Cats of Ukrainian Levka breed are as tender and cute as the flower in whose honor they were named. In addition, they have a rather outstanding appearance, which makes them especially popular among many pets.

Origin history

The breed Ukrainian levkoy was born relatively recently, about 10 years ago. However, despite this, it quickly became popular. All work on crossing animals was carried out by felinologist Elena Biryukova. She began working on the creation of this breed at the beginning of the XXI century, but she achieved the final results only after 4 years.

For the experiment, cats of completely different breeds were taken. These are the Don Sphinx and Scottish fold. As a result of this, the animals received a bald body from sphinxes and lop-eared from a Scottish cat breed. In addition, extraordinary beauties are distinguished by good health and excellent character.

The cat’s first appearance in the world aroused great interest not only among fans of original breeds, but also among specialists. Today this breed is already quite popular, but so far only in the CIS countries. But international organizations have not yet decided how they should relate to unusual Ukrainian cats.

But they are still allowed to participate in various exhibitions and competitions. So, more than 10 cats already have champion titles.

Description

These unusual animals can be distinguished by many characteristics.

  1. The head of the bald left-handed has a flat, slightly elongated shape. Above it looks more like a pentagon. But their convex forehead makes these animals unusually attractive.
  2. Almost a third of the head is occupied by a round face, while the cheekbones are quite pronounced. And also left-handed have interesting eyebrows.
  3. The nose is not too wide.
  4. Cats have slightly slanted eyes with a green or blue tint.
  5. Their neck is of medium length, and also quite muscular.
  6. It is worth noting the large ears of the left-wingers, as if made from mastic. They are slightly bent down.
  7. The body looks very beautiful. It is muscular with a not very wide chest.
  8. The paws of an animal of this breed are long and strong.
  9. They have almost no wool, but the whole body is covered with a delicate fluff. In the neck, eyes, ears, and also in the armpits there are small folds that make this breed of cats individual.
  10. The weight of the male reaches 6 kilograms, but the females of a dumb less - up to 5 kilograms.
  11. Their puberty occurs approximately 1 year after birth.

Character Features

This cat breed is distinguished by great devotion and love for its owners. They are very delicate and sociable, smart and intelligent, easy to learn and train.

These animals are highly intelligent. They almost never get involved in fights, but if all the same, this happens, then cats with dignity come out of this situation. In addition, leftists can carry out the most basic commands. Quickly accustomed to the toilet.

They easily make contact not only with their owners, but also with those animals that are in the same room with them. These handsome men are very fond of their masters and almost everywhere follow them "on the heels", while they purr, as if inviting them to a conversation with them.

If they are ignored, they will meow until they speak to them.

In addition, Ukrainian leftists have such traits in their character as the ability to control their emotions, be capricious, and also remember everything that concerns them. For example, if the owner is sitting or watching TV, the animal can wait for an hour for attention from him, while just looking into his eyes or licking his hand.

If we talk about the preferences of these animals, then they are more fond of being friends with adult owners than with their children. This does not mean that they are aggressive towards children. They just prefer the company of calmer people.

Cats of Ukrainian Levkoy breed are very companionable and curious, so the appearance of strangers in the house will not scare them, but, on the contrary, they will study them, that is, get to know them.

But too big and noisy parties to the left-wingers will not work, they don’t like this.

Conditions of detention

Ukrainian sphinxes are completely unpretentious in content. The only thing they need is a lot of heat, because they have practically no hair. Therefore, the temperature in a house or apartment, especially in winter, should always be high. But you can buy warm suits for your pets. And also it is necessary to protect them from drafts, and put warm litter for them.

In the summer, attention should be paid to ensure that the sun does not scorch their delicate skin, so it is necessary to protect animals from direct sunlight.

The breed of Ukrainian left-wingers is distinguished by a fear of heights. Therefore, do not be afraid that they will climb onto the closet or climb onto new curtains.

Since cats do not have hair, bathing them too often is not recommended.. It is best to carry out such procedures as animals become contaminated. This should be done with the help of special shampoos, as their skin secretes too much fat. For the same reason, it is necessary to wipe them quite often, otherwise the excess fat will remain on the furniture or wallpaper.

Like all cats, levkoys also need to trim their nails periodically. Use special forceps or claws for this. Such a procedure should be carried out with extreme caution, since it is possible to accidentally damage vessels that are placed very close.If you can’t cut the claws yourself, then it’s best to go to a veterinary clinic, where specialists will do it quickly and easily.

In addition, for your pets, you must definitely equip a place for their rest. It should have a claw point, a tray with a suitable filler. You need to accustom to him an animal from the first days of appearing in the house, otherwise then it will be much more difficult to do this. It is necessary to regularly change the filler so that there is no unpleasant smell in the house. And you can also purchase a special deodorant for the filler, which will absorb all unpleasant odors. You can buy it at any veterinary pharmacy.

Since animals cannot independently clean their ears, the owners need to do this. You can use special ear sticks. In addition, several times a week, you need to brush your pets teeth. Both toothbrush and toothpaste can be purchased at pet stores. With good care, animals can live up to 12 years, maybe more.

Specialists cannot say more precisely, since the breed has only recently been bred.

Feeding

Feeding animals of this breed is quite simple. These cats have a great appetite. You can use both industrial feed and natural. The first can be either dry or wet, the main thing is that they combine all the vitamins and minerals necessary for the development of cats.

If natural feed is used, it must necessarily consist of the following products:

  • sea fish;
  • boiled chicken or beef;
  • fresh cereals from various cereals;
  • boiled and raw vegetables, you can use mashed potatoes;
  • Vitamin supplements to buy at pet stores.

Disease

Although this breed has appeared recently, it is not protected from diseases. Like any another animal, cats may encounter some of them.

  • Cardiovascular disease can occur due to stress.
  • If the animal is exposed to rain, or walking in drafts, even inflammation can occur. In this case, you should definitely contact your veterinarian, since it will be difficult to cope with such a disease yourself.
  • Great appetite can lead to overeating. As a result, stomach problems can occur. In addition, left-handed people are prone to obesity. Therefore, their nutrition should be monitored well by setting a special feeding regimen for them.
  • As with other cats, leukemia may develop conjunctivitis or keratitis. To combat the disease, you can use ordinary tea lotions, or use special preparations for washing the eyes.
  • Ear disease may occur. In this case, the animal will meow plaintively, and touch itself with its paw behind the ears. You should immediately contact your veterinarian.
  • Often dermatitis or seborrhea appears on the skin. In this case, again, the veterinarian must prescribe a special ointment for skin care. It is not necessary to independently treat the disease, since you can only harm the animal.

Be sure to vaccinate your pets annually. Begin to be vaccinated as early as two months. Protection is carried out against diseases such as calcivirosis or rhinotracheitis. If the baby is taken from the nursery, then he already has all the necessary vaccinations.

    When the baby turns 3 months old, he is vaccinated against rabies and chlamydia. In addition, regular preventive work against fleas and helminths should be carried out regularly. You can use both tablets and liquid solutions. From fleas, you can put on your pet a special collar that will protect it for 6 months from these parasites. A keychain must be attached to the collar, where the owner's phone number will be written. This will be necessary in the event that the left-wing is lost.

    Summing up, we can say that Ukrainian levkoys are perfect for any home. After all, they are not too picky in care, and will also be a great friend when they appear in the family.

    The only thing they need is a little attention and love.
