Burdock oil is obtained from the root of a burdock or, as it is also called, burdock. The product is extremely popular and can be found at any pharmacy or cosmetic supermarket.

But much more valuable is oil cooked with your own hands. You will be 100% sure of its naturalness, plus such a product contains more useful components.

Essential Ingredients

To make burdock oil at home, you will need burdock root and an oil base.

As for the root, it can be dry or fresh. For the manufacture of oily liquid, the underground part of the plant, collected during the periods from April to May and from August to November, is suitable. That is, in those months when the plant does not bloom, and all the nutrients are concentrated in the root.

Use large, fleshy roots with a thickness of 3 to 5 cm. It is important to collect them from a young plant, as it is more juicy and saturated with valuable elements, unlike two-year-olds.

To distinguish a young plant from an old one, focus on thorns. Young animals do not have them at all.

If you plan to cook a product from fresh root, then know that it should be used immediately after collection. It is not recommended to store it for a long time.

After you have collected the raw materials, prepare them for cooking:

  • take the spine and select the most fleshy part from it;
  • remove leaves and shoots;
  • thoroughly rinse the root with water with a brush to remove soil and other dirt;
  • let it dry;
  • cut off rotten, damaged parts.

Dry root is stored for a long time, but it is harvested in advance.To properly dry the burdock root, take a peeled, prepared raw material, cut it lengthwise into several parts, spread it on a material that passes air well. You can hang the roots.

Dry the raw materials in a dry and warm place, near a battery or oven. Or place it directly in the stove, heated to 45 °. It is also allowed to use electric dryers. If the root is dried correctly, it will break easily. Such a product has a light pleasant aroma, and the taste is slightly sweet. Store it for 2 to 3 years in a dry, tightly closed container.

But if you still prefer to use fresh root at any time, freeze it. To do this, fold the crushed raw materials in hermetically sealed bags and place in the freezer. Pre-roots must go through all stages of cleaning.

You need to defrost such a product in a natural way without pouring water. This will prevent the destruction of important elements.

As an oil base, olive, sunflower, sesame, almond and other cosmetic oils are used.

As for the production product, it uses mineral oil. This is an oil refining product, but it is harmless to the body. Among its beneficial qualities, hydration of the dermis is distinguished. It does not carry other valuable properties in itself, unlike natural oils.

Effective Recipes

To improve the condition of your hair and skin, various variations of the use of burdock oil have been invented.

  1. Mask for the face. Combine 5 g of chopped parsley leaves, aloe juice - 10 ml, 3-5 drops of oil. Put the mixture on your face, soak for half an hour, rinse.
  2. Mask against oily hair. 1 tbsp. tablespoon of oil + 1/4 part of grapefruit pulp + 5 drops of lemon oil + 10 drops of grape seed oil. The resulting mass should be massaged in the scalp, rinse with shampoo after half an hour.
  3. Mask against excessive hair loss. About 30 g of warm oil is combined with red pepper (on the tip of a teaspoon). Rubbed into the hair growth zone, put on a bag. The composition is kept up to half an hour, but if you feel an active burning sensation, wash it off earlier. Thanks to the pepper component, blood circulation of the scalp and the restoration of its cells are enhanced.

        Almost all procedures with burdock oil require the use of a warm agent. To properly heat it, you can put the required amount in a bowl and put on fire for just a couple of seconds. Its temperature should not be higher than 40 ° C.

        Another way of heating is a water bath. Take 2 containers: one larger, one smaller. Pour water into a large and boil, then reduce the heat. But the liquid should continue to bubble slightly.

        Place the required amount of oil in a smaller container and insert it into a large bowl. The oil will heat up gradually and evenly.

        Do not heat the oil in the microwave, as it is likely to overheat.
