In the process of creating a manicure, it sometimes happens that the varnish spills, and its drops fall on the surrounding surfaces, including the carpet. The situation is unpleasant, but it can be corrected using various means for cleaning.
Fresh spots
If the carpet is expensive, and the stain is large, then it is better not to risk it and go to dry cleaning. But the carpet may be large, or it cannot be removed without moving heavy furniture. In this case, you have to act on your own. It is easier to remove the nail polish from the carpet if the stain is fresh. If a lot of varnish has been spilled, then first you will need to remove its excess with a metal or plastic flat object. For this purpose, you can use a regular spoon. Only it needs to be thoroughly cleaned of varnish before each touch on the carpet, in order to prevent an increase in the size of the stain.
You should not hesitate, as the pile of the carpet begins to actively absorb spilled drops. In addition, some types of varnishes thicken fairly quickly.
To remove the remaining stain, use a tool that dissolves the varnish well. Usually, traditional nail polish remover fluids do an excellent job of this. More sparing is the liquid without acetone, but it is not always effective. Modern nail polish remover fluids often contain additives that change the color of the composition, and it can be quite saturated. Colored liquids for light carpets should not be used. Acetone will give the best results, but it may be too aggressive both in coloring and in the pile of the carpet itself.
In any case, regardless of the means used, it is necessary to conduct a test on an inconspicuous area of the floor covering.
If the test did not reveal any problems, the product is applied to a clean rag or piece of cotton wool and gently soaked in the soiled pile. Rubbing the stained place is not worth it, so as not to increase its area. The process is quite lengthy, especially if a bright varnish left a mark on a light carpet. Pouring funds on the carpet should not be: this will help expand the area of contamination. In addition, fluid can cause damage to the carpet. To facilitate the work, it is recommended to periodically wet the stain with water: it will not allow the pollution to dry out. You can finish the cleaning using soapy water or a special carpet cleaner.
For white carpets, you can use hydrogen peroxide. It is mixed with water in a proportion of 1/1 and the area to be cleaned is moistened with the resulting solution. Then the carpet must be dried and fluffed. You should know that hydrogen peroxide can not be used for colored carpets due to the whitening effect of the composition. You can try to clean the dark carpet with hairspray. It must be sprayed onto a stain previously moistened with plenty of water, and wait 0.5-1 minute, and then wipe the villi with a napkin. And you can also apply alcohol to a cotton pad and erase the stain with it.
As soiling, wipes and discs should be replaced with clean ones.
Old footprints
Old spots will require a bit more effort. However, in this case, there are quite effective ways. On some types of materials, varnish can simply be scraped off from the villi. If the varnish is not too deeply absorbed, and the pile pile is long and thick, then you can try to carefully cut off the pollution. With a big spot, this is not worth doing: it will be very noticeable.
A stubborn old stain can also be erased with a nail polish remover. If at hand, add alcohol to it. A small amount of nail polish remover (possibly with alcohol) is applied to the contaminated area abundantly moistened with water. After a while, the varnish begins to loosen, and it must be carefully removed with a thick brush. An old toothbrush is suitable for this purpose. The bristles of the brush should not slide over the surface of the stain. It is necessary to clean the varnish from the bottom, from the base of the carpet, upward. The brush should be cleaned after each contact with the carpet.
The performed manipulations do not always allow to fully cope with the problem. Finally, acetone or refined gasoline will help to wash off a heavily stubborn stain. Before using them, it is necessary to conduct a test: they can wash off the paint from the carpet. It should be noted that the cleaning procedure should be carried out with a good influx of fresh air, since prolonged inhalation of vapors of acetone-containing liquids cannot be considered useful.
You can try to remove the stain with the help of special cleaners, a wide range of which is offered in hardware stores. However, you need to carefully read about their purpose and properties. This information is usually contained on the packaging.
When using these chemicals, you must strictly follow the instructions.
From improvised means, you can try to use a wiper. Glass cleaning fluids are generally neutral to the color of the carpet and do not damage its pile. The product is applied to the contamination and left for 2-3 minutes. Then the stain needs to be wiped off with a rag or cotton swab. Complete the procedure by washing with cool water, which is moistened with a clean rag.
