Women, by their nature, always strive for novelty, love to try everything new and experiment with their appearance. Especially when it comes to hair color, because changing it today is the easiest way. So many dyes, care products and other hairdressing novelties have appeared that every girl can choose something to her taste and under her hair. It remains only to find out what subtleties you need to consider when choosing hair dyeing methods. And specifically in this article we will tell you what suits the owners of dark hair more.

General principles

Brunettes and brown-haired women are attractive and interesting in themselves; it is not for nothing that many men prefer burning women to all other women. However, dark-haired women themselves often want to diversify their appearance, since they consider it somewhat boring. At the same time, getting the desired color is not so simple. Coloring curls of dark shades has many nuances that are worth knowing.

Today there is a huge selection of different staining techniques: highlighting, bronding, balayazh, batatush, ombre. At the same time, new fashionable chips appear that you want to try on your hair. Some are more suitable for long curls or medium length, others - for short ones. We will find out which of them can best be played on dark hair and how to achieve the best results.

Color selection

Despite the fact that the main criterion in this matter is taste preferences, every woman wants to know how easily her wishes will be realized.We learn which colors are easier to recreate on dark hair, and which ones should be treated with caution.

Natural dyes

First of all, consider natural dyes. Today they do not enjoy the former popularity, but they give the hair not only a new shade, but also a healthy shine, since bleaching does not require. These include:

  • ground coffee;
  • Basma
  • strong tea;
  • Walnut;
  • sage.

At the same time, of course, it will not work to get a really bright shade, and it’s worth waiting for the result after several procedures. By the way, after henna and basma, chemical dyes can behave unpredictably on the hair, so it is not recommended to do one dye soon after another.

Tinting

Consider dyeing dark hair in a gentle way - tinting. For this, a very small percentage of the oxidizing agent is used, which minimally affects the hair. However, the color applied in this way lasts from 2 to 4 weeks. Usually dark hair tinted in the same shade or slightly darker. This is a good way to return the hair to a saturated color if it has faded in the sun or faded as a result of adverse environmental influences, stress, lack of vitamins, etc.

Persistent staining

With persistent staining, colors that are not too far in the color spectrum are most often recommended. This is chestnut, chocolate, dark cherry, burgundy, etc. They look noble, refreshing and adding a new touch to a woman's appearance, but at the same time preserving her usual look.

However, in most cases, such changes are few, because the temptation to try yourself at least once in the role of a glamorous blonde or red beast is so great. Especially often, dark-haired girls dream of getting a cool shade of blond like platinum.

It should be noted that the success of this event depends on the nature of the curls. For example, Oriental women or Italians have so poorly bleached hair that in most cases they don’t even try to do it. But dark-blond Slavs often get quite successful result after clarification, close to natural.

Staining the curls in a light color for the first time, they must be clarified with an oxidizing agent. After this procedure, a dye of the selected shade is applied to the hair. If everything is done correctly, then you can count on a decent result, that is, get those same white curls.

There is a method of gradual staining, which requires a lot of patience, because in this case, clarification occurs in stages. In this case, you need to dye your hair several times, each time using a shade slightly lighter than the previous one. Taking a step in three shades, you can gradually get closer to what you want to get. As a result, the hair will remain healthy and will not lose its natural shine, as this can happen in the case of normal coloring in one go.

Staining options

Today, conventional dyeing in one color is no longer enjoying its former popularity. They were replaced by trendy chips and every year the number of new trends in hairdressing is growing steadily. We will analyze the most trending, as well as long-established, favorite painting techniques for dark hair.

Airtach

The airtach technique allows you to organically “connect” your and dyed hair. The master creates glare of a different color on dark hair. They not only make the hairstyle brighter and more unusual, thanks to a special way of applying paint over time, colored locks naturally mix with the main hair, so even after regrowth the hairstyle has a well-groomed appearance. This technique is suitable for hair of any length except very short. Let's consider it step by step:

  • hair from the crown is previously divided into strands;
  • then one of them is taken and lifted at a right angle;
  • they blow it with a stream of air so that it slightly fluffs;
  • The “thinned” strand is painted on the foil and wrapped, in the same way the master works with all the hair of the crown.

Colorization

All the familiar coloring has many subspecies, but in the generally accepted sense, this word means dyeing hair with strands in several colors. Here you should not limit yourself at all, since the choice of color is absolutely free. You can give preference even to the brightest tones, but for this, of course, you will have to lighten the curls with an oxidizing agent. At the same time, owners of multi-layer haircuts can limit themselves to coloring only the lower layer, and single-layer ones - choose California technique.

    It is believed that owners of pale skin, close to white, are more suitable for highlighting strands such cold colors as ash or platinum, and to create a bright creative image - blue, green, purple, pink.

    Only a fashionable gray color is better for them to exclude, so as not to overdo it with pallor. But the “warm” skin tone will be closer honey, red, hazelnut, cognac, vanilla, golden hues. Here is one of the methods of this staining.

