History
History of manufacturing items made of nickel silver began in the 19th centurywhen merchant Kolchugin Alexander Georgievich founded the copper smelting enterprise in 1871. Later, workshops were created on its basis, in which cutlery was made.
The products, which were produced under the Kolchugin Partnership brand, were in demand not only in Russia, but also in other countries.
Beginning in 1922, with the advent of Soviet power, the output of nickel silver products not only did not decrease, its production increased.
During this period, traditional products began to be produced in smaller quantities, while samovars and primuses were very in demand.
- In 1948, the construction of new silver production workshops began; nickel-plated utensils were made here.
- Since 1960, the chromium plating department has been in operation.
- A decade later, a large building was built, where up to 2 thousand tons of dishes were already produced.
- Since 1997, the plant’s products have become known under the name “Mail-Mitsar”.
- In March 2009, the company was liquidated.
Later, Kolchuginsky Cupronickel became part of the Kolchugtsvetmet company, and since 2017, the company has been part of the Electrocable Kolchuginsky Zavod joint-stock company.
Kolchugtsvetmet is one of the leaders in the production of kitchen utensils from non-ferrous metals. This production is constantly being improved. Thanks to the work of the plant’s specialists, the technology for applying gold coatings to stainless steel products was first developed here.
