When purchasing modern technology, few users think about how to clean the iron with a steam cleaner from descaling at home or how to maintain a steam cleaner in order. Meanwhile, there are care measures to avoid the formation of scale and reduce its formation in the future. Before cleaning the Tefal steam generator, which is popular today, it is worth carefully studying the manufacturer's recommendations so as not to spoil the expensive device.
Using the self-cleaning function
The formation of scale is not the only cause for concern, but it is precisely it that is most dangerous for heating appliances.
The need to clean the Tefal steam generator most often arises in connection with a possible deterioration in its performance. If the steam holes are clogged with salt deposits, the processing intensity will be noticeably reduced.
Not every iron or steam cleaner can be easily and simply brought into optimal working condition. The easiest way to do this is with a station that has a self-cleaning function. The presence of such an opportunity will be indicated by the marking on the package: Anti calc or Calc clean. It is possible to clean the device using the integrated system without unnecessary efforts. First of all, a similar option is in the Tefal GV series models.
The steam cleaner, which has a similar option, is equipped with a special button on the outside of the device. When pressed and held for 2 seconds, a filter is activated, which is located between the pump and the container-tank for water. The self-cleaning button activates leaching of contaminants and plaque by means of liquid and steam supplied under pressure.
The procedure for self-cleaning a steam generator or iron will be as follows:
- the water tank must be filled with distilled water at 100%;
- the device is plugged in, warmed up to maximum temperature values, after turning off the light indication, the equipment is de-energized;
- the device thus prepared is transferred to the sink (preferably metal), placed with the sole down;
- the self-cleaning button is pressed, the set time is held;
- with proper operation of the system, dirt, rust, scale will leak out of the sole; a steam jet may appear;
- cleaning is carried out until the water flows out completely, with periodic shaking of the sole - if the liquid remains dark until the last, it is better to repeat the procedure;
- upon completion of maintenance, the reservoir of the device is washed with clean running water and dried.
It is recommended to repeat all stages of self-cleaning at least 1 time per month - this will allow to maintain the device in good working condition.
Folk remedies
What to do if washing the iron or steam cleaner Tefal inside to be at home? In this case, you can speed up the process using folk remedies. The simplest solution is a citric acid solution.
- 25 g of citric acid and 1 l of water are mixed until smooth (without visible crystalline grains).
- The mixture is poured into the tank of the iron or steam cleaner. Passive exposure time - from 15 to 25 minutes.
- After the specified time, the maximum temperature is selected on the steam generating device. In steaming mode, the technician must completely completely get rid of the liquid. To speed up the process, simultaneous ironing of unnecessary cotton material is performed.
- Upon completion of cleaning, the device cools down, clean water is poured into its tank, aged for 15 minutes, drained. The procedure is repeated up to 3 times - to completely remove traces of citric acid from the system.
Acetic cleaning is no less effective and allows you to further remove carbon deposits from the surface of the sole. In this case, the folk method involves the use of natural products. Vinegar (not essence) is diluted in equal proportions with water, then the mixture is poured into the tank of the steam station in an amount sufficient to cover 25% of its total displacement. After that, the device is kept off for 20 minutes, then the steam generation mode is set to full power, the device is heated and ironing of an unnecessary piece of fabric is started.
After all the liquid has evaporated, the tank is thoroughly washed with clean water. It is enough to repeat this procedure 2-3 times.
In the process of using this cleaning method, it is important to ensure intensive ventilation of the room. Vinegar vapors have a not very pleasant smell.
Dry cleaning
Cleaning Tefal Anti-Calc gives good results. But not all devices are equipped with a level sensor for soles and the system as a whole. In addition, pump stations are not suitable for home cleaning due to the complexity of their design. Flowing allow self-descaling. Moreover, the system may shut down and not work until the blockage has occurred, protecting the mechanism from damage.
Modern manufacturers of household chemicals successfully produce ready-made compositions for cleaning irons and flow-type steam generators.
- Topper The liquid is sold in 250 ml packages, before being poured into the tank, it is diluted with distilled water in a ratio of 1 to 3. The mixture is placed inside the device, it is heated, and then disconnected from the network. The exposure time is 2 hours, after this time you need to rinse the container with water. The procedure is repeated 2-3 times to completely remove salt deposits.
- Top house. German cleaner for steam generators and similar appliances. The gel-like composition is diluted with water in a ratio of 1 to 2, poured into the tank.Further, the device placed vertically is heated to a maximum temperature, disconnected from the network and left to act for 10 minutes. After that, the container is thoroughly washed and the liquid is evaporated, achieving the release of all exfoliated contaminants.
- Mellerud BIO. It acts by analogy with other means, the gel is mixed with water and left to act. The country of origin is Germany.
Scale Prevention
To avoid the failure of a steam cleaner or an iron with a steaming function from Tefal, you need to pay some attention to observing the rules for its operation.
In particular, it is best to use specially prepared distilled or demineralized water to flush and refuel the tank. A liquid obtained through a reverse osmosis filter is also suitable.
Normal tap water is categorically not suitable for these purposes. - it must first be softened with a special tool for irons.
This approach will avoid annoying damage, will the best measure for preventing scale formation. In addition, you must follow the recommended schedule for cleaning the tank from contamination. Then the risks of damage to the device will be minimal.
