If you are planning a vacation and are looking for a place of seclusion without any frills, but so that there is a clear sea and good beaches, few people and no noise, you should pay attention to the Crimean village of Storm.

Description and History

This beach holiday destination is located on the western coast of the Crimean peninsula, on the map it is 4516′00 ′ ′ s. w. and 3305′10 ′ ′ in. The village is located directly on the coastline, which makes it attractive. At the same time, the district center - the city of Saki, is 48 km along the highway, but it is much further than the city of Yevpatoriya (26 km), where the main attractions of the west coast and the railway station are located. A distinctive feature of this area are the steppes.

There are no mountains and forests, with a lot of water: Storm stands on the Black Sea coast, from the north it delimits it with its closest neighbor, the village of Popovka, Lake Oybur, and from the south it separates Adzhibaychik lake from the Veteran SNT.

Until 1977, this village was called Frunzevka, and even earlier - Voznesenovka, which began its history with the Russian settlement in 1901. But back in 1784 a small Crimean Tatar village was born here, which later became empty.

Today, Storm is a young, quiet resort with a population of about 1300 inhabitants, in which there are only 30 streets. The infrastructure here is quite well developed for a very small village: regular bus service with the nearest settlements and Yevpatoria is established, there is a polyclinic, dentistry, a school, markets, shops, and pharmacies. That’s what’s missing is ATMs. Only cash is used here. The nearest ATM is in Yevpatoriya. In addition to a quiet measured rest on a clean beach and the sea, Storm attracts lovers of balneotherapy.

Oybur Lake is famous for its blue clay, so many go to its coast and take mud baths for free. But be careful - this procedure has contraindications.

Speaking about the climate of this place, it is worth recalling that this the steppe zone is a place where winds are walking, there is little rainfall and there are no saving thickets of trees where you can hide in the shade. Due to the smooth deepening of the sea, the water warms up faster, and already in the second half of May the first bathers appear among the guests of the resort, and by the beginning of June the swimming season is gaining momentum. In September, the heat drops and the air and sea are still very warm.

Despite the fact that the village is called Storm, vacationers rarely encounter storms that bring seaweed and marine litter on the coast. Basically, the sea is very clean, calm. The dirtiest is the beach closer to Popovka, in the Storm itself the beaches are clean and well-groomed.

This place was chosen by divers. Even two kilometers from the coast, the depth of the sea is no more than 20 m, and the water is very clear with excellent visibility. Fans of scuba diving claim that the remains of the settlement have been preserved in this place under water. But there is no confirmation of this information, but the Soviet Volga Don transport ship is indeed there. In the second half of World War II, the ship was captured by the Germans and sent to Sevastopol. But along the way, to prevent the ship from reaching the enemy, the Soviet submarine fired a torpedo and sank the Volga Don.

In the same area, a Soviet submarine in 1943 sank the Bulgarian vessel Varna, which transported ammunition. Therefore, diving centers are very popular in Storm and generally on the western coast of Crimea.

How to get there

If the resorts are not crowded, then they are far from the slopes. And this complicates the routes of tourists. However, there are the following ways to get to Storm.

  • A trip in a private car will greatly facilitate the life of vacationers, as you want to go to Yevpatoriya, Sevastopol, to the South Coast (southern coast of Crimea), where a completely different climate and a large number of attractions are concentrated.
  • There are two flights from the Kurortnaya bus station, which is opposite the Simferopol train station, to the Shtormovoe bus station: at 12.00 and at 18.25 (travel time 2.5 hours). Please note that you need to look for flights to the bus station, and not before the turn.
  • There are 6 scheduled flights from Evpatoria to the Storm bus station. There are no problems getting to Yevpatoria from Kerch or Simferopol: this can be done either by bus or by train (by train).
  • You can risk taking the bus to Popovka (or Mirny), but there are some nuances: either walk from the turn to Shtormovoye, or go back from Popovka. Neither option is far from brilliant if you are with things and children. But you can be provided with a transfer from those points if you worry about this in advance.
  • From the airport of Simferopol, excellent communication with all the major resort cities, which includes Evpatoria, is established.
  • You can order a transfer directly from Simferopol, although it will cost a lot (from about 2 thousand per car).
  • In Crimea, a car rental system has been developed, and it will be much cheaper than a taxi. But study carefully the question of choosing a company.

