Stainless steel cookware is very popular today. At a relatively low price, visually it looks presentable. On the shelves of shops you can find a large assortment of stainless steel cookware from various manufacturers. A good choice would be products of the Russian Katun brand.

Benefits

Crockery "Katun" has mostly positive reviews and is in demand among customers. Consumers are attracted not only by the universal design suitable for any interior style, but also by its relatively low cost in comparison with analogues. For the convenience of customers, stores offer single copies, from which you can make your own set of the most suitable containers specifically for you. You can also purchase ready-made sets of pots. Dishes from some series are sold in gift wrapping.

Katun pans are not afraid of metal mesh, as well as scratches from other sharp objects, they can be washed in dishwashers. Due to the fact that steel is characterized by low thermal conductivity, food in stainless steel pots cools longer. In addition, in such dishes, food retains freshness longer.

Katun pans are universal and suitable for both gas and electric stoves, including for glass-ceramic panels. Some collections are designed specifically for induction cookers. Pans with a relatively small volume for home use have G-tape glass lids (with a metal rim) with a steam hole through which it is convenient to observe the cooking process.

Utensils from the professional series are equipped with metal lids and screwed handles.

disadvantages

For all its advantages, stainless steel cookware is not without drawbacks, and the Katun brand cookware is no exception. This metal does not like sudden changes in temperature. Therefore, before washing the pan, it is necessary to allow it to cool to avoid rainbow stains, which spoil the appearance of the dishes. Some of the models have insufficient bottom thickness, so they are not suitable for cooking dishes that require a long heat treatment: food begins to burn and loses its taste. Not all utensils have sufficiently reliable handles.

In some cases, they are welded, although handles with rivets are considered more durable.

Selection and operation tips

When choosing stainless steel pots It will not be superfluous to pay attention to some points.

  • The thickness of the bottom and walls: it should be at least 0.5 cm.
  • Type of food. Different types of pots are suitable for different dishes. For example, for boiling milk, it is better to choose a ladle with a double bottom to prevent burning, and for cooking steamed it is convenient to use a mantle.
  • Type of plate. Not all cookware ranges of this brand are suitable for induction cookers. You can check this with a magnet: if it is attracted to the bottom of the dishes, then you can safely choose it.
  • Pan size. For home use, standard volumes are suitable, and for public institutions, professional cooks have created special series with an increased volume.
