Fashion designer Jean-Paul Gaultier refused to use natural fur

At Paris Fashion Week, fashion designer Jean-Paul Gaultier, from whom, as always, they expected beautiful fur solutions, first introduced the collection, in the manufacture of which not a single animal was harmed.

He refused to use natural fur and in the future, according to the fashion designer, the fur will only be artificial.

The new collection is decorated with fur prints that are made of faux fur, complemented with rhinestones, feathers and even jewelry.

When asked by journalists about why Gauthier made such a decision, the fashion designer replied that he was getting older, becoming more sentimental, and the era of consumption in which we all live provides ample opportunity for creativity without the need to destroy living things.

For the first time, a fashion designer spoke about the likelihood of abandoning natural fur six months ago, but then no one took his words seriously.

No one could have imagined that things from Gauthier, which were always famous for their fur details, could fall behind without a distinctive symbol.

However, Gauthier’s initiative was actively supported by environmental organizations. While Jean-Paul was preparing a surprise for fans of the brand, the British brand Burberry and Donatella Versace announced the transition to faux fur.

It should be noted that for fashion industry annually around the world it kills up to 70 million animals. Most of the skins of living creatures fall on the catwalks not from animal farms, but from the wild.

Up to two dozen foxes, six dozen minks, up to 170 chinchillas or up to 400 squirrels can go on one coat.

Gauthier’s decision, supported by environmentalists, was not supported by fashionistas and women of fashion. They do not lose hope that the fashion designer will change his mind and return real furs to luxury clothes.

In the meantime, Gauthier is confident that artificial fur can also create optical illusions of a furry presence. For example, instead of fluff, Jean-Paul added down-padded coats with characteristic voluminous reliefs, and replaced the fur trim of the coat with feathers and rhinestones.

The main thing is that things do not lose warmth, Gauthier believes, and this can be achieved without fur.

Fur, Gauthier believes, is beautiful in itself. But he personally never liked women in furs. According to the fashion designer, they are similar to the keepers of wealthy gentlemen. Yes, this is an outdated stereotype, but humanity will need many more decades to change this idea.

In the meantime, you can be content with faux furs, realizing that by doing so we save the planet.
