Hair coloring in recent decades has become so popular that approximately 8 out of 10 women use it on an ongoing basis. And it is not surprising - after all, changing the color of the hair, we completely change our color type, and therefore our entire appearance. Dyed hair looks young, healthy and full of strength. Fashionable trends in dyeing emphasize the creation of a game of color shades of hair.

To achieve this, specialists use various methods of radical staining or light tinting. Before you go to the hairdresser for a new hairstyle, experts advise you to consider not only the shape of the haircut, but also the shades of the color scheme, which can most advantageously emphasize all the advantages of your hair in the hairstyle.

What it is?

Experts believe that at the peak of popularity, staining techniques such as shatush, balayazh and ombre have firmly taken a leading position today. Based on these techniques, you can apply the most unexpected options for using color shades, creating various options for images - from gentle and romantic to bright and bold. But in order to understand what painting technique to choose for yourself, you need to have a clear idea of what their essence is and what are the differences between these methods.

Such romantic names as ombre, balayazh, shatush, California highlighting, bronding, sombre and many others are capable of confusing anyone and suggesting that they all are not much different from each other. But this is far from the case. The essence of the difference is that all these types have their own special dye application schemes, the stretching of the dye is performed differently, the dye exposure time on the hair varies. Thus, using various nuances in the technique, hair coloring is obtained differently. Let's take a closer look at each type of staining.

Ombre

Such an unusual name the method received for a reason. For the French, the word "ombre" means "shadow", and France has always been considered a trendsetter. The essence of ombre dyeing just implies the creation of a very blurred, like a shadow, transition from one color to another on a common canvas of hair. Initially, it was planned that with a dark basal zone, the color, gradually moving to the ends of the strands, changes to a light tone. But stylists subsequently began to use not only natural shades, but also rather bright multi-colored tones. Thus, ombre today is of the following types:

  • classical - the transition of color shades is kept at the border of 1-2 tones, no more, so this color difference is very soft and natural;
  • with a contrast strip - the essence of dyeing is that if you visually divide the hair sheet into three parts in the horizontal direction, the upper and lower parts will be lighter, and the part between them will be slightly darker;
  • partial staining - this method is used if the haircut is made in layers, and to emphasize each layer, certain strands make a little brighter than the rest;
  • highlighting - such an ombre implies the creation of light glare areas that seem to highlight some strands in the total mass of hair; this technique looks especially beautiful on blond hair;
  • contrasting monochrome - a rather bold decision, when two contrasting colors are used, and the mixing border is very visually highlighted;
  • color - such coloring is not suitable for everyone, because it is based on bright unusual colors - pink, purple, turquoise, dark blue, shades of green and others;
  • inverse type - staining is built on the principle of “the opposite”; if your hair is naturally dark in color, but it is lightened in the basal region, and if you are blonde, you do it; on the contrary, the hair is dyed dark at the roots, and the ends are light;
  • strands of fire tongues - this technique involves dyeing strands in bright red or copper-red shades on dark hair, simulating a flame; the color transition may be blurry, and the choice of strands may be chaotic.

Coloring the hair using the ombre technique allows you to visually create a large volume of hair, and you can return to the original monochrome color at any time and quite simply - for this, cut the ends of the hair.

Shatush

In this method of staining, a little more shades are already used - usually 2-3. But they should be selected as close as possible to the original color of your strands. In the process of dyeing, the paint is as if stretched through the hair, and the strands themselves are not covered in foil. Such a stretch of paint helps to achieve a natural transition from color to color, and visually it looks like your hair is slightly burnt out in the sun. The highlights that have turned out on the hair create a play of color and add liveliness to the hairstyle.

The technique of applying paint when painting cranks is of two types.

  • First view - performed after clean and dried hair is lifted from the roots by combing with a comb with frequent and tonic teeth. Many hairs are mixed up with each other and when applying paint to them, a more natural staining effect of the strands is achieved.
  • Second view - stretching the paint on the strands is done without combing. To achieve the effect of naturalness, use a special brush-comb.Performing such laborious work requires certain skills and patience from the master, the procedure takes much more time than when applying dye to combed strands.

The shatush technique is considered one of the most gentle methods in dyeing hair. The most simple in execution and spectacular looks are the shatusha on dark hair, and the owners of blond curls will have to intentionally darken the area of the root zone to create a contrast effect. This method of revitalizing the color of your strands is also good because it helps to quickly and easily switch from the annoying highlighting previously performed on the hair.

