The chestnut color is famous for its versatility and looks great in different shades. One of the most popular is the tone of frosty chestnut, which, thanks to Hollywood celebrities, has been trending for several years. This shade was first introduced to the general public in 2013, since then it has gained a large number of fans around the world.
Shade description
Frosty chestnut is the coldest version of brown hair and contains a rich base of green pigment. Thanks to his presence, the strands acquire ashy notes that reduce the warmth of a classic chestnut to nothing. Very often, this shade is used as a transitional color when dyeing black hair with brown hair, and also after unsuccessful dyeing, if necessary, to neutralize too bright copper or red curls.
Ash shade on brown hair requires careful selection of haircuts, always clean and well-groomed hair. Otherwise, it will look dull and unsightly, visually adding a few extra years.
But with a well-chosen image, as well as the full compliance of the frosty chestnut and hairstyle, the shade begins to work miracles: it produces an impressive effect on others, makes the woman mysterious and charming. However, despite its popularity and "media" of the majority of owners of frosty chestnut, the decision to dye your hair in this color should be approached with some caution.
This applies to almost all cold shades, which are not suitable for everyone.
Who is it for?
The shade of frosty chestnut is considered a rather demanding tone and is mainly suitable for women with a "cold" appearance. The key points of compatibility are blue or gray eyes and pinkish skin. In other cases, a frosty chestnut hair will give the face a tired expression and some "tear." Dark skin is also allowed, but slight pinking should still be present. The same applies to the cheeks: they should also have a pinkish tint, which, however, is easy to achieve with makeup.
In addition to the color of the skin and eyes, you should pay attention to the veins: they should have a uniform blue color and be clearly visible on the wrists. Also, the original hair color should be considered. For example, it is better for blondes not to risk it, not to stain immediately in a frosty chestnut. This is due to the presence of pigment in the dye, which on fair hair can give not an ashen, but a greenish tint, it can be removed only by repainting in a darker color.
However, these recommendations are somewhat generalized. Many spectacular owners of the shade frosty chestnut belong to the "summer" type. They have dark skin and warm brown eyes. therefore compatibility of appearance and hair color should be determined purely individually, taking into account not only the phenotype of a woman, but also her manner of dressing, as well as the structure and length of hair. So, on long haircuts, a frosty chestnut looks more impressive than on short ones. This is due to the fact that long hair is able to flow and play in the light, thereby revealing the depth of the shade and allowing others to fully enjoy it.
Tool selection
After the decision to dye your hair is made, you need to take care of the choice of dye. For this, tonics, mousses, paints and gels of well-known, trusted manufacturers can be used. The last point is mandatory for the following reasons:
- frosty chestnut is a very complex shade, so the coloring composition should clearly correspond to the color declared on the package and not give side effects;
- for the same reason, special resistance of the coloring matter is desirable, since a frosty chestnut that loses saturation will not look very aesthetically pleasing; it will be very disappointing if with a touch it was planned to go not before the first wash, but much longer.
That is why for coloring in frosty chestnut it is strongly recommended to choose only high-quality compositions of famous manufacturers.
The modern market offers a wide selection of formulations from firms such as Revlon, L'Oreal, Garnier and Syoss. If you want to get a light shade, then you can limit yourself to mousses, which are abundantly present in the lines of these companies. If you need to paint over gray hair, the amount of which exceeded 50% of the total hair volume, then the optimal solution would be resistant paint frosty chestnut, which is also present in their assortment.
Highlighting option
If a frosty chestnut is absolutely unsuitable for type, and you really want to become the owner of such a shade, you can consider a lightweight version with the presence of highlighted strands. In such cases, the choice of highlight color is carried out taking into account the individual characteristics of appearance, they are guided by the color of the skin, native hair and eyes. So, for owners of milky white skin with a lack of blush on their cheeks, strands of the color ashen blond are quite suitable.
This shade harmonizes very well with frosty chestnut, but adds even more “cold” to the look of a woman. In addition to light ash tones, copper, caramel, red and light brown shades can be used for highlighting, which are quite suitable for women with dark skin and a "warm" type of appearance.
