Experts are convinced that in order to create a unique design of a kitchen with a refrigerator on an area of only 8 square meters, there are many tools. But with a great desire, even without the help of a professional, you can independently make this space not only functional, but also aesthetically attractive.

Rules for designing a small kitchen

Designing the arrangement of furniture in the kitchen with more than a modest area of 8 square meters. m It is important to learn the following points.

  • It is better to start planning with the position of the sink - usually it is in the place of the communication unit. Designers advise transferring it to another sector only in extreme cases, especially since often this requires permission to restructure the living space.
  • After the decision is made, it is easier to determine the placement of the refrigerator and stove. The optimal distance from this technique to the sink is 1 m.
  • With a wide windowsill, it always makes sense to make it a continuation of the kitchen. It can serve as a countertop for a dining or serving table or a work surface. A family of 2 people may well use this space for eating.
  • In the case when the kitchen is long and narrow, the only right decision is to make an angular layout or install a functional part of the furniture along one of the walls to leave space for the dining area.

Before starting work it is advisable to schematically depict a plan with the dimensions set, using for this a sheet of plain marked-up drawing paper.

Fortunately, there is another option - a special computer program in which you can create a project of your kitchen.

You will have to decide in advance on the quantity, dimensions and shape of the furniture, a set of household kitchen appliances - the room should have everything you need. But this does not mean that you need to abandon such large-sized equipment as a washing machine or dishwasher, since these objects can be built into cabinets and pencil cases. With the right calculation, you can fit everything in the kitchen.

What layout to choose?

The placement options are very diverse with different room configurations. And yet, three types of design are most in demand.

Rectangular

Rectangular layout when furniture is installed along three walls:

  • with the square shape of the room, it will look perfect if instead of the dining table put a small bar, which organically continues the functional area;
  • this option is also suitable if the dining room is outside the kitchen space;
  • this is a good solution for a studio apartment when combining the kitchen with the next room - then the dining place can be placed between the kitchen and the living room area.

Linear placement option

Such a layout provides for the arrangement of furniture along one of the walls, including a refrigerator, household appliances and work surfaces. But you will have to choose narrow models of pedestals and tall cabinets to compensate for the space in width.

This arrangement has one minus - an excessively large distance from the refrigerator to the sink, however, with a long and narrow form of the room, it is rather difficult to avoid this inconvenience - here you will need creative ideas from a professional designer.

But something the owners themselves can do:

  • use smooth headset facades and lack of handles;
  • choose the option of built-in equipment;
  • when decorating, try not to use any horizontal elements.

Corner

This arrangement is considered best if the room is square or slightly elongated. This gives great scope for creative ideas that can make the room harmonious and cozy. With this layout, it is also possible to design a dining area with a soft corner or a compact sofa in combination with a small table for eating.

In this case, the hob or sink can be installed in the corner, in the same place in its lower part the cabinet can be filled with the necessary fittings, and this space will be used to the maximum.

Options for visual increase in area

To visually expand a small 8-meter space, you can consider combining it with adjacent rooms and non-residential premises. It is not necessary to carry out a complete demolition of the wall, it can be partial. In addition, a flat TV or painting that will fit seamlessly into the dining area will decorate the partition left in the center.

Instead of dismantled walls, arched spans of various shapes will look beautiful.

If the apartment has a loggia, and it is located next to the kitchen, the association will make it possible to arrange a cozy dining room with a sofa and a table, and a compact corner will turn it into a comfortable place for the whole family to relax.

It has already been said about combining with the living room - this is a good option, it is here that you do not need to completely get rid of the wall, but with a small area, you have to do it.

Then at the junction of the sectors it is recommended to install a real solid dining table with chairs or a bar counter - it all depends on the size of the room.

8 meter kitchen design

Remembering that the climatic conditions of the kitchen are characterized by increased humidity, overheating, temperature extremes, any materials used for decoration should have high wear resistance and immunity to most external influences.

Design tips will be as follows.

  • Since 8 meters is a rather small size of the room, the kitchen should be decorated in bright, neutral colors.
  • Finishing materials in this case are selected taking into account the preferences of the owners. With a well-chosen color and texture, both wallpaper and panels, plaster and paint will look great.
  • If the walls are pasted over or painted in a plain color, then the kitchen apron, on which elements of mosaics, ornaments, fresco paintings are placed, can stand out as a decoration detail.
  • The ceiling can only be white, plastered or painted. If its height is more than 2.7 meters, then it is possible to create suspended or tension structures in which it is convenient to mount spotlights that provide additional, soft and diffused light.

It is better to use ceramic tiles as a floor covering for the kitchen, but in the studio apartment it will be located only in the area of the working space. Transitions from tiled to parquet or laminate flooring can be made contrasting or inconspicuous, but usually in these places suitable interior items are installed that by themselves delimit zones.

The preferred colors for the kitchen are 8 meters in size - vanilla, gray, creamy, pale turquoise, columbine, olive, pearl white, beige, lavender.

The main thing is to observe several important requirements:

  • Do not apply more than three basic shades;
  • avoid voluminous and excessively dark patterns;
  • choose smooth glossy surfaces;
  • abandon the bright cutting eye tones;
  • allowed the presence of plain wallpaper with a fine pattern, slightly darker than the background.

Also a necessary condition is good illumination of the room. In addition to the chandelier, it is advisable to add several ceiling or wall lights in the working area. The room will appear more spacious and wider if the lighting of the hinged shelves and cabinets is provided.

In the combined rooms, you can add auxiliary sources of light - lamps on tables and floor lamps, giving additional comfort.

The design of the room also includes purely decorative objects, such as paintings and panels, home plants in flower pots and pots, fruit vases, candles, handmade baskets made of natural material. But there should be few such bright accents, otherwise the kitchen will look colorful and even tasteless. Windows can be decorated with blinds or curtains to the tone of bright accents in the interior of the room.

As for the style, for a small space with a corner layout it is allowed to choose such directions as Provence, minimalism, modern, classic, as well as an incredibly elegant French art deco style.
