The main advantage of a homemade wooden bread box is the long-term storage of bread in it, which remains fresh and soft. But it is also an original decorative household item that can become an interior decoration. Such utensils, of course, can be acquired, but if you have basic knowledge from the field of carpentry, you can create a truly unique thing.

Before you get down to work, you should consider what shape and size the thing will be, from what material it should be made. Previously, since the families were large, craftsmen created large boxes for storing bread, but today smaller dimensions are required.

Accepted product forms:

• rectangular, square container with doors;
• box closing with a lid;
• an open dish with a fully open lid, despite the fact that the base can be used as a cutting board.

You can decorate an item by applying a picture with coloring compounds, decoupage technique, by burning and carving, after which the outer side of the product is covered with a protective layer of a special food varnish or stain.

As for the materials, it can be wood, plywood, birch bark, bamboo. Craftsmen even create their masterpieces from cardboard, cotton, clay, newspapers, and plastic bottles. The most widely used are bread bins made of wood and birch bark, and small wicker boxes made of twigs are also popular.

Having stopped the choice on one of types of a product, you need to draw a diagram based on dimensions and preliminary drawing. In this case, it is necessary to build on the amount of bread and the size of loaves (loaves) that will be placed in the bread box. It is important that the contents fit freely inside. It is allowed to create drawings immediately on a tree or other material.

A bread box at home is often made from plywood, bamboo, birch bark and natural wood. This is due to their advantageous characteristics, such as breathability and humidity regulation inside the structure.

For work, you will need a clamping carpenter's ruler, clamps, a jigsaw, a manual milling machine, emery.

• At the first stage, it is necessary to cut out all the details in accordance with the drawing, best of all, with a jigsaw. The following blanks should be available - bottom, two sidewalls, top, rear wall, doors.
• Next, you need to fasten all the elements with screws, screws, glue or by means of a groove-comb connection, having previously formed recesses and spikes on the parts of the plywood.
• Joints for reliability are treated with wood glue.
• If a curtain door is conceived, it is made of battens, at the end an additional groove is made inside the bread box to move it.
• The hinged door is mounted on the front side of the product.
• After that, you need to carefully grind the item. The patterned look of the kitchen attribute can be decorated with lace carvings or painted with paint.

A bread box made of wood is made in a similar way, only boards or parts of a wooden sheet are used as material, according to which, according to the sawing pattern, details are cut out. This design may differ hinged lid, the presence of an internal shelf or division into sections.

The original thing can be created from bamboo rugs, and if you need small dimensions - from napkins, moreover, the work will take only a few hours.

To make it, you need to prepare cardboard, scissors, a self-adhesive tape, a piece of fabric, a pencil to create a sketch, you also need a beautiful souvenir handle for the curtain door. The size will depend on the parameters of the napkin.

• First, a body is made of a thick sheet of cardboard.
• In order for the door to close tightly, the side walls are rounded on one side.
• All elements are connected with glue.
• Inside and out, the cardboard is glued with a self-adhesive film, which gives it strength.

The final step is to finish with bamboo. If the napkin is large, it is enough on the bottom and door.

A product is created from the top layer of the linden bark or birch, but you can also craft it from the finished material, which is sold in shops for creativity.

The order of work.

• You will need 24 ribbons of birch bark, which are laid horizontally and vertically (12 pieces each with a width of 20 mm). From them weaves a rug, which will be the deepest part of the box.
• Weave the cover so that its height is one and a half diagonals of scabs, which are 0.5 mm wider than those used for the base.
• The edges of the product are fixed with stainless steel wire.

An interesting option is to create a bread box from a plastic bottle and paper. A capacity of 5 liters is suitable as the basis.

Manufacturing steps:

• the bottle is cut into two identical parts along the neck, and sidewalls are cut from the bottom;
• take newspapers or unnecessary paper, and tear it into small pieces;
• then you need to coat the plastic with petroleum jelly, and lay on top the prepared paper parts;
• PVA glue is applied to the first newspaper layer, and paper again on it, it is best to make 5-6 layers, after which the form is left for final drying, usually it takes several days;
• as a result, the hardened form is removed from the plastic base;
• To create a stand, you can use a deep saucer and do the same procedure with it as with the parts of the bottle.

All elements of the future bread box are fastened together with adhesive tape, and the stand is glued using hot melt adhesive. It remains to glue the structure with ordinary napkins, and then paint with acrylic paint. However, the decor you can choose which one you like.

Also, an open bread box can be made with your own hands from cotton and even a finished knitted fabric, which is soaked in starch water before being made. The main task is to create a dense inner base of cardboard, which will serve as a frame for soft material.

• To do this, take a square sheet of cardboard with sides of 27 cm and a cotton cloth 1.5 cm larger. You will also need a ruler, a piece of chalk for marking, braid, pins, adhesive tape and an iron.
• Two fabric cuts are sewn on three sides, then the resulting bag must be turned outward with the front surface and insert cardboard into it, then completely stitched.
• Inside it, they draw a square with chalk, stitch it, and, connecting the corners with the help of pins, get the likeness of a dish. Inside you can put a beautiful paper napkin, and decorate the borders with ribbons from ribbons.

Some craftsmen are able to create kitchen utensils even from plain paper, folding sheets into dense tubes, which are then joined by glue and intertwined. Fancy bread bins are obtained from such blanks, which are first coated with a primer mixture and then with paint. And they are no less valuable than crafts, completely hollowed out from a single piece of wood.
