However, not all manufacturers have the opportunity to boast of their superior quality and affordable cost.
In addition, it is not easy to choose ready-made pieces of furniture for the existing size of the home. Nevertheless, there is always the opportunity to make a table with your own hands. Similar furniture has its own characteristics.

- The cost of a table made by yourself will be cheaper than that of a store prototype.
And further, To save on buying a new table in the kitchen, simply updating the old one is enough.
Varieties of designs
This will probably seem unusual, but such a common product as a kitchen table may have several ways of implementation. They differ in their constructive properties, which determined 5 options for a table for the kitchen.
- Four-leg typical table. This is the most ordinary structure, having a round, oval or rectangular configuration, which is quite easy to create. The main thing is to take into account the individual technological details associated with the subtleties of design.
- A convertible folding table requires special tools and a mechanism that defines this design. The most common and easiest option is a kitchen table-book, which can be made of chipboard.
You can use wood, only you need to cut the array on special equipment or order already prepared material.
And then it remains only to assemble a folding table.
- Sliding structure. The point is to install an additional insert, through which the area of the working surface increases. The usual mechanism pushes 2 halves of the table, and inside there is an additional section.
- Extendable table. Significantly frees up space for the most needed furniture. Usually it executes several options:
- functions as an auxiliary countertopon which it is comfortable to cut products, or place electrical appliances (mixer, combine);
- small table for coffee gatherings or tea drinking uses a little space, in comparison with the main dining surface, pushing this design, you can eat quite comfortably.
- Dining table with hinged lid similarly, it is considered a fairly ordinary construction that does not require special skills for the manufacture.
In essence, this is a tabletop with folding legs attached to a vertical plane.
Based on the foregoing, we conclude that absolutely any design is suitable for manufacturing on its own.
What to make of?
A table made of wood goes well with other materials in the interior.
Quality, environmental safety and a long service life make wood tables one of the most popular.
Similar products are used both at home and in various offices. Tables, as a rule, are made from arrays of such rocks.
- Medium hard (birch, pine, linden, alder, cedar, spruce). They can be processed without problems, they look beautiful, strong and relatively inexpensive.
- Solid (ash, beech, cherry, cherry, oak, acacia, elm, larch), they are quite strong, wear-resistant, look great, only their price is higher than that of soft varieties.
- Exotic (amaranth, suar, mahogany, eucalyptus, teak and others). They are resistant to moisture, dryness and mechanical stress, stand out for their original appearance.
To create tables used exclusively dried material. The choice of breed depends on what purpose and in which place you will operate the furniture.
A kitchen table, for example, must be resistant to moisture and scratches, which is why it is best to use hard varieties.
In addition to the species listed above, tables are made from the following wood materials.
- Particle Boards (Particle Board), made by pressing crushed wood blocks (hardwood and coniferous), bonded with resins. May include 1, 3 or 5 layers and be of different densities. They are easily processed, quite durable, have good insulating properties and low cost. Mostly suitable for office desks. It should not be used for children's furniture due to the presence of toxic formaldehyde in the structure.
- Similar platescoated with a polymer film are called chipboard. They can be used for kitchen, office tables.
- MDF - wood-fiber boards made from dry and glued together sawdust. They are compact, retain their configuration and fasteners perfectly with their small thickness from 5 to 22 millimeters. The structure of the plates is characterized by uniformity and smoothness, freely amenable to processing.
- If MDF and particleboard accurately reproduce wood, chipboard has the power to stylize other surfaces.
- A good material for making a table is plywood. It is a multi-layer panel of glued veneer. It is produced mainly from thin sheets of birch, poplar or coniferous trees. It is characterized by water resistance.
It happens polished or unpolished. To create a table, it is advisable to take laminated plywood.
It is perfect for a desk or the most trivial solutions for a country house.
- Another option for furniture for a country house is a table made of tree trunks cleaned from branches, otherwise logs. For the manufacture of such a table, a round of coniferous trees will ideally fit.
It has various diameters: small from 6 to 13 centimeters, medium - 14-24 centimeters, large starts from 25 centimeters.
Chopped furniture can be placed in the garden, dressing room, gazebo or in the yard. Sometimes stylized chopped tables can be seen in restaurants and summer cafes. Some people equip a nursery with chopped round log furniture, as this is a completely environmentally friendly material.
- Wooden pallet table - simple and very curious decision in the design of the home. Pallets, simply put, are pallets. For a small table, a few pieces are enough. You can assemble them like a constructor and connect with each other. A great choice for a coffee table in the living room or as a kind of bedside attribute in the bedroom.
- Original and durable tables can be made of timber. It is durable and will withstand any load. Any wood will work for the manufacture. To fix the elements, you can use specialized glue and screws.