Many are afraid of the way to get not specifically to Storm, Yevpatoria, Yalta, Alushta, but to Crimea as such. Even if you are very financially constrained, choose the return trip from Simferopol by plane (unless, of course, you are without a personal car).

You can arrive in Crimea on a single ticket: by train to Anapa or Krasnodar, where you will be transferred to buses in an organized manner and taken to the city you ordered (including Yevpatoriya).

But the return journey with a constant sense of anxiety to miss the train, travel in hot and stuffy cars for several days is a poor end to the vacation.

Where to stay?

There are no problems with accommodation at this resort at all. You can find accommodation in advance through the preliminary reservation system, as well as upon arrival on vacation. The private sector offers its services in the form of guest houses, estates, apartments, apartments; mini-hotels, hotels, pensions, recreation center.

Good reviews leave vacationers about the comfortable hotel "Emerald". It is very attractive for families with children, because even baby food is provided here, as well as cribs and strollers. Adults “Emerald” is interesting not only because the hotel is comfortable, with food, but also the presence of Wi-Fi. There are only 29 rooms. There is a resting place on line 6.

But Hotel DelMar standing right on the beach. Guests are attracted to housing by the sea. But the reviews about living here are very contradictory: someone writes about beautiful large rooms with balconies, other guests - about broken-down rooms and bathrooms. The same attitude to the kitchen: guests are inclined to think that it is better to buy rooms without meals. Although there is the only restaurant in Storm. But here is a beautiful beach.

For the discerning holidaymaker there are hotels with an outdoor pool: guest house "Yalta", boarding house "Pomorie". But boarding house "Poseidon" the pool is not needed, because it is located on the first line and vacationers hope for a calm warm sea.

And the hotel "South Breeze" 95% of the guests put 5 out of 5 points. In their opinion, there are wonderful hosts, excellent service, swimming pool, kitchen, entertainment for children and adults. 900 m to the sea. Do not confuse this vacation spot with a mini-hotel in the private sector "Easy Breeze". This economy-class accommodation is located on the main street near the station. There is also a lot of this type of housing here, and it is located throughout Stormovoi, for example, economy rooms on ul. Partizanskaya, 38.

Enjoys special love among guests boarding house "Captain Storm" - the rooms here are for every taste and budget, excellent cuisine and very friendly hosts. Also good reviews about the "Summer pension", guest house "On the Black Sea". Really like guests recreation center "Storm", which is located on Embankment, 3. And still worth paying attention on SNT "Veteran"that is located beyond Adzhibaychik lake. Parents with children really like it, since the territory is fenced and children are always under the supervision of a guard. But this gardening partnership is located just south of Storm.

Thus, in this resort place you can find places for rest from luxury (for example, at the Skazka Hotel, on Pribrezhnaya 10) to a separate economy room with amenities in the courtyard.

The best beaches

The western coast of Crimea is famous for its sandy beaches. But if in the same Yevpatoriya there is a huge influx of tourists, a turbulent sea, constant noise and children's voices (Yevpatoriya is a children's health resort), then in Storm you are expected 3.5 km of beaches along the village and many kilometers north and south of Stormovoi. The entrance to the sea is very gentle - to a depth of about 100 meters.

If the sea is calm, then the water is unusually clear. After the storms, the situation changes slightly. But in the second half of summer, like on the entire Crimean coast, there are a huge number of jellyfish. They do not cause physical disturbance, children like to play with them, there are simply a lot of them.

In the village itself there are 3 beaches: at the DelMar hotel, municipal and at the Shtormovoye recreation center. The first beach is considered the noisiest: there is always music, entertainment. By the beginning of the season, umbrellas and showers, sunbeds and toilets are installed. Every 150-200 m there are organizers of attractions (catamarans, bananas and so on), cafes, ice creams, souvenir tents. Yes, there are not always enough sun loungers on the municipal beach, and glass comes across in the sand. But you always want to ask: who threw him there?

Recently, several beaches appeared on the municipal territory: Vega, Crab, and Rainbow. According to those who have already had time to rest there, the “Crab” is the most convenient, including for the disabled. And recently there was information that an open-air cinema was installed on the beach.

