Nowadays, few women will come out "in people" without a neat manicure and painted nails. Some people prefer to do it in the cabin, others do it themselves at home. But sometimes when staining marigolds it happens that the varnish gets on the clothes. What can be done to get rid of the stain and not damage the fabric?
How to “save” clothes?
Regardless of whether you dripped onto the fabric with gel polish or regular nail polish, the first cleaning step will be the same. It includes such actions:
- we take a sponge from cotton wool or an ordinary paper towel and try to remove the maximum amount of funds from the surface of the fabric;
- further, a wooden toothpick enters the battle, with which we try to clear the interfiber space in matter, where the varnish has already managed to seep;
- after that we put the soiled thing on a solid horizontal surface, carefully straighten it, put a white cotton cloth under the speck;
- Well, now we will act depending on what kind of thing we dirty.
Important! Regardless of the type of fabric and the chosen product, first always try this method on an inconspicuous area of the product.
How to remove varnish from natural fabric?
Have you varnished clothes made of cotton, linen or other natural material? This is very annoying, since such things are usually not cheap, and finding them on sale is not so simple. However, do not despair - let's try to save your favorite thing using one of the following means.
- Acetone. Probably the first thing that comes to mind is to remove the varnish with acetone.And not in vain, because this liquid is the safest for tissue. To remove the varnish stain with its help, we take a sponge, wet it in acetone and gently wipe the fabric. If you managed to get rid of the speck, but there are stains, you should get them wet with gasoline and sprinkle with talcum powder over.
- Petrol. It is also good as an independent remedy in the fight against stains from nail polish. So, we moisten the damaged area of the fabric in gasoline, leave it for 15 minutes, after which we intensely wipe the stain with a clean rag. If necessary, repeat the procedure.
- Hydrogen peroxide. Especially indispensable when removing stains from white clothes. Take 3% peroxide, cotton pads, start processing.
- White things can also be tried to wipe off varnish with a bleaching agent. To do this, we moisten the stain in the bleach, leave it for 30-40 minutes, after which the product must be washed off the fabric, rinsing the thing under the tap.
- White Spirit. Also a good proven tool. We impregnate a cotton pad with them, firmly press it to the spot, hold for a quarter of an hour, wash the thing.
After one of the above methods has been tried, contaminated clothing should be washed in the washing machine with the usual 30-minute program. If you see that the speck has not come off the fabric, repeat the cleaning cycle again, possibly using another agent.
How to wash synthetic clothes?
Synthetics are considered a more delicate fabric than the same cotton. The above methods for cleaning natural fabrics will not work here, but with a 100% guarantee, they will ruin the thing completely. To clean synthetics, we recommend taking such products.
- Acetone-free nail polish remover. We pour it onto a stain, wait 5-10 seconds, we begin to wipe the pollution with a sponge, moving it strictly in one direction. As pollution sponge is changed.
- There is a recipe for self-made stain remover. Take 1 tsp. ammonia, 1 tsp turpentine, 1 tsp. olive oil, mix everything well and apply on a speck. Wait 5-7 minutes, remove the mixture with a paper handkerchief or napkin. Wash clothes, repeat the procedure if necessary, but only when the item is dry.
Removing varnish from jeans
Jeans are made from a very special fabric. Remember the color of the water after the first wash of your jeans trousers - for sure it was ink blue. So, because of this staining of the fabric, it cannot be wiped with aggressive agents with a whitening effect. You may remove the varnish, but a whitened stain will remain in its place, which is unlikely to please you more. Therefore, before you start processing jeans with anything, try to use the product from the wrong side, in an inconspicuous area.
First of all, soak a stain of varnish with sunflower oil. This will help scrape off the remnants of the varnish. Just do it carefully so that there are no scratches or puffs on the clothes. Then proceed depending on the material of the jeans: if you are using pure cotton, use clay-clay slurry, and if there is an admixture of lycra, ammonia-salt.
There is a universal mixture: mix alcohol with shavings of gray laundry soap, warm the mass a little and treat the stain with a sponge.
How to remove dried varnish?
This, of course, is more difficult to do than to erase a fresh stain: the varnish has already thoroughly eaten into the fibers of the fabric and will not want to part with them. However, use the following algorithm of actions and, perhaps, you can still save the thing.
- To begin, turn the thing with the wrong side up. Take a piece of pure white matter, put it in several layers. In the absence of such fabric, disposable paper towels are suitable. Place this lining strictly under the speck.
- Next, drop a drop of acetone or acetone-containing liquid to remove the varnish. For accurate processing, use a syringe or pipette.Apply the selected product drop by drop over the entire surface of the stain until it disappears completely.
- Rinse the treated area with water. Place fabric or paper towels back in place. With a cotton pad moistened with solvent, blot the remaining varnish. Repeat the procedure until the stain of the sponge stops.
- Now take the thing, soak it in ordinary washing powder, and then wash it in the car or on your hands. Rinse thoroughly. Dry outdoors to get rid of the smell of chemicals.
How can I remove a spot from a spot?
If, after all the above-mentioned manipulations, the spot from the nail polish still didn’t go away entirely, but the trace remained, try using a couple more proven methods.
- Oddly enough, an insect repellent can help you. To clean the fabric from the varnish stain, spray on it with the selected spray. Next, wet an unnecessary toothbrush in the product. Rub the stain thoroughly until it dissolves, then rinse under running water. Wash the item in the washing machine with a Vanish stain remover.
- Wet the sponge in ethanol. Blot the varnish stain, then start rubbing it in a circular motion from the edges to the center. Do it from the inside out, and on the front side put a piece of white matter. After the stains disappear, wash the item in the washing machine in the normal washing mode.
What is not worth doing?
It is clear that if a thing is beloved and dear, you will want to save it by any means. However, do not rush to extremes and try to clean the varnish stain with everything that comes to hand. First of all, specify what fabric the product is sewn from. What is good for cotton is not suitable for synthetics. So, what you should not do in the fight against stains from nail polish on clothes.
- If varnish gets on a leather or suede item, do not use any solvents.
- If you chose white spirit as the “savior”, remember that it can provoke an allergy: put on rubber gloves and a protective mask on your face, keep antihistamines on hand.
- Under the influence of hydrogen peroxide, a bright thing can fade, and in place of the stain from the varnish there will simply remain a pale stain.
- If the fabric is very moody - silk, velvet, organza, then do not use any aggressive means. Try to remove the stain with the most gentle methods.
- Never use vinegar and citric acid. These aggressive products can not only fix the spot on the surface, but also increase its brightness.
So, all possible remedies have been tried, and a spot or trace of it remains. Annoyingly. So what now, as in advertising, to send a thing in a link to the country? Do not rush to do it. If a thing is really very dear to you, maybe it makes sense to use the services of a professional dry cleaning service. You will spend a small amount, but get a clean and beautiful thing.
Don't want to go dry cleaning - well, try an alternative method: mask the stain. Yes, yes, just mask: sew a beautiful patch, make an original applique, pin a brooch in the end. Now is the time when such designer details in clothes look very stylish and modern. Customize the design to your style and carry your favorite thing on.