The cover of the table can be made both from timber and from boards.
Such a sample would be an excellent solution as a dining table.
- An intricate, fashionable and affordable table comes out of the furniture panel. It can be used in any room. The furniture board is a single sheet or glued from planed bars with a width of not more than 600 millimeters.
It is safe, aesthetic, has a pleasant texture and color. It can be painted or varnished.
Domestic manufacturers produce the lion's share of shields from beech, oak, birch, and conifers. In essence, the shield is a finished worktop. It is only necessary to cut off a suitable length and equip with legs.
- It makes sense to consider a sample of a homemade wood table decorated with tiles. The basis of the product can be anything, but the tabletop must be decorated with ceramic tiles. To do this, you can use any mosaic elements or tiles. Just stick the tile on the cover. It is better to take large tiles, so there will be less joining seams and work.
- Wooden slab table. So previously called exclusively monolithic slabs of rock. Today this term is applied to transverse and longitudinal cuts of a solid massif. Each slice has a special pattern and shape. From it create tables, dining tables, bar, coffee tables. It is successfully combined with glass.
- Drywall. For the kitchen, you can make a rack, a bar, a table and a whole kitchen.
Since the kitchen is a room with a high degree of humidity, GKLVO or GKLV should be used.
The abundance of finishing methods makes it possible to focus on the design, highlighting its originality, or to make it invisible, designing the surface in a single color palette with the design of the room.
There are many materials through which you can create original things with your own hands. Some craftsmen build furniture even from ordinary PVC bottles.
Such unusual, but at the same time attractive products can be counted as a table under the name "glass river".
The table acquired this name thanks to a glass insert or an epoxy resin fill in the middle of the table plate. Visually, the table looks like a mountain gorge, in the hollow of which a river flows. It turns out a very beautiful effect.
Necessary tools
Along with the material of the structural elements of the table and facing materials to give it an excellent appearance that meets the requirements, in the process of work you will need the following.
- Furniture corners for pairing elements.
- Euroscrews (furniture coupling screws). If it is supposed to work with thick layers of wood, elongated ones will also be necessary. Together with them, it is advisable to immediately acquire a specialized cone-step drill and decorative plugs.
- Wood screws.
- Pencil for marking, tape measure, level, sandpaper.
- Electric jigsaw and circular face saw (it is handy to cut elements at the required angle).
- Planer (if you plan to work with wood).
- Screwdriver (it can also be operated as an electric drill).
- Angle grinder.
- Electric drill.
- Construction hair dryer or iron.
How to make?
Making a table for the kitchen with our own hands, we will analyze the example of an ordinary dining table. First of all, we will prepare the tools and materials that are listed above and will be required for work. After that, we mark out the details of the furniture. We start with the table top, as this is the largest element of the product. By configuration, it can be: square, oval, round or rectangular. If you started to build a table of an unusual configuration, markup according to schemes, sketches.
Next, we apply a drawing of the side supports to the source material - these will be the legs of the created table.
As a rule, they reproduce a chess piece by configuration. If you wish, you can make a different configuration at your discretion. The main condition is that the design is stable.
Then we mark out the lower and upper crossbars that will connect the racks and in this way will add reliability to the structure.
Remember that the lower cross member is invariably twice as wide as the upper one. Its configuration is diverse. Basically, the legs are placed from the edge of the surface of the table at a distance of 15-20 centimeters.
At the next stage, we carry out the cutting of parts. We lay the material on the table. Cut the lid using a jigsaw. To prevent the occurrence of chips, it is necessary to put plywood under the bottom. In the same way, cut out the remaining elements. Do not let the material sag. As a result, the toolkit may break, or breakage of the cut part will occur. After the details are cut out, we process their edges with an angle grinder or we will go over them with sandpaper.
Using an edge tape and a plastic profile, we perform trimming. First of all, we put the profile on the edge of the surface.
In places of angular kink, the profile must be heated with a hairdryer or an iron and then bent. For more secure fixation, use universal glue.
After that, we perform trimming of the cross members and legs using an edge tape. We preliminary prepare the surface by cleaning it from dust, grease and dirt. With a heated iron, we press the tape onto the edge, thereby gluing it. With a sharp knife, we cut off all the excess.Roughnesses that have appeared are carefully removed with sandpaper. Similarly, we process the edges of the remaining parts.
Assembly work is carried out in the following sequence. Using euroscrews, we connect the legs with crossbars, placing the upper one in such a way as to prevent the countertop from bending. Fix the bottom at the level of 20-25 centimeters from the floor. We place the countertop on the finished supporting structure, fix it with the help of corners. On the legs we fix the legs-pads. We close the furniture screws with plugs. Assembly completed.
