The kitchen dining area is a place for relaxation, eating, pleasant conversations with households and friends. That is why many try to make it as comfortable and convenient as possible. If there is enough space in the room, you can equip this area with soft chairs. They will be able to provide everyone with a comfortable pastime. This article will tell you about what chairs are, what are made of and how to make the right choice.

Features

Traditional kitchen furniture are stools and chairs. They are compact and lightweight, but at the same time they cannot provide vacationers with the maximum level of comfort. The best alternative to such products is a kitchen chair. These pieces of furniture have long ceased to be a sign of luxury - they can be found in the interiors of many modern apartments.

The stores offer a large assortment of chairs of any size, color and shape.

Thanks to this variety, you can choose the best option for any type of kitchen, regardless of the size of the room and the style of the interior in which it is decorated.

Among another important feature distinguish high quality upholstery, since the “clothes” of the chair must withstand temperature extremes, high humidity and other “difficult” conditions.

Despite all the benefits, Some owners of apartments and houses do not prefer chairs. This is primarily due to the high cost of products (compared with the usual chairs and stools), as well as their large dimensions.

Materials of manufacture

Regardless of the models, all chairs have a frame base and a filler that gives the products softness. Upholstery is responsible for the decorativeness of products. All these components are made of various materials, which will be discussed later.

Frame

For the manufacture of frame bases used metals, different types of wood and PVC. All these materials must meet a number of requirements - it is necessary that they withstand high humidity and high temperature.

  1. Metal frames are made of steel, iron, aluminum. The best options for the kitchen are titanium or chrome. Aluminum is light in weight, but during operation it darkens and loses its attractiveness.
  2. Wooden frames are made of pine, beech, oak or larch. To give greater resistance to various adverse factors, the surface of the wood is treated with special compounds, painted or varnished.
  3. PVC is a fairly lightweight material, not afraid of temperature surges and high humidity. It is easy to care for and aesthetic. As its main drawback, poor resistance to mechanical damage is noted, which is why scuffs and scratches often appear on its surface.

In addition, hardboard can be used for the production of frames.

The material is famous for its plasticity, due to which it is possible to make frames with unusual and original forms from it.

The hardboard is easy to care for, it is durable and reliable, however, scratches from careless handling often remain on it.

Furniture with frames made of one material is quite rare on sale. Most often, manufacturers combine them.

Filler

The comfort of products and their durability will depend on this material. As a filler, manufacturers use:

  • spring blocks, which can be dependent (a group of interconnected springs) and independent (orthopedic base);
  • PPU (polyurethane foam) - synthetic filler obtained by foaming polymers;
  • synthetic winterizer - non-woven fabric, most often used in the manufacture of budget decisions;
  • stratofiber - the material made from natural and synthetic fibers is ideal for creating furniture with increased softness;
  • felt - natural filler made from animal hair;
  • padded jacket - the basis of cotton wool and various fabrics;
  • holofiber - A variety of synthetic winterizer (visually represents small balls made of polyester materials);
  • foam rubber - type of polyurethane foam of low quality (such a filler quickly loses its operational properties).

It is also used as a filler. latex, durafil and periotec.

Upholstery

Upholstery materials used for the manufacture of kitchen furniture should dry quickly, be easy to care for and not attract dust. Upholstery that meets these requirements is made from:

  • tapestry;
  • genuine leather, leatherette or eco leather;
  • microfiber;
  • nylon.

Upholstery from all materials with pile is considered less successful. The fact is that during operation they are electrified, attract dust and small fat fractions formed during cooking. As a result, the pile very quickly loses its aesthetics.

Types of designs

All chairs can be divided into two large groups: frame and frameless. The former have a rigid base, the latter are soft bags in the form of a ball or drop. The most popular models used in the kitchen are wire-frame. The range of such solutions is very rich.

