The owner of even the most beautiful straight hair at some point may get tired of her usual look and want to look curly at herself. Although there are various ways to do this, perm "large curls" remains one of the most popular.

What it is?

Perm, “big curls”, as you might guess, is called that way, because as a result of the hair lies beautiful waves of a rather large size. The essence of the procedure is that aggressive substances first destroy the chemical bonds of hair keratin - the flakes open and lose their elasticity. Then, thanks to the retainer and curlers, curls are formed, and the connection inside the hair is restored. The time of the chemistry depends on factors such as the desired appearance, the type of curl, as well as the condition of the hairline. Curled hair is not allowed to blow dry, comb or style. In the first few days, shampooing is also not recommended.

A well-performed procedure and proper hair care will allow you to keep curls for several months.

Specialists identify several types of perm. Acid allows you to get a long-lasting and excellent looking result. However, the hair will suffer quite a lot and after the procedure will be drained. You can try to solve the problem by abundant and regular use of hair masks. Acid perm is recommended for owners of dense and rigid locks that will retain their shape and not stretch in the basal zone.

Alkaline curling has a relatively low cost and a more gentle effect on the hair. The effect of the procedure will last only 3 months, but the curls will suffer minimally and will look as natural as possible. Alkaline curling is recommended for thin, light locks, but it will not last more than 30 days on straight and hard ones.

A wave called neutral is suitable for any hair, even weak and damaged. This happens due to the allantoin present in the composition. The waves look soft and natural, do not disappear until the end of the fourth month.

Amino acid perm also refers to gentle, as it contains proteins that do not traumatic curls. This variety is suitable for thin, light locks, the length of which varies from short to medium. The duration of such a curl is limited to 30 days.

Silk wave, as a rule, is done either on medium or long hair. It also contains proteins, but already silk, which are responsible for softening the curls and restoring the altered structure. Withstands silk waving for about two months.

Finally there is Japanese wave, which is often carried out in parallel with dyeing or highlighting. The composition of the solution used contains a special lipid-protein complex, which is responsible for strengthening the hair. In this case, the curls last from three to five months.

In general, any curling is not recommended for rare hair, as well as short locks - in fact, in this case, instead of curls, there will only be a fluffy effect.

An important point: from the moment of dyeing the hair to the perm, 14 days should pass, with the exception of the Japanese method.

Advantages and disadvantages

Perm "large curls" is long-term, which is one of its main advantages. The shape of the curls does not fall apart even in the rain and snow. It is better to use this technique for women with oily hair, since during the procedure, excess fat will be eliminated. Recommended "large curls" and the owners of thin hairs, which, as a result, become more voluminous and magnificent. Perm does not need to be additionally stacked, which means that you spend time and money on fixing means.

The disadvantages of chemistry include thinning and drying of hair after curling, the possibility of allergies or even a burn. Some girls also note the unnecessary lightening of the locks.

It is important to highlight the contraindications of this procedure:

  • Perm is not recommended for women in position, as well as those in lactation;
  • identified allergic reactions to chemical constituents serve as an obstacle.

What curlers are needed?

Curlers or bobbins used for perm, should have a large diameter. The simplest solution is to purchase plastic papillots, for example, boomerangs or conical ones. Adding special wave-shaped plates to the bobbins, it will be possible to begin the implementation of retro-style hairstyles.

Preparation for the procedure

Before waving, you should definitely check the manifestation of an allergic reaction to the drug used. To do this, it is enough to apply the solution to the bend of the elbow, wrist or area behind the ear and see what happens in the next quarter hour. The absence of itching, rashes or redness indicates that its use is safe. The head should be washed, but only with shampoo, which has natural oils in its composition. This will be done with maximum care, without any massage or rubbing of the scalp. The fact is that such actions can lead to microtrauma or other injuries and, as a result, to unpleasant sensations during the use of chemicals.

If necessary, shorten the hair beforehand. The finer the hair itself, the shorter its required length. The same applies to thick long strands - it will be extremely difficult to curl them.

Execution technology

As already mentioned above, it is recommended to perform the curl "large curls" only on long or medium hair, and with short - it is still better to abstain. Although if you have a great desire, you can try. To do this at home, you will need a special chemical compound “Lockon”, as well as large whooping cough and a fixer that goes with it. In addition, basic tools will come in handy: a container made of glass or plastic, a brush and a comb, towels, protective gloves, vinegar and cream. The latter is useful in order to protect the skin of the ears and at the junction of hair and frontal zone.

It is better to immediately fix the bang with a hairpin, since if you want to curl it, you will have to use a lower concentration product and a different size bobbin. The entire hair mass is divided into the front and a pair of side sections. The strands are wound onto bobbins so that the width of the first does not exceed the width of the second. The curling method is selected depending on the length of the hair.

If it is short, then first the hair is processed with a special mixture, and then wound. The average length implies the reverse order: first wind, then moisten. Finally, long locks are processed in a mixed way. The ends are wetted, then twisted, and after the mixture all whooping coughs are covered.

The treated head is wrapped in polyethylene or hidden under a hat of the same material, and warmed with a towel over it. Then you have to withstand from a third of an hour to 40 minutes, depending on the condition of the hair. After about half this time, you can deploy one or two whooping coughs and see what happened. Once the curls have reached the necessary degree of curl, it is time to rinse the hair along with whooping cough. After drying, a fixer is applied with a towel.

After five minutes, the bobbin can be removed, and the hair again apply fixer for another five minutes. After this, the head will again be washed, using warm water, in which a little vinegar is diluted.

After wetting the strands with a towel, they should be allowed to dry naturally.

Care

So that the curls do not disappear after a couple of days, and the romantic hairstyle continues to delight its owner, it is necessary to adhere to several rules for the care of chemically curled hair. Weakened hair, which has become overdried and easily broken, should be treated with agents with other compositions. You will need to purchase shampoos, masks and balms containing collagen, panthenol and silk proteins. The ends of the hair will have to be trimmed in a timely manner and regularly treated with serums that prevent the cross-section. In the first days after curling, washing your hair is generally not allowed.

Further, the procedure should be carried out using solutions with a gentle composition and must end with a natural rinse, for example, with a solution of chamomile or nettle. Drying the curls should ideally be natural, only by slightly dabbing the moisture with a soft towel. If a hairdryer is not possible, it is recommended that you select cold air and combine it with a diffuser. Going to bed with an unclean head is strongly discouraged.

Large curls are combed by a comb with rare teeth, which is able to immediately form a beautiful curl. A massage brush in this situation will only hurt by ugly fluffing the locks. At least once a week, you will have to make a recovery mask based on honey or aloe vera juice. In addition, it would be nice to use natural oils - for example, burdock, peach or almond.

Curls should be protected from direct sunlight, coarse metal accessories or the same combs. If possible, avoid tight weaving and tails, and leave your hair loose.
