The process of grinding and polishing is one of the sequential manipulations of manicure or an independent finishing procedure. For this, a nail polishing file is used, which can be made of various materials.

What is grinding for?

Grinding is performed to smooth the surface of the nail plate, get rid of transverse and longitudinal grooves, and other defects. It removes residues of coloring matter, pigmentation from low-quality varnish or gel. Removes excessive yellowness from the nail.

This stage when performing manicure is necessary for alignment, therefore, for better adhesion of the nail plate to the base coat, which extends the life of the manicure. Sanding files must be chosen with a large abrasive, on a rubber or foam base; glass files are also convenient.

Grinding by itself is harmless. But uncontrolled excessive performance worsens the quality of the nail bed.

Harmful procedure for weakened nails. For a thin nail plate, grinding is a traumatic manipulation. The nail becomes thinner, exfoliates, brittleness increases. Varnish does not hold well for long.

Therefore, grinding should be performed by a specialist in manicure design in the salon using medical procedures: baths, masks, oils. Wax polishing is also suitable for weak nail plates.

Why is polishing done?

This type of procedure is carried out as the final stage of grinding or self-manipulation when varnishing is not required. It is necessary to give smoothness, shine, well-groomed and healthy appearance.

In addition to aesthetics, polishing increases blood flow, stimulates the growth of the nail plate.

Used for this polishing file. It differs from the grinding tool in a finer spraying.

Another type of polishing accessory is a buff with a suede surface. The disadvantage of using this tool is the impossibility of professional antiseptic treatment in salons. Therefore, this item is recommended to be used individually at home.

Instruments

Use accessories with various abrasive spraying and made of different materials.

Files:

  • metal;
  • glass;
  • synthetic based cardboard.

The metal tool has a dense surface and is used for sawing.

Glass - effective for shortening the length, as well as for grinding the surface. Such a tool is easy to treat with antiseptics in the cabin, while retaining its qualities for a long time. The only negative is very fragile.

The third type of file is the most convenient, practical, budget option. The surface is glued with cardboard with varying degrees of spraying.

Buff - a special file in the form of a bar with 2 or 4 sides. Translated from English means "polishing." This reflects the basic functions of the subject.

Facets of different colors are numbered to indicate a sequence of actions. To smooth the surface of the nail plate, use the grinding surface with the first number, then go to number 2 and so on. End with the last buff number. This is the finest polishing surface.

The base of the tool is made of rubber or synthetic foam. It is lightweight, comfortable to hold in your hand, it is convenient for them to work.

There is a kind of buff with a fabric surface. Most often, suede is used for these purposes. Using a natural-coated tool, delicate polishing is achieved.

Disinfection and sterilization of a suede instrument in salons is not possible, therefore it is used at home.

Fine Nail Polishing

Grinding the rough surfaces of the nail plate injures it. Excessive dryness, delamination occurs, breaks off in the most inappropriate place.

To make the hands look well-groomed, the masters of salons suggest polishing with wax or cosmetic paraffin.

In addition to the aesthetic effect, active beneficial substances penetrate the plate and treat it. Carrying out several procedures with wax will strengthen the nail and restore a healthy state.

Methodology

The procedure is performed both in the salon and at home:

  • hands should be washed with detergent and dried;
  • a file with a large abrasive with light movements to even the furrows and irregularities;
  • apply cosmetic wax on the surface of the plate, cuticle and periungual roller;
  • rub the substance in circular motions;
  • take a file with a fine dusting and polish a nail with wax on the surface;
  • processing of each plate should take at least 1 minute;
  • finally, dab your hands with a napkin from excess paraffin.