  1. Compact modelslooking externally like chairs with armrests. They are as mobile as chairs, but comfortable as chairs. Small and comfortable, they fit easily into a small space.
  2. Seats - stylish small models, the design of which does not include armrests. They are equipped with a padded seat and back. Compact and convenient solution for small kitchens.
  3. Corner with a berth or without it. They have an angular configuration. Designed for placement in the right or left kitchen corner. Save space as much as possible. Options with a berth are equipped with a transformation mechanism. If necessary, they can be decomposed and get a full single bed for a night's rest.
  4. Chair bed. This is a folding option, which, thanks to the transformation mechanisms, is able to transform into a single or double bed. Despite the functionality, it is not recommended to place armchairs in the kitchen, as they can take up a large space when unfolded. In addition, sleep near numerous household appliances cannot be called healthy.
  5. Bar swivel chairs. As a rule, these models are equipped with one leg with the possibility of height adjustment. This is ideal for kitchens with a breakfast bar. By adjusting the height on such chairs it will be comfortable for both children and adults.
  6. Semicircular models. Such solutions have a "fused" design. They combined the back, seat and armrests. Semicircular chairs have an exquisite custom design.

A huge assortment of chairs makes their choice difficult. There are many models, it is very easy to get confused in their variety, because of which you can subsequently purchase furniture that is not suitable for the kitchen.

How to choose?

When looking for a kitchen chair, you need to consider a number of important parameters. The main ones are:

  • style;
  • functionality;
  • dimensions and configuration;
  • a variety of manufacturing materials;
  • manufacturer reputation.

    The color scheme of products has no borders - there are both monophonic options (from pastel shades to bright flashy ones) and models with prints, patterns and various compositions. When choosing a color palette, it is necessary to take into account the tones of existing furniture items. You can choose chairs that are suitable in color to the rest of the furniture, or focus on them, visually making them a “bright spot” in the interior.

    Choosing a color, do not forget about practicality.

    If products with fabric upholstery are selected, then light colors are not a very good solution (except for options made of genuine or artificial leather). No matter how neat the hostess is, the surface of the chairs in the kitchen is often dirty. On light upholstery even small impurities will immediately catch your eye.

    The next thing you need to pay attention to is configuration and design. DFor cuisine, they most often prefer frame options. Of course, frameless soft bags are very convenient. However, they are low, so it will not be possible to settle on them at the table for eating. This solution is best suited for sitting in front of the TV, reading a book or newspaper and for other passive relaxation.

    Product sizes are selected in accordance with the dimensions of the room. It is impractical to buy massive furniture in a small kitchen. If the room is small, it is recommended to look at the half-chairs or other miniature models. Narrow corner chairs will be a good purchase. For a spacious kitchen, you can choose any size products - small, medium or large. Everything will depend on the preferences of the owners.

    Do not forget about the functionality. There are models of chairs with drawers. Such an acquisition will be successful if the hostess does not have enough space to store various kitchen utensils. There are also armchairs with shelves. If necessary, in an extra bed, armchairs will become the best acquisition.

    When choosing products for seating, it is important to pay attention to the reputation of the manufacturer.Furniture items at low cost from unknown companies can be made from low-quality components. Their upholstery may soon be frayed, the structure will become loose, and the outer parts of the case will be scratched.

    Accommodation options

    To successfully arrange furniture in the kitchen, you must first equip the working area. The remaining space should be used to accommodate the dining group, the basis of which is a table and chairs. The choice of location will depend on the purpose of the furniture. For example, corner models and large-sized options are located in the corner, bar solutions are located near the bar counter, bag-chairs in a separate area intended for relaxation.

    If the kitchen has a dining round table, you can place around it from 2 to 6 chairs. In this case, the dining area will be in the middle of the room. Armchairs-beds and other transforming models should be installed so that they are conveniently put forward, and the table did not become this obstacle.

    When arranging the chairs, one should show imagination in order to organically fit them into the general interior.

    However, it is important to consider that upholstered furniture should not be placed near a stove or sink.

    These are the main sources of pollution - next to them, products will constantly get dirty and require wet cleaning.

    Good examples in the interior

    There are many successful examples illustrating the harmonious arrangement of kitchen chairs. In the photo below in the recreation area is a small round table. Around it are placed 4 compact leather half-chairs.

    Minimalist style kitchen. In this case, the table is located in the middle of the room, and around it are armchairs selected to match the decor on the windows.

    The following example shows how in a spacious kitchen you can arrange chairs in a dining group and furniture for seating in a recreation area.

    The design of kitchen chairs can be different. In the video below, see an overview of some models.
