The main component of the image of a modern girl is a beautiful hairstyle, which provides not only the original haircut, but also the corresponding shade of hair. Among the many colors, mahogany deserves special attention. It is represented by a rich palette, so it is easy to choose it for any image of a lady.

Who is it for?

Color mahogany is considered one of the most fashionable, because it suits all women regardless of their age. The only thing that when choosing it should be to consider the type of appearance. The mahogany tone can be either dark, chestnut, or have a smooth transition to a pale red palette. You can achieve the effect of a chic hairstyle with this color both in professional beauty salons and at home. Before embarking on a “creative process” for painting curls, you should know who exactly suits the mahogany tone.

Stylists advise girls with an autumn color type to use this color, as it suits them best. Red shades are ideally complemented by dark skin and dark eyes (black or brown). Mahogany shades are recommended for owners of natural brown, blond or slightly red hair. Despite the fact that this color is mainly chosen by mature ladies, today many girls dye their hair after 20 years.

This is because the mahogany provides a unique opportunity to change your image beyond recognition, add stateness, solidity and make the hair more voluminous.

Before making drastic changes to the image by dyeing hair in a given color, the girl needs to weigh all the pros and cons of such a transformation. It is important to consider the following nuances.

  • The rich shade of mahogany can both favorably emphasize the advantages of appearance and highlight existing defects. So, for example, after painting curls, redness on the face, vascular networks and freckles may become more noticeable.
  • Mahogany hair is well suited for purposeful individuals who have a talent in the field of exact sciences and finance.
  • This color also looks unusual on painted dark chestnut or dark blond curls. It takes on an unusual hue, indicating the sophistication of a woman.
  • The mahogany is also an ideal choice for owners of light (porcelain) skin and green eyes or dark skin and hazel eyes or tea color.
  • A mahogany shade is also considered a win-win option for women whose hair has a pronounced red. They complement the image with softness, warmth and enhance the charm of a lady.

As for women who are referred to as the “contrasting winter” color type, they are not recommended to paint curls in mahogany, as it makes the skin even paler, depriving the appearance of attractiveness. It is undesirable to choose it in the presence of age spots, inflammation, redness and manifestations of atopic dermatitis on the face.

    Popular shades

Mahogany is presented not only in pure color, but also has many alternative saturated colors. Each tone is characterized by its own characteristics.

    • Dark. It is a paint in which there are notes of red and orange. Stylists recommend a similar option to swarthy girls with brown eyes. After painting in "mahogany" color, you can achieve maximum facial expressiveness. The dark mahogany is suitable for the fair sex of all ages.
    • Copper. Most often, this shade has a chestnut overflow. This tone is now considered the most fashionable and is at the peak of popularity. The mahogany shade in this design is dynamic. It is best to choose it for girls with dark skin and dark eyes.
    • Light coloured. It is also called the "golden mahogany." He unusually emphasizes the beauty of the eyes, without making changes to the natural image of the girl.

Light shades look good in combination with light beige skin and green or bluish eyes.

Despite the high quality of the above paints, experts still recommend the use of therapeutic and gentle staining with henna.

It allows not only to acquire a contrasting shade, but also contributes to the recovery of hair, giving it density and volume.

      How to dye your hair?

It is important for each girl to have a chic hairstyle that is impossible to imagine without a beautiful hair color. Recently, painting strands in mahogany color has been very popular with the fair sex. To do this, you can choose several options for the procedure:

      • using henna;
      • using tint balms and shampoos;
      • using professional paint.

Each of the above types of painting has both pros and cons. So, for example, shampoos and balms provide the most sparing effect on the hair and are characterized by a quick effect. In addition, with the help of these tinting agents you can even paint over gray hair, changing their color by several tones. The only drawback of such tonics is that to maintain a contrasting shade, the curls need to be tinted periodically. Especially often this procedure should be repeated brunette.

As for professional paints, they contain additional chemical ingredients that contribute to enhancing the shade and restoring the health of the strands. To get a beautiful color, experts recommend choosing shades that are close to the natural tone of the hair. In addition, the color depth depends on the exposure time of the paint. No matter how stable the paint is, it is recommended to renew it every month.

The most useful and safe is considered staining using henna. Since this dye is natural (it is made from the leaves of an Asian tree), it gives curls additional elasticity, volume and density, makes them shiny. To get the desired shade, you need to acquire a certain type of natural dye. As a rule, it is presented in the form of Sudanese, Indian and Iranian paints, each of which has its own nuances in coloring.

If hair coloring at home is performed for the first time, then the novice master should follow the following instructions.

        • First of all, paint should be prepared, for which henna is mixed with basma in a ratio of 1: 2. If the girl's hair color is brown or medium blond, then you need to take henna twice as much as basma. This will provide a brighter shade. In addition, it is recommended to add a few tablespoons of cranberry juice. Everything is thoroughly mixed (cranberry juice, henna) and heated to a temperature of + 80-90 degrees.
        • After the prepared mixture for dyeing hair has cooled to a comfortable temperature, the egg yolk is added to it and everything is applied to the strands for 30 minutes. Then basma is applied for 15-30 minutes (it all depends on the desired shade). It is recommended to insulate the head with a plastic cap.
        • The procedure ends with a head wash using nourishing shampoos.

