Hair extensions help girls, and sometimes men, to achieve the length and density of hair that you like. However, in order for it to always look fresh and beautiful, as well as to maintain the quality of natural hair, it is periodically necessary to carry out a correction procedure and change the extended strands.

How often to spend?

The correction procedure is that the donor strands located in the hair are removed and then attached to the natural hair again. This is done because in 2-3 months, during which extended curls were located on your head, your hair grows, and the distance between the scalp and the donor locks increases.

Capsules become tangled in the hair, the hairstyle becomes sloppy. In order to avoid such trouble, they carry out a corrective procedure.

How often should it be done? Of course, you can focus on personal characteristics: for example, everyone’s hair grows at different speeds, if one girl may need correction in a month and a half, the other walks calmly with extended curls and 3. But there are other nuances that are worth paying attention to, namely:

  • extension technology;
  • features of carrying out nursing procedures.

If you have hair extensions using one of the capsule methods, it is recommended to do the correction once every 3 months. When using tape building - once every 1.5 months. But again, these are all recommendations, not rules.

Look at the state of hair after a month, two, three, and build your own schedule for the correction procedure.

How is the correction?

The nuances of performing corrective work entirely and completely depend on the methodology of building up. Therefore, we consider each of them separately.

Italian technique

To begin with, each microcapsule is treated with a softener - a remover, for its destruction. Next, the stylist takes the tongs, squeezes the microcapsule and splits it. Strands, "donors" are disconnected from the hair, keratin particles are removed from them. After this, the preparation of hair for extension begins. Natural curls are combed, cleaned of keratin particles, thoroughly washed with shampoo-degreaser.

If necessary or desired by the client, carry out painting or haircut.

By the way, at this stage, a specialist may advise for some time to refrain from building to restore the quality of natural hair. If the correction procedure is nevertheless carried out, keratin droplets are applied to the donor locks and attached to the hair by heating and pressing with special forceps. In time, the removal of microcapsules can last about an hour, and the repeated extension procedure - 2 hours or more.

      English method

All adjustment steps are almost identical to the previous method. The only difference is that not keratin, but resin is applied to the base of the donor strands.

      Spanish technique

This is a hair extension without heat: the strands are attached to the hair with special glue. Correction is done like this: solvent-remover processes the joints of all the “donor” curls with natural hair. When the glue dissolves, its residues are combed out of the hair, washed thoroughly, dried, and the locks are glued again. This procedure lasts about 60 minutes.

      Tape technique

If you were building hair with tapes, the procedure will be as follows: a spray containing alcohol, a specialist sprayes the ribbons and carefully removes them; removes from all strands "donors" the remains of the old tape and sticks a new one. The hair is washed and dried, after which curls with new adhesive tapes are applied. As a result, they are removed for about 30 minutes, re-built in an hour and a half.

      African technique (tress)

Hair extension using this technology involves weaving a “basket” braid from natural curls and sewing on it in a circle of tresses. The correction procedure consists in disconnecting the old material from the head, unwinding the braid, washing and drying the hair. After which a new “basket” is woven, to which the master sews new tresses. The whole process lasts about 2 hours.

      Brazilian method

It is similar to the African one, but consists in weaving strands, and not in sewing them. When carrying out corrective procedures, the curls are simply intertwined closer to the hair roots. In time it takes 2-2.5 hours.

      Japanese (clip-on) technique

The correction consists in the fact that the specialist, using forceps, pushes the “clip” ring and moves the “donor” locks to the roots. The whole process usually takes about 3 hours.

      Professional Tips

In order to prolong the life of your hair extensions, do not neglect the advice of professional hairdressers and stylists.

      • Never go to bed with hair not dried. This contributes to the appearance of warlocks and pulling out curls when combing.

By the way, only dry hair should be combed.

      • When carrying out the shampooing procedure, do not keep products (shampoo, mask, conditioner) on your hair for more than a minute. Microcapsules under their influence soften and locks - "donors" can simply "slip".
      • When blotting hair with a towel, move from top to bottom, do not pull curls, do not rub with force and do not twist.
      • Gently comb 2-3 times a day, from the ends of the hair to the roots. This will avoid the appearance of nodules and tangles in the future.