    • Strands half a centimeter wide are taken and lubricated with a diluted oxidizer in the desired proportion, after which they are wrapped with foil. Keep the composition for about half an hour.
    • After the drug is washed off and the hair is dried, you can apply different dyes. In order not to get confused in the colors, it is recommended to sign the cups.
    • Select the discolored areas and clip the curls with clips. Choose one of them from one strand, color it with the desired color and wrap it in foil.
    • Keep the dye as long as required in the annotation. Do not forget which strands were painted before others, so as not to overexpose them.

    Marble

    Marble staining involves the use of two closely related shades on all hair. Chestnut, chocolate, coffee are excellent for the basis of such a color, and the second tone may be from a red scale and it will mix with an oxidizing agent. The main thing is not to allow too bright colors like violet, since “marble” eliminates this. Application of paint can be performed in different ways: zigzag, darn, veil, etc.

    Bronzing

    Compared to other painting methods, this one is quite gentle. The word itself combines two words - brown and blond, which can be understood as a compromise between two opposite shades. To obtain effective results, this technique requires high professionalism of the master. Best of all, such a painting is suitable for brown-haired and dark blond ones - then your color does not need to be darkened. Darker hair has to be lightened a little.

    • Two paints are prepared, one of which is a tone lighter, and the other is darker than the base.
    • Several strands are pulled (unlike highlighting, you do not need to take them symmetrically).
    • Three centimeters from the root, they are painted in dark color. In this case, the tips of 5 cm are covered with light paint. On bangs and temples more light accents are made.
    • After the strands are dyed, the master gently strokes the remaining hair with careful strokes. This is the most difficult moment in creating a reservation, but it is precisely this that allows you to achieve a natural result.

      "Tiger's Eye"

      Reminds the previous technique of armoring. It is a mixture of noble and "delicious" colors: chocolate and caramel. Here's how it works.

      • Choose thin strands of hair in random order.
      • Lighten them, indenting at a distance of 2 to 4 cm from the roots. The composition is left for about 20 minutes.
      • The oxidizing agent is washed off, after which the clarified hair is chosen with a thin brush and the colors are applied in a chaotic manner. Wait 30 minutes and rinse.

      Ombre

      Ombre became popular earlier than a hut or a shuttle, so every girl has heard about it. It suggests that the dye is distributed over all hair, and not over individual strands.Light tone usually lies on the tips to a height of 10 cm or to the cheekbones. The colors of the ends can be different - from blond to cherry.

      Balayazh

      When it is performed, the hairdresser applies the paint with light, careful strokes. In this case, the colored locks have a different degree of coloring, since the touch of the brush along the length of the hair has a different pressure. Thus, the hairstyle looks natural and it seems as if the curls themselves slightly changed color in the sun. Usually, foil is not taken for this technique, the paint is aged just like that or under the film.

        Such dyeing looks especially impressive on graded hairstyles and curled curls.

        Brunettes, as a rule, are advised to pay attention to such colors as shades of burgundy, caramel, cherry, copper, eggplant, dark and light chocolate, caramel, but, of course, everyone’s favorite blond remains a hit.

        Order of execution:

        • hair is divided into separate strands, immediately tightening each rubber band;
        • all ends of the hair are lightened, for this, paint is applied to them and foil is applied on top;
        • after about 20 minutes, the master slightly runs the brush along the strands in the direction from the tips up, not reaching the crown;
        • after the same time, these smears are absorbed, and you can wash your hair.

        Shatush

        It is a coloring of strands, as a rule, in natural colors. It looks beautiful on the hair, and at the same time does not create an excessively contrasting image. Usually a shade is taken a couple of tones lighter than the base, and this can be cognac, caramel, coffee with milk, etc.

        • The hair is divided into parts and fixed. Thin strands are drawn from them and combed.
        • Vertical strokes are made on them. At the same time, due to scratching, the paint does not touch the curls along the entire length, but only slightly.
        • After 40 minutes, the paint is washed off.

        Stencil

        This very unusual coloring is suitable only for the most creative people who are trying to stand out from the crowd and support fashion trends. It is suitable only for owners of smooth straight hair, on which the lines will look clearly and expressively. Ideas of drawings can be any, among popular options - geometric shapes, floral patterns, leopard spots, feathers, various symbols.

        On dark hair, all these prints look bright and extraordinary, they allow you to make bright accents and express yourself. For all its apparent simplicity, dyeing your hair in this way is not at all easy, even if you make a drawing on your side, so it’s better to contact the salon.

        Neon

        Using a relatively new technology of neon dyeing will help to make a dark hairstyle truly bright. It does not last long, it will come off after seven washes, but the effective result is worth the money spent. The process of creating such a masterpiece of hairdressing is quite understandable. First, the desired strands are clarified with an oxidizing agent, and then a special gel is applied to them, which allows you to get not just colored, but literally light-emitting curls.

        It looks especially impressive on completely smooth, fluffy hair.

