White Labrador is a very beautiful breed variety that was originally bred as a hunting one, but in modern times has acquired the indispensable qualities of a companion dog. This is an incredibly cute, good-natured animal, in need of communication with a person. The Labrador is often confused with the retriever, but, despite belonging to the same group, these are completely different breeds.
Due to its amazing qualities, poise, quick wits and unpretentiousness in care Labrador is one of the most popular varieties.
Origin history
The breed was bred on the Canadian islands of Newfoundland in the 19th century. In order to obtain a hunting breed, a small Newfoundland, a setter, a Foxhound, a retriever was crossed. At first, the breed was black, for a long time it was standard for Labradors, but in the process of breeding Retriever, Labradors and other dogs, puppies of different stripes, including white, were bred.
Dogs came to Russia only at the end of the 20th century and immediately gained incredible popularity. The standard parameters of the breed were recorded at the end of the 19th century, when the officially recognized suit was black. At the very beginning of the 20th, dog handlers made changes to the standard, adding chocolate and fawn suits to the number of possible ones.
A pure white labrador is still not included in the standard, although in quality and character it is identical to the darker relatives.
Character Features

Since dogs tend to overeat, you need to monitor the number of servings.
Much also depends on the quality of food. Experts recommend making a choice in favor of dry food, as this will allow the dog to provide balanced nutrition without unnecessary efforts. If the choice is made in favor of natural products, it is imperative to include vitamin and mineral complexes in the diet, as well as observe nutrition proportions. 20 grams of meat, which is 50% of the total diet, is relied on per kilogram of weight. In addition, the menu includes cereals, vegetables, dairy products, offal, herbs, fruits.
In no case should you feed Labradors with food from your table, give fatty meat, sweet, flour, salt, pepper, season the food with spices.

- parakeratosis of the nose.
In order for the Labrador to develop correctly, have good health and feel good, it is necessary:
- timely vaccination according to a general or individual schedule;
- regularly conduct antiparasitic prophylaxis;
- make many active walks daily, provide the dog with physical activity;
- fully feed.
Maintenance and care
Despite the fact that the Labrador is a rather large dog, it can be safely kept not only in a private house, but also in an apartment. Before you bring home the baby, you need to provide him with everything you need: bowl for food and water, toys, couch, collar, leash. The most important condition is daily walk, and walks should take place actively: the dog should be allowed to run freely. After all vaccinations have been given, the puppy is socialized, given contact with other thoroughbred animals, he must see people, get used to them. Labradors love to swim, in the warm season they can be taken to ponds so that they can splash around.
Caring for this breed is not too complicated, although the light shade of the coat is quite easily soiled and causes some inconvenience to the owners. On a walk, such dogs often get dirty, they have to be washed locally, to clean the coat from stains and dirt. Shorthair breed does not eliminate the need for combing. It is better to teach a puppy to this from the first months of life, using a rubber brush. Labradors are combed out 2-3 times a week, during shedding - daily.
In addition to getting rid of wool, this procedure has other advantages: massage, improved blood circulation.
It is important to monitor the condition of the eyes, ears and teeth of the dog. Eyes are washed with special solutions at least once a week, they should be examined daily for inflammation or tearing. Ears are also inspected regularly and cleaned as necessary. Once a couple of weeks, the auricles carefully remove excess sulfur, use cotton buds and hydrogen peroxide. Once a month, the dog needs to brush his teeth with a special toothpaste and brush, and bones with fluoride are periodically bought.
If you notice inflammation, pus, bleeding gums, bad breath from the mouth - you need to show the animal to the veterinarian.
It is also necessary to trim the claws of the animal in time, this is done by necessity, since the claws can grind naturally. This should be done using a special clipper.

How to choose a puppy?
Since the breed is very common in Russia, it will not be difficult to find a nursery or a breeder with a good reputation. The main thing is to abandon the idea of buying a puppy from hand, in the market. There you can buy either a sick dog, rejected, or another breed with an external resemblance. The acquisition of a puppy is a very important step, you need to treat it very carefully and responsibly. When choosing, pay attention to the following points:
- the best puppies - from working lines: such dogs have a healthy psyche, there are no genetic problems;
- the presence of documents (veterinary passport indicating all vaccinations, examinations), otherwise there is a risk of buying a puppy with dysplasia;
- qualities and achievements of parents, their state of health;
- you should not buy an animal in kennels where dogs are kept in enclosures: they are very sociable, therefore this way of life is detrimental to the quality of the breed, causes mental deviations;
- the mother of the puppies may bark a little, but rather quickly allows them to approach the puppies, if this does not happen, there is reason to doubt her psyche;
- healthy puppies are active, curious, make good contact, are not afraid;
- external examination should not reveal pus, redness, wounds, inflammation.
A good breeder himself asks a lot of questions and eagerly answers yours, this shows his interest in the fate of the baby and the fact that he has nothing to hide. They will always talk about all the shortcomings. If you hear only laudatory odes and the breeder has no doubt whether you should give the dog away, you should once again study the reviews about him.
