Husky is a unique breed. Their peculiarity is that they, in addition to their very beautiful soft wool and kind character, also have a unique “highlight” - bright beautiful eyes. They are truly mesmerizing and very attractive.

Today you will learn about what kind of eyes have a husky color, why they are so bright and how this color can change over time.

Dog breed and its history

Husky was tamed by man for a long time, for the first time they appeared in the cold lands of Siberia. There, people wanted to not only find a pet for the soul, but also a partner for work. First of all, these dogs performed a transport function: to carry some kind of cargo or even a sled with the person himself. With increasing popularity, they became more common and were accustomed to other occupations.

Among the inalienable “work” for a husky today, one can single out long-distance walks, transportation, fishing, speed races. Once, the Husky saved the lives of people. Outbreaks of diphtheria occurred in the city of Nome, Alaska, and there was no transport to deliver the vaccine due to weather conditions. A whole detachment of dogs of this breed, led by Balto, helped. Thanks to them, it became possible to deliver the vaccine and save the city from the disease. Films and cartoons were even made about this case.

Eye color

As already mentioned, in addition to loyalty, cheerful disposition, endurance, a very fluffy and soft wool coat, a large beautiful tail that looks more like a huge feather, the eyes are the “wealth” of a husky. They have a huge color variety, and each dog is remembered primarily due to its wonderful eyes.

There are many different color options. In addition, it has a very interesting feature - they change with age.

Blue

By standard, and most often found in blue. It just so happened that it is likely to meet a representative of the breed with blue eyes. And blue is not the most accurate description of this color. A person can have similar eyes, they are of a gentle shade that resembles the color of the sky. Husky has a very deep and rich blue color. Such eyes with their hue are more reminiscent of the Cote d'Azur than the sky in warm weather.

The color is really memorable and amazing, it is unlike anything else and stands out clearly against the background of the exterior of the animal.

Brown

This type of breed is also not very rare and is definitely considered a variety of the suit color of the dog. Moreover, it is not necessary that the eyes are only one shade.

There are a huge number of various options when the eyes are brown, but some elements or even the circles of the iris will be brown.

Husky can also be found exclusively with brown eyes. This shade is darker and deeper than the lighter brown.

In addition, in this color palette you can see representatives with a bright amber color or even something more reminiscent of honey from forest bees. Any of these colors has the right to be considered normal, in no way inferior to the other, and certainly will not become a reason for not admitting to any competition.

Brown-eyed you can not meet as often as blue-eyed, but they are also characteristic of the breed and have always been considered a sign of healthy development of the animal.

Black

This color can not be found as often as the first two, but it is also in no way inferior to any standard of a normal color. If the dog has a very dark color of the iris, which reaches very black, then there is a lot of pigment in its body. If there is a large amount of pigmentation in the animal’s body, its hair, eyes and even the epithelium will also be more saturated. Accordingly, the entire coat of the black-eyed husky will be much darker than that of the brothers.

Often this situation arises: the eyes are so dark that they look more like black, and the coat is very saturated in color, but white streaks are found among the many black hairs. It looks quite interesting when on a completely dark spot you suddenly see light or even white hairs.

Such bright elements of the cover can be not only in the form of small dots or spots, but also stripes all over the body. On these creatures, mother nature did not save her imagination!

Green

This is a question that requires more detailed consideration. Indeed, greenish shades of the eyes can be found in husky and are variants of the norm. But all these ebbs are not the result of landscaping the iris. The color, which may resemble green in the norm of the suit, is registered as olive, and it comes from amber, which, in turn, is closer to brown eyes.

An animal with eyes the color of leaves of needles or the first spring grass can be found very rarely. It is so rare that such green-eyed dogs are the exception rather than the commonplace. Respectively, a bright green color to meet with a husky is practically not possible.

Gray

These wonderful representatives can also be found, albeit a little less often than the rest. A dog with light gray eyes, as a rule, has a lighter coat color, which only occasionally gets dark spots.

Most of their cover is represented by white color, as a rule, this is the lower part of the body, including the muzzle and paws. On top of the husky can be a dark color, but not saturated dark, but closer to the slate, as if being a dark version of gray.

Eyes can also be of varying degrees of saturation: from deep dark to almost white. They are truly mesmerizing; they want to look at them for a long time, enjoying the originality and attractiveness.

Multi-colored

The heterochromia of the husky eyes is of particular interest to others. This is quite rare, and even for breed lovers this can be a curiosity.

In a real individual of the fluffy breed of Siberia, this is a common phenomenon and most often is a hereditary factor: one of the parents also had a different color. It can also occur as a result of crossing parents with eyes of different colors.

Of course, due to the spread of the husky and the advancement of scientific progress, today it is already possible to meet such a “harlequin” (as they are called) even in the city of a passerby. It looks really interesting, because each of the eye colors individually is very rich and difficult. Especially unusual are the completely different eyes of the dog: one is blue, the other is amber, for example.

This, too, is a normal development of the iris and does not knock out of the canon by many beloved breeds.

Age changes

As you can see, it’s quite rare to find a dog that really doesn’t meet husky standards. The eyes of many variations and shades are considered to be completely normal. Moreover, they may change with age.

Purebred huskies are not only the owners of a rather bright iris, they are also subject to changes throughout their lives. Thus, a puppy is most often born with a blue tint, or, as we have already figured out, azure. Later, as the individual matures, the eyes acquire completely different tones, sometimes even completely different from the original ones. You should not worry about this, except in individual cases:

  • if the dog initially did not have a heterochromia gene, and suddenly her eyes become different - there may be a violation of health due to the use of some drugs;
  • it happens that a mature husky of a mature age also begins a sharp change in the color of the iris, which means that there are some serious changes in the body, and it is better to be safe too, going to a specialist.

Special dog

In this breed especially everything. The deceptive appearance makes the dog a little afraid because of its resemblance to a wolf, but a very kind heart surprises, and the character is respected.

Husky is amazing both in soul and in appearance. This creature is a well-deserved favorite of many people, and their diversity will impress even the most bored person.

A reliable companion, a beautiful and amazing animal and an excellent assistant in matters relating to physical strength - this is who this dog is by nature.