        All of the above techniques and types of coloring have their own options, which are constantly changing. In order to recreate one of them on your hair, it is better to contact qualified colorists. If you come to the hairdresser without special skills, then even with all his desire, he may not live up to your expectations.

        Which oxidizing agent to choose?

        Everyone knows that a brunette or even a brown-haired woman will not be able to noticeably change her hair color without lightening. This is done using a special oxidizing agent, which is mixed in a glass or ceramic dish.

        Ideally, the oxidizing agent should be the same manufacturer as the paint itself. So calculating the desired ratio will be easier and faster, and the result will be more predictable. If these two products are related to different companies, the chemical process can go in an unexpected way, why the resulting color will turn out to be different, and the hair will be injured.This is because the composition of drugs from different companies also varies somewhat.

        When choosing an oxidizing agent, the basic tone of the hair is taken into account. In the palette of natural shades, dark ones occupy the first six lines, where 1 is bluish-black, and 6 is dark blond. So, the oxidizing agent of 1.5% is intended simply for toning and it will not change the color of the hair. If we take a 3% oxidizing agent for 3-6 colors, then lightening will occur only by one tone, and it is not recommended at all in the first three colors.

        6% oxide is needed for permanent coloring, for color highlighting. 9% oxide can not only prepare hair for bright dyeing, but also lighten dark hair. 12% oxidizing agent can highlight hair from 1 to 4 colors, that is, even the darkest. Such a powerful concentrate discolors 5-7 tones and is capable of severely damaging the hair structure, therefore not all masters use it in their work. It is best to dye your hair in light colors with a deviation from the base of 4 tones.

        Also note that all of these oxides can be mixed to obtain substances of a different concentration, for example, 7.5%. An experienced master always evaluates the condition of the hair before starting work.

        So, porous or already tired from chemical effects of hair will require a lower concentration of oxidizing agent. In general, a professional should prepare the compositions for staining. The hair of each woman is individual, which means that the result in one case or another is unpredictable and only an experienced look can determine how to change the oxidizer formula.

        This information applies to natural hair, but if you apply a clarifier on colored curls, then the resulting color can be a very unpleasant surprise.

        How to dye your hair?

        Recommendations for coloring dark curls are generally the same as for other hair. The main thing, as we wrote above, is to choose the oxidizing agent correctly.

        1. Staining begins with the occipital area, because the reaction to it takes the longest. Curls on the temples and bangs, due to the structural features, absorb color very quickly.
        2. To get a brighter shade, curls are wrapped in foil, and if your goal is the effect of sun glare, which is now very often used in modern techniques, then you need to leave it in the open air.
        3. Stand back a little from the roots so as not to injure the hair follicles. Moreover, now many fashionable types of staining suggest the presence of dark roots.
        4. Typically, the paint is kept on the head from half an hour to 45 minutes, depending on the condition of the hair or the desired result.

        Colored hair care

        As we already wrote, most trending hair dyes involve at least partial lightening, therefore, their daily care should be enhanced by restorative procedures.

        1. When washing your head immediately after the salon, use a specialized color fixative to neutralize the alkali.
        2. Do not neglect the tinting agents that the master will recommend to you - they will save the result for a long time.
        3. Every week, nourish your hair with a mask of vitamins so that they do not fade and retain shine.
        4. Limit thermal effects on curls. Leave the iron and styling products for special occasions, and if possible, use a hairdryer less often.
        5. A familiar shampoo is really worth replacing with a shampoo for colored hair.
        6. Like any aggressive effect, staining can lead to a more frequent appearance of cut ends. Trim them regularly to make your hair look well-groomed.
        7. On the beach, hide your hair from the sun under a hat, and in the sea - under a plastic hat - this will help maintain a rich color for a long time.

        Beautiful examples

        It is believed that the tiger eye technique is the choice of purposeful successful women who want to demonstrate their strength to everyone. Barely feline shades in the hair very elegantly complement this image.

        This example shows that creative drawings really look the most brilliant on black hair. The dark background provides contrast and clarity of the image, which makes the hair look like a canvas with a picture.

        Pixie haircut is the best suited for fashionable creative girls who choose dynamic and conceptual images. Dark clothes and make-up define the overall style, and a bright hairstyle adds personality to it. Despite the initial dark hair, the master managed to achieve high-quality and rich hair color on the top and bangs.

        Partial dyeing is a great way to get pearl-white curls without damaging the hair roots. In this photo, the color transition looks contrasted, but not too sharp. Most effectively, such hairstyles look exactly with a curl. For a solemn occasion, you can wind the curls with a curling iron, and in everyday life wear straight hair, because the black roots still remain in trend.

        Thick and beautiful dark hair looks spectacular and shiny, so many hairdressers dissuade them from repainting. But if the thirst for change is stronger, then with the competent approach of the master, you can achieve very impressive results.

        Fashionable dyeing styles and quality care products maintain a healthy appearance of dark hair even after dyeing in bright colors. Make a choice in favor of professionals and the result will certainly please you!