A favorite pastime for vacationers is the promenade along the promenade. But we must remember that this is a village 3.5 km long, and not the 15-kilometer Gelendzhik embankment. It is, but it’s just a street with that name, which runs along the sea, without special decorations.

On the outskirts of the village there are several more interesting places for sunbathing and relaxing. Guests also appreciate lake beaches. Oybur Lake is separated from the sea by a sand strip. At the same time, the water in the sea here is much cooler than on the beaches of Storm. But in a lake with a depth of 1 meter, it warms up very quickly. Sitting in the warm water, people smear themselves with blue clay and wait until it dries on an un-equipped beach. Rinse off dirt and salt run into the sea, because it is right there. The length of this beach is 700 meters. Little children are expanse here - wallow in the mud and nobody will scold you.

Between Storm and Oybur Lake there is a very small lake Aji. But here, too, people come to rest and wallow already in black mud with completely different properties.

Walk north from the balneological lake 5 km, and you will find yourself in Popovka, famous for the Kazantip festival held there for a long time. Many people like the beach of the same name more than the beaches in Storm. True, recently, construction of hangars for shrimp production has begun between these settlements. Locals express dissatisfaction with this fact because of the desire to preserve gorgeous beaches.

But this is not all: Before Popovka, as well as down from Storm towards Vitino there are wild beaches. Here, those who rested in the Soviet era as “savages”, that is, unorganized tourists, rest in tents. Also these places are famous for their nudist beaches. Neither one nor the other does not bother anyone, because there is plenty of space on the equipped beaches. Getting on the beach of the same Yevpatoriya, you will be faced with the same problem: no matter how not to step on anyone, how to take a sunbed. In Storm, these problems, fortunately, do not exist yet.

Recreation and entertainment

In the reviews about the rest in Storm necessarily come across "boring things, no parties, nowhere to go." Probably, vacationers got to know a little about the place of rest before the trip. Storm is a place for a quiet family vacation, where children play in safety on a clean sea sand or on water attractions. The older generation can use a trampoline or shooting gallery, bicycles.

For children, a visit will also be interesting. Museum "Marine Curiosities", where you can get acquainted with unusual objects that the sea threw. And it can be shells, and stones, turned for hundreds and thousands of years by sea water and sand. Nature turned them into sea monsters. But it is even more interesting to consider man-made objects lying on the bottom of the marine decade. Young people and older people will find a place of rest, disco bars on the embankment and the shore. Here you can dine and dance with a view of the oncoming sea wave.

I wanted to diversify my life without leaving - you can go to Popovka, where Kazantip once passed and the buildings remained from it. And beyond it is the deepest Crimea lake Donuzlav. Somewhere there kitesurfers took their place. Steppe winds and ideal depth for training helped create kite school in Donuzlav. But fishing lovers here expanse. In the sea itself they fish directly from the shore.

There is no information about organized fishing in the sea, but there are stories of tourists about fishing on Lake Oybur. Here, fishermen catch a bull, mullet, horse mackerel and red mullet with them.

Choosing once a year on vacation, we want to get to know new places to the maximum. No problem - in Storm there are several companies for organizing excursions throughout the Crimea. Or you can drive to Evpatoria. Children will be pleased with the Dinopark and the Pirates of the Black Sea Museum, an aquarium and a stunning dolphinarium, and the Banana Republic water park near the city. By the way, a free bus runs from Storm there.

Where to eat in Storm?

Most of all, tourists praise inexpensive, but very diverse and delicious food in the "Canteen No 1". At prices, it is quite suitable for daily visits. Popularly cozy home cafe "On the suitcases" - here is healthy food for adults and tasty for children.

You can have a tasty and inexpensive lunch in the cafe "Sesame", "Anastasia". Sit with a glass of Crimean wine - in a restaurant near the central beach with the familiar name “Leningrad”. And youth expects fun at Mambabar. If you are a lover of snacks, then pizza, hamburgers, vegetable salads, strong coffee or tea with dessert are waiting for you in the cafe "Summer".

Yes, compared with the southern coast of Crimea, the western one is completely different: measured, unhurried, not so noisy, sedate and steppe. But this is his charm.

In the next video, you can take a look at Storm from a bird's eye view.
