Choosing a cat is a big responsibility. With the existing variety of breeds, it is important to choose a pet that will be a good friend. After all, each breed has its own advantages and disadvantages, animals differ in appearance and character. Fans of hairless cats should take a closer look at the dwarf breed, find out its features and rules for caring for animals.

Breed description

Many people fell in love with the sphinxes for their exotic appearance, good nature, and for those who are allergic to wool, this is a great chance to have a pet and not take pills regularly. Dwelf refers to new breeds that have not yet been fully studied; its appearance is even more unusual and interesting than that of the sphinxes. A smooth-haired cat has large ears, the ends of which are bent back. This appearance gives a resemblance to a fabulous creature resembling an elf.

The breed originated by crossing the Canadian Sphinx and the American Curl. This breed is considered experimental. The cat absorbed the main qualities from two breeds: it received a smooth surface from the sphinx, and unusual ears and good health from a curl.

It is believed that dwarves are more resistant to various diseases than sphinxes, and their immunity is stronger. With its flexibility and grace, the cat has well-developed muscles. They have short and strong limbs. Cats are larger, cats are smaller. But due to the lack of wool, they seem very tiny. But in fact, their weight is not so great, it is a medium-sized breed. A weight of 3 kilograms is normal for a cat. The cat may be larger. The tail in animals is thin and long, similar to rat.

Eyes attract attention no less than unusual ears. They are very large, round and expressive.Color can be blue, yellow, green; individuals with different eye colors are often found.

The cat of this breed has no wool, it is very warm to the touch, the surface resembles delicate velvet. Skin color can be gray, beige, with a blue tint, white, and even with spots throughout the body or in separate places.

Character

Dwelfs do not like to be alone, they simply need the presence of man. Therefore, very often they follow the owner everywhere and can simply be nearby and watch his actions, no matter what he does. They can not be left alone in the apartment for a long time, they are bored and feel lonely.

These cats are very friendly and good to all family members, although they can choose one owner. They are not opposed to being picked up, they can purr for hours at the owner’s hands. Get along well with young children. They calmly accept new pets and get along well with them, no matter who it is: a dog or a rat, a cat or a rabbit. There will be no aggression on their part.

But, like all cats, dwarves are vindictive. Just because they do not show negative qualities. But if you offend them, it is possible that revenge will not take long. A cat will not tolerate rudeness towards himself. Given that this cat has high intelligence, any issues can be resolved peacefully. You can kindly explain to the cat and tune it to the right habits, but in no case do not offend or use force.

The animal can become isolated in itself, harbor resentment, and trust in the owner will be lost forever. Therefore, the owner should be patient and demonstrate his love for the animal. The cat feels good about itself and will appreciate it. With the right attitude towards her will become a reliable and loyal friend.

A kitten of this breed is usually curious and playful, but the older the cat, the more laziness overcomes it. And more often it can be found lying on the sofa than jumping on the cabinets.

The owner’s attention is very important to them. Therefore, having acquired such a kitten, you need to be prepared for the fact that the pet will be very bored in the absence of the owner, wait for him at the door, and then follow him tail.

How to care?

Attractive appearance, good mood and behavior of a cat depends on how the owner takes care of her, whether she is properly caring.

  • Due to the lack of hair, these cats need more warmth than their plush and furry counterparts. Therefore, cold and drafts are fatal for them. When the room is cold, they tend to warm themselves in the hands of the owner and most often like to sleep under the covers. Many people purchase or sew clothes for hairless cats themselves, who feel comfortable in them and do not even resist when the owner puts them on.
  • Delicate skin requires special care. It must be cleaned with wet wipes, and periodically bathe the pet. By the way, they treat water procedures well and are not capricious when they are bathed.
  • You should also take regular care of your ears.. A large amount of sulfur accumulates in them, so they should be cleaned with a cotton swab dipped in a special spray, which can be purchased at the pet store. In addition, periodically you need to trim the claws.
  • Kittens get accustomed to the tray right away. And most often a cat accustoms them to this. At home, it is enough to show him a new place and pour there a familiar filler, to which the baby is already used. A distinctive feature of cats of this breed is that they do not mark the territory. Therefore, such problems are extremely rare.
  • As for nutrition, you need to choose one of the options: feed with specialized feed or homemade food. If you choose the first option, then the food can be purchased at the pet store, there are special food for hairless cats, which contain all the necessary vitamins and minerals for the development and health of the cat.In the second option, the cat should receive all the necessary nutrients, which means she needs to be given cereals, meat and fish, and vegetables and sour-milk products should be included in the diet.

Mixing both nutritional options is not recommended; this can lead to indigestion and other health problems. Due to improper care and nutrition, skin problems and acne can occur.

  • To avoid various diseases, you need to regularly do all the necessary vaccinations. With proper care and nutrition, cats of this breed can live up to 16-18 years.
  • Kitten content requires more attention. He needs either special food for kittens, or he needs to be fed porridge, ground meat and fish. But this is only the first 2 months. Then the baby will grow up, and you can give him food in pieces. Hygienic care is the same as for an adult cat, which includes the treatment of skin, ears, clippings.

Necessary and additional items

From the first days of appearing in the house, it is important to form the correct habits in the pet. Show him the tray. And if for some reason the kitten spoiled in another place, do not scold him, but show him the way to the tray.

And also from childhood it is necessary to train a cat to a scratching post, which should be in a certain place. It’s best to purchase a vertical claw tip; you can place a toy at the top. The kitten will quickly get used to the scratching post and will not spoil furniture and things in adulthood.

For fun cats, you can purchase a game complex. But given the fact that dwarves are calmer cats by nature than representatives of other breeds, you should not spend money on an expensive and large complex. Much more useful for a bald cat will be a cozy house where she will warm up in the cold, or a soft bed, where she will spend time with pleasure.