But the most important thing is to find an experienced master who will perfectly perform this procedure, since it is the quality of execution that is the key to success.

Balayazh

This technique has something in common with a shuttle woman, it also uses 2-3 dye colors and achieves a glare effect on the total mass of hair, with glare being located in arbitrary chaos. The balayazh technique differs from the ombre in that the border of the transitions to the balayazh is even softer and invisible, it should not be visible at all and even more so look defiantly bright. In French, the word balayazh means “sweeping,” and the dyeing technique itself involves applying paint to the hair with movements that mimic sweeping. When staining, the strands are not covered with foil - the whole process of oxidation of the dye occurs either with open access of oxygen, or under a polymer film.

There is another interesting point in the process of applying the coloring matter - the staining result will look different if the paint is applied in the form of a Latin V or Russian letter S. This approach leads to smooth transitions of color shades, subsequently less need correction after regrowth of strands. The staining technique is quite laborious and requires high skill of execution; you yourself are unlikely to be able to reproduce this procedure at home. Coloring in the style of balayazh can be done on natural hair, it is suitable for dyed hair, and will also help those who are already faced with the problem of masking the initial stage of gray hair.

The main differences

At first glance, it might seem that all three staining techniques are similar to each other, but there are significant differences between them.

    • Visual naturalness. The crank and the hut will look in the most naturalistic way, since they provide very soft transitions and use dyes of natural colors. The ombre technique allows the use of sharp transition lines and the use of an extravagant palette of colors.
    • The scheme of applying the dye. Evenly on the strands the paint is applied only according to the ombre technique, while in the other two methods of staining, the coloring matter is arranged in strands in a chaotic manner.
    • Possibility of coloring on combed strands. If you choose a balayazh technique, you do not have to create a pile on the strands, and then disassemble it. Two other coloring techniques allow the pigment to be applied to the combed strands for a smooth distribution of color glare.
    • Location of light tones. In this question, each method is unique. The ombre technique involves highlighting the ends of the strands, the shatushi accentuates the strands with light shades from the middle of the curl, and the balayazh touches the hair along the entire length with light tones.
    • The optimal size of the strands in length. To obtain the desired effect, the length of the hair is of great importance. Balayazh will be appropriate for the average length of the hair, but the longer they are, the more beautiful the coloring looks. Ombre does not make sense if the hair has not reached the length at least to the middle of the neck. If you have a short haircut, then you can only create a game of color and highlights by using the shuttles technique.

    As a rule, coloring performed on long or medium hair does not require correction.You can calmly grow your hair further, while the regrown staining will not look untidy. If you have chosen a hut for yourself, then be prepared for the fact that after 2-3 months you will again have to repeat the painting procedure.

    Difference with other techniques

    It is worth considering in more detail what the difference is with other methods of hair coloring.

    • In addition to the traditional ombre, a hairdresser can suggest that you do sombre staining. Both of these techniques are similar, but sombre painting technology implies a softer and more gentle approach. Transitions of shades will not be so sharp, and the colors will look more calm.
    • If you want to achieve the highest degree of naturalness of shades and at the same time get hair with light strands that seem to be burnt out in the sun, pay attention to American dyeing technique called California Highlighting. Lightening occurs on thin strands, and the use of aggressive, powerful brightening agents is not implied in the coloring process - the strands are literally lightened by 1-2 tones, and then they are tinted with coloring compounds with a low percentage of oxidizing agent to give them the necessary shade. The highlighting of the strands is done from the crown along the entire length of the hair.

    This method is fundamentally different in its execution technique from ombre, crank and balayazh, although the idea of creating light glare on their hair is common.

    • No less popular and in demand is the highlighting method, which is called bronding. Its essence lies in the fact that the effect of iridescence of several color shades close to each other is created. Such combinations can be from the lightest blond palettes to chestnut and copper options - dyeing can be performed on hair of any length and color. Strands of hair are subject to chaotic dyeing, but success depends on how masterfully the master can pick out the shades of shades and in what order they will be distributed among the strands. Bronding is considered the most complex and even in some way jewelry coloring method. But if it is done professionally, the effect will be simply amazing.

    Which is better to choose?
