It would seem that fanciful nail design options with lots of shiny jewelry fade into the background. However, this year kamifubuki blew up the fashion industry in the field of nail art. These are small artificial sequins, but not the kind that you are used to seeing in sewing stores, but their version without holes. These sequins can be glued to the nails, assemble a pattern from them, and among the many colors and shapes there are always suitable options for your idea.

Origin

As the name suggests, such devices for nail design appeared in Japan. From Japanese kamifubuki translates as "paper storm." Not the Japanese came up with them, but they were able to improve the materials and establish high-quality and diverse production. Taking the New Year's confetti as a prototype, they began to make kamifubuki from a thin and flexible polymeric material - something in between plastic and polyethylene. Now you can buy kamifubuki in any specialized store for manicure masters. Increasingly, they leak to the shelves in ordinary cosmetic stores, as their popularity grows.

Packing can be different - in bags or jars, but the latter option is preferable, since working with jars is much more convenient, especially if you plan to use kamifubuki quite often.

Types of sequins

Kamifubuki sequins vary in size, shape and color. A prominent feature may be the bulge and additional effects on the surface of sequins. It is worth considering more well-known options.

  • Flat circle. Now you can find the packaging of some manufacturers with such mugs of different sizes and colors. They can be glossy, mirror, matte or with a holographic effect.
  • Rhombus. Of these, you can make various drawings, for example, a volumetric cube. It is easily made of three rhombs, framed to each other. It is best to leave a small strip of background between them, and for the background itself choose a varnish of contrasting color. Thus, the faces of the cube stand out, and its shape will be better visible. Since Japanese sequins are very small, on one nail you can make several of these cubes at once, creating a pattern from them.
  • Triangle. You can also make many different designs from it to your taste and imagination. For example, multi-colored triangles “scattered” along the nail plate in combination with a white background will look very playful. And if the remaining nails on the hand are painted with varnishes of the same colors as these triangles, you get a solid and harmonious design without undue overload.
  • Patrisa Nail recently released maple leaf sequins - This is what is definitely suitable for autumn manicure. They are presented in three colors - green, yellow and red. They can also find the shapes “heart”, “star”, “diamond”, “leaves”, “koi scales”, “butterfly”, “rectangle” in a wide variety of colors, with and without holography. The most unusual and challenging form is “koi scales”. Koi carps are a species of fish that are very popular in Japan. Their scales are similar to bee honeycombs, therefore, such sequins can be used for “bee” design or lay out the scales on the nails with them.

What design are they suitable for?

The option with one-color circles of different diameters on the nails is the indisputable trend of the season. It looks impressive and indispensable in design options on the theme of the sea or space. Glittering sequins on a matte plain background look no less spectacular. If at the same time stick only a few kamifubuki, then this design can be used as everyday. It will not look too catchy and defiant, but it will emphasize your originality.

If you are ready for a bright and effective solution, then you can safely combine sequins with any colors and designs of manicure.

How to glue?

The first thing to do is pour the sequins from the bag onto a flat surface or jar. It is extremely inconvenient to get them out of the package directly during the work, but if you don’t want to pour them each time before you start, you can buy special small jars that are sold in cosmetics stores. After that, cover the nail with the base product and background varnish. Even before the varnish dries, transfer sequins to the nails. This can be done using the sharp end of an orange stick for manicure or any similar item.

As a rule, plastic sequins easily stick to such tools. And convex versions of kamifubuki can be picked up with small tweezers. After the pattern is made, take a pencil or something the same narrow and non-sharp, slightly press the sequins into the varnish. So, they will stick to nails better. Then apply a top clear coat, which will also prevent premature loss of decor. As a result, kamifubuki will look as if they are under glass or just part of the pattern.
