Hybrids of dogs with a kind and sweet Labrador have a special appeal. You should find out how they look and what character traits they can inherit from their parents.

Features

Mestizos have 2 thoroughbred parents, but they themselves are considered purebred animals. They have no passport or family tree. One of the benefits of these pets is that they can be purchased for free. There will be no less benefit from such a dog than from its titled parents.

In most cases, hereditary diseases do not pass to mestizos.

Their psyche is stable, and you can try to get the character and external data by crossing the Labrador with the appropriate types of dogs, although the results may be unexpected.

Dog character

When crossing a Labrador with other dog breeds, it is difficult to predict what character the future pet will have. Typically, this mix gives mestizos with good mental data and the best qualities taken from their parents.

Quite rarely, hybrids are vicious and aggressive.

  • Crossbreed with Alabai. Good dog with a powerful temperament. One cannot be left for a long time, it will create a mess in the house. Inquisitive, loves to travel and explore new places.
  • With the mongrel. Usually the offspring from such an alliance is with a stable psyche, friendly and sociable character. Dogs are active, inquisitive and gentle to the owner, they have good protective qualities.
  • Like. Lycadors are active, funny, and funny dogs, but they will never be watchmen or guards because their ancestors did not. They are friendly, curious and very smart.If there is more Labrador in the mestizo than husky, he will be gullible and love everyone, but if on the contrary he will get a more independent and less sociable character.
  • With a shepherd. By mixing these breeds, you can get a loving dog with a non-aggressive character, but at the same time with protective qualities. He will play with children with pleasure, using his indefatigable energy. The dog gets along with other pets, but the stranger will not let go from the yard, showing his character as a protector. Labronemians are very devoted, and although they are glad to any member of the family, they choose one owner and listen only to his commands.

With such pets you can not give slack, they should be raised confidently and firmly, otherwise the dog may become the owner.

  • With a pit bull. Despite breeders' fears, mestizos from these breeds are rarely aggressive, as Labrador genes dominate. They are friendly, active, play with children with pleasure. But there are rare cases when a puppy inherits the aggressiveness of a pit bull.
  • With a poodle. Very smart, capable of training dogs. They are good-natured, accommodating and responsible. Such mestizos are prepared to help people with disabilities, pets are very enthusiastic in their work and are good at their responsibilities.
  • With a rottweiler. A mixture of these breeds is not popular today due to the unpredictability of their nature. Crossing a merry fellow and a good-natured Labrador with a tough fighting dog, you can get an active, strong, but evil animal. Of course, it can be quite an adequate dog, but it is difficult to understand the habits of a future adult animal, looking at a mischievous puppy.
  • With a spaniel. The metis is friendly and unreasonably temperamental; he has no equal in games. He loves walks in the fresh air, shows the qualities of a hunter. It’s impossible to get bored with him.
  • With staff. Families with young children do not get mixed breeds of these breeds, since the fighting character of Stafford can occur at any time. Some individuals do not reveal aggression, playful and affectionate. It is difficult in advance to predict the future nature of such a pet.
  • With a dachshund. It turns out a wonderful short-legged Labrador with a playful groovy disposition. He loves children and is ready to play with them tirelessly for days on end.
  • With Husky (Labish). Mestizos are friendly, strongly attached to the owner, get along well with children. Sometimes they may show the will of a husky, and at the time of danger - even a formidable disposition.
  • With sharpei. Genes are formed in different ways, a dog can be roomy and good-natured, like a lap-dog, or it can protect like a shar pei. But in any case, it will be a loving and faithful dog.

Advantages and disadvantages

Retriever Labradors are the kindest creatures. With the light hand of director T. Dreyer, they are called "the last angels on Earth." Mestizos obtained from such animals have many positive qualities:

  • they have an adequate character;
  • smart mind;
  • they are easy to train;
  • they quickly get used to the new environment;
  • have good immunity;
  • unpretentious in food;
  • they can be purchased at a small cost or simply get "in good hands."

The disadvantages include the lack of documents, pedigree and the breed itself.

They are admitted to exhibitions, but never win anything. During mating, it is difficult to predict the future exterior and character of the puppies.

Mix options

In order to breed a new breed, breeders purposefully engage in crossbreeding of various species of animals. But more often such an alliance happens by chance when they have not kept track of the thoroughbred dog. At an older age, it is easier to distinguish a mestizo from its parents.

Labradors can be crossed with any dogs: fighting Cane Corso, watchdogs such as Doberman, gundogs (you can take a setter).

For mating, they choose a boxer in the hope of getting a bodyguard dog, or a corgi if they want to have a cute baby, but nevertheless, with optimal mixing, the animals should be about the same complexion.

