision is needed - emotions and spontaneity are unacceptable here. You must understand that a dog is not a toy, but a living creature that has the right to a dignified, happy life. In response, the four-legged friend will please the hosts more than once with high intelligence (according to the dog handlers) and various talents, and will again and again prove his loyalty.
