What birds live in Crimea?
The Crimean peninsula is considered an unusually beautiful place, where there are many representatives of flora and fauna. Thanks to the high mountains, sweeping trees in this area, many animals and birds have found their place of residence. A variety of birds pleases the eye of tourists and locals.
General information about the birds of Crimea
Scientists have determined that the avifauna of the Crimean peninsula from representatives of 19 orders, 300 species of birds are noted in its description. In accordance with the nature and duration of stay in this area, nesting and non-nesting birds are present here. The first are settled, summer-nesting. In summer, nesting birds, in turn, are subdivided into migratory, wintering, and accidentally infested.
Such birds are the most important for the region, since for a long time they affect its flora and fauna.
Passing birds tend to visit the peninsula at a certain period of the year, thereby destroying parasitic insects in the area where they rest and feed. These representatives are objects of hunting. The names of nesting birds are striking in their numbers, it is this group that has the largest percentage in the Crimea, 60% of the total number of birds. Among them, an equal number of settled and migratory.
On the peninsula recorded about 17 species of wintering birds. Rare species are represented mainly by predatory representatives. The landscapes and nature of the peninsula is an important factor in determining the species diversity of birds, their feeding habits, migrations, and biological characteristics.

The Crimean steppe region was inhabited by living creatures later than the rest of the plots. People from the steppes of Ukraine living on the territory have different species composition. On the Crimean peninsula, steppe birds occupied a significant percentage of the territory, however, many birds are on the verge of extermination. A striking representative of the steppes of this region can be called a strepta, sandpiper-tirkushu, as well as a lover of night vigils - sandpiper-avdotku.
Since there is dry air in the steppe, insufficient moisture, poor vegetation cover, a lot of plowed land with pesticides, the number of species diversity of birds is not so great. Throughout the year, bustard can be found on the territory of the Crimean steppes, this fast steppe inhabitant is considered the heaviest flying bird. In Crimea, these types of lark live:
- field;

The above birds are not perched on trees, they are "land". Quail and strep can remain for the winter, if the year turned out to be warm. These birds are considered excellent runners who have the ability to hide. The following birds are used to settling in the old steppe forest-steppe.

Rare species
The variety of avifauna of Crimea can amaze many. It is unique and fragile, therefore its preservation directly depends on human activities. In the 60s of the last century on the peninsula there lived wonderful pairs of Demoiselle Cranes, which cannot be said about today. This site is famous for the extinct birds, there are also protected species.
In comparison with previous years, there are not so many bustards and bustards left on the territory of Crimea. The decline in their numbers is associated with a decrease in places for nesting, plowing up the steppe, as well as the use of chemicals. The endangered birds of the peninsula include an eagle and a pink starling. This territory rarely becomes a bird nesting site, often a wintering place.
To date, among the individuals listed in the Red Book, you can also include a swan, which is strictly prohibited to hunt.