  • WITH alabai. Dogs of these breeds are well crossed, as they have a similar structure, so they can be found quite often. Thick mestizo wool needs regular combing and a special shampoo.
  • With a mutt. Such mating occurs by chance, and it is impossible to predict the appearance of the offspring. Métis sizes will receive from their parents.
  • WITH Like. Visually, puppies can have qualities from each breed. They have a beige, brown or black color, but are almost never white, like Samoyeds. They have elongated snouts with a scissor bite. Ears can stand like a husky or hang down like a Labrador, it all depends on the dominant genes. Lycodors have a smart, friendly look that can immediately appeal to themselves.
  • With a shepherd. A cross between these breeds is very popular, as each parent gives the puppy its best qualities. Outwardly, the dogs also look great. Most often, Labronemians have medium-long hair with a black color. Mestizos usually have hanging labrador ears.
  • With pit bull. Pit bulls are rarely crossed with a Labrador: they are afraid to pass the aggression gene to their puppies. Mestizos get the size and character of the Labrador, but there are exceptions.
  • WITH poodle. Labradoodle (Cobberdog) is the most popular hybrid to date. These dogs make excellent guide dogs, infinitely loving their master and helping him in everything. It is believed that mestizos from poodles received hypoallergenic qualities of wool, they can contain people suffering from allergies. Such dogs are often brought up by families with children, as they become wonderful nannies. The puppy can inherit the length, color and type of coat from any of the parents.
  • WITH rottweiler. The strong backbone of a Labrador has some similarities with the backbone of a Rottweiler. But puppies that are a crossbreed of these breeds are not popular today. The absolute opposite of the characters of parents makes it possible to get an unpredictable result. In order to bring out a non-aggressive, complaisant hybrid, more than one generation of dogs should be worked out by crossing.
  • With a spaniel. Such a union gives beautiful puppies that grow in size from a Labrador. Mestizos have the kindest expression of the muzzle. They have mischievous eyes and drooping ears. They look like both of their parents.
  • With staff. A mestizo is stocky, not tall, with a strong muscular physique. Staff is often guessed by the appearance of the dog, especially the position of the eyes and the shape of the forehead. But the nose is elongated, like a Labrador, and the coat is slightly longer than that of the staff.
  • WITH dachshund. This is a rare and amazing mix of animals. Labrador genes are dominant in the appearance of mestizos, but short-legged is transmitted from the dachshund.
  • With husky. Labsky is one of the most popular crossbreeds; she has a lot of husky looks: a wonderful face, often blue or even multi-colored eyes, but her ears hang like a Labrador’s. Puppies with erect ears are less common. At the Labrador, mestizos take the color and shape of the body.
  • WITH sharpei. Breeders rarely combine sharpei with a labrador. Although the mestizos look very pretty, they look like a Labrador, only with folds. Especially attractive look muzzle decorated with brylyami. A mestizo size gets average between two breeds.

How to choose a puppy?

If there is no need to purchase a thoroughbred dog for participation in exhibitions, but you just need a friend and companion, the Labrador Métis will do just fine for these purposes. People who turned to the cross probably want a friendly dog. The presence of 2 breeds when producing offspring gives an additional chance to acquire the desired qualities. But you need to remember that the genes of parents affect offspring in different ways. In any case, the puppy should be selected taking into account the task.

Watchtower mestizo

If a family with young children needs a guard, a dog will need a friendly, with an adequate character, stable psyche and at the same time with watchdog qualities. In such cases, turn to mestizo labradors and guard dogs:

  • saint bernard - this service dog can pass the puppy the genes of a caretaker, lifeguard, nanny and friend;
  • pincher - a mixed breed has the opportunity to be a cheerful, hardy, active watchdog with a powerful hunting instinct;
  • shepherd dogs all types are endowed with official and protective qualities;
  • mastiff will give the puppy the genes for bodyguard, watchman and companion;
  • Dobermans have unsurpassed security qualities, but along with them they can transmit aggression genes.

Dwarf

Some owners want to have a small, almost toy dog, but most of the representatives of such breeds do not sparkle with intelligence, moreover, they often have a vicious uncontrollable disposition. The ideal option is to have a puppy with the appearance of a mini-pet and the character of a labrador. To solve this problem, you can purchase a cross between a Labrador with certain breeds.

  • Spitz - A very cute puppy with a flexible, but temperamental character.
  • Lapdogs funny, lively and good-natured animals. If you choose dwarf breeds, can significantly reduce the growth of mestizo.
  • Pekingese - a mestizo can get a pretty face, the middle between the built-up form of a Labrador and a flat one - Pekingese. The owners are lucky if the puppy becomes a Labrador.
  • Italian Greyhound - a very smart and agile dog, which coincides with the character of the Labrador. A half-breed can get a reduction in size and a more elongated face.

In the next video, you will be able to observe the abilities of the mestizo Labrador in training.
