The first peignoirs appeared in Venice almost 500 years ago. The then fashionistas wore it, barely waking up, to comfortably apply makeup. Since then, from a heavy robe, the peignoir has turned into an elegant and delicate element of the morning and evening look of a modern lady.

Traditionally, silk was used for sewing peignoirs. Depending on the model, chiffon or satin, crepe de chine or crepe georgette also came into play. Modern couturiers do not go in cycles in this noble material and actively experiment with lace, cotton, nylon, cambric, viscose, marquise, velor and other types of knitwear.

One way or another, when buying a peignoir, you should not pay particular attention to its practicality - nevertheless, this kind of thing is more likely to be decorative, designed to emphasize the merits of the figure of its wearer and gently camouflage its flaws.