If desired, restorative balm can be applied to curls.

At home, hair is dyed with henna in other ways. So, for example, many ladies to get red-red tint henna is mixed with walnuts, for which they are pre-crushed in a meat grinder and boiled for 10 minutes in a small amount of water. The result is a mixture having the consistency of liquid slurry, and it is applied to the hair for 30 minutes. Then everything is washed off and henna is applied, previously mixed with the yolk. It is left for at least 2 hours, then washed off and as a result, even dark brown-haired women get a beautiful wine shade on their hair.

You can add intensity to the mahogany color with the help of fragrant cloves, which are added to dry henna (no more than 2 teaspoons). The resulting powder mixture is diluted in water and applied to the locks, keeping from 30 minutes to 2 hours. To slightly muffle the red tone, but get a bright color, you can add 2 teaspoons of ground coffee to the henna instead of cinnamon. Everything is poured with hot water and infused for 15 minutes. The result is an unusual brown shade with a slight redness.

In the event that there is no time to prepare the coloring mixtures, it is best to use ready-made professional paints that are applied to the hair as follows.

        • First of all, you need to throw an old towel on your shoulders or put on a T-shirt that will protect your clothes from dye. After that, comb the hair and divide it into 4 sections (2 vertical and 2 horizontal). Three sections need to be twisted and fixed, and the rest should be painted. But we must not forget about applying Vaseline to the edges of the ears (this will prevent staining of the skin).
        • Then gloves are put on and the paint is prepared, as indicated in the instructions for it. Apply it on locks up to 1 cm wide, slightly stepping back from the hair roots. It is necessary to apply a coloring agent along the entire length of the strands.
        • After the work is completed with the first section, proceed to the rest.

Next, the paint is left for the time specified in the instructions, after which it is washed off with warm water and shampoo with conditioner is applied.

        Care after staining

Regardless of how the hair was dyed, they need careful care, which is advisable to start immediately after painting. The main feature of this care is its multifunctionality, that is, in addition to deep hydration and nutrition, it is necessary to ensure the preservation of the coloring pigment in the structure of each hair, as well as give elasticity and shine to curls. All these requirements correspond to both ready-made cosmetics sold in stores and masks prepared at home. To properly restore the health of your hair after dyeing, you must follow these guidelines.

        • After each hair wash, you need to apply a special balm, the composition of which is intended for the care of colored strands. Balm must be applied even when the hair is dyed with henna and basma. The only thing that in this case you can’t wash your hair for 3 days is to fix the dye.
        • For colored hair, it is necessary to apply a different type of mask - these can be professional products and home-made products.
        • For rinsing hair, only natural products should be used that enhance the color saturation of the hair, give it shine and give moisture. For strands painted in dark colors, it is desirable to use herbal decoctions of walnut leaves and oak bark. To emphasize the radiance of light mahogany, infusions of chamomile will help. It is very simple to prepare such a home rinse: 2-3 tablespoons of dried chamomile flowers are taken, poured with boiling water (500 ml), everything is left for several hours, filtered and applied at the end of a standard head wash.

In addition, the following recipes for the care of colored locks prepared at home will be useful.

        Avocado mask (moisturizing)

It helps to calm the epidermis of the head and moisturizes colored curls well, giving them incredible shine and elasticity. This is because avocados contain many useful vitamins (E, C, B6, K), fats and folate. This mask is ideal for any type of hair dyed in mahogany. To prepare it, you will need a yolk, pulp from one avocado fruit, avocado kernel, tea tree oil, coriander, cypress in 2 drops.

        Preparing a mask is simple.

First, an avocado is cut and a stone is obtained, which must also be cut into 2 parts and ground in a coffee grinder until a powder state is obtained. The fruit pulp can be either softened in a blender or grinded with a fork. All ingredients are mixed, yolk, essential oils are added to them. Then the resulting mask is applied to pre-washed moistened hair, distributing it to the ends. A cellophane hat is put on, the head is covered with a terry towel on top and aged for an hour, after which everything is washed off with warm water.

Oil for hair restoration on plant herbs

A similar tool can be quickly prepared at home and used on hair dyed with henna or dye. This oil is characterized by healing properties and effectively restores the structure of damaged hair. For its preparation, you need to have chamomile inflorescences, nettle and sage leaves, 1 tbsp. l, vegetable oil (sunflower, burdock, olive or almond) - 200 ml.

For preparation, all dry ingredients are taken and poured in a glass container with oil. Everything is covered with a tight lid and hides in a dark place for 2 weeks. Then the oil obtained on herbs is filtered and used to restore hair, preheating in a water bath. The tool is applied to moisturized and clean curls with a special brush from the tips to the roots. Everything is aged for 45 minutes under a terry towel and a plastic cap, then washed off with warm water.
