All about the beaches of Alupka
Alupka is a resort that is located in the shadow of the more famous Yalta, Feodosiya, Yevpatoriya. But among other attractive objects in the Crimea, she stands out, if you look closely. Local beaches are good too, it's time to get to know them better.
general information
In Alupka, the entire coast is closely pressed to the mountains. Therefore, to get to the beaches you have to go down the slopes. Some of them are so steep that you can not do without stairs to complement the usual trails. The coast itself is also difficult to call an even space. The relief is very pronounced, beach areas are covered with pebbles of various fractions.
There are many stones on the seabed. But on the other hand, the water itself is very transparent, which is why underwater hunters and diving fans love to go to Alupka. Contrary to popular belief, all this does not so much interfere with relaxing on the banks of Alupka with children. Important: you can’t count on the beaches equipped according to the elite class. However, the typical infrastructure is quite there, and some of its weakness is compensated by gorgeous views.
Nearby are such beauties as Mount Ai-Petri and the Vorontsov Palace, crowned with characteristic battlements. Rest in Alupka is quite cheap, and it is conveniently located. You can easily get to any of the neighboring resorts. The beaches themselves in this area are available at no extra charge.
And this is not enough - everyone is allowed into some leisure areas at sanatoriums. They only require to behave themselves and pay a fee for sun loungers. Finding free places is much easier than in Yalta. A similar difference persists even at the peak of the season. The reason for the low occupancy of Alupka is simple: there are no such lush and advanced entertainments as in other Crimean resorts.
Varieties
Alupka's beaches can be classified into public, wild and private.
Public
An overview of the beaches in a Crimean city such as Alupka is worth starting with a children's site. He was placed in a modest-sized lagoon. This miniature bay is completely sheltered from piercing winds and sea waves. The water in the lagoon is invariably warmer than in the open sea. Near the coast and even at a fairly large distance from it is shallow.
You can go down to the sea on the children's beach of Alupka without any risk. Even the smallest children calmly walk along this path. Along the perimeter, the beach strip is surrounded by rocks. They, separating part of the water from the sea, form lagoons populated by a large number of flora and fauna. Both crabs and fish live there.
Those floating on open sea water can enjoy the view of Ai-Petri directly from it. Rising from the beach inland, you can visit the shady park. There are icy waterfalls, stone chaos, and places with excellent visibility. The problem is that in 2019 a layer of gravel was poured on the children's beach, which has not yet been run-in. But calm adds a permanent rescue post.
The next section of the coast, which you must definitely get acquainted with, is the so-called Vorontsov baths. They are located on the Vorontsov highway about 1.29 km from the central part of Alupka. This city beach is accessible to visitors at no extra charge. If the road along the Vorontsov highway does not suit tourists, they can head along the Primorsky lane directly from the city center. The entire coast at this place is covered by medium-sized pebbles.
The total area of the "baths" is small, they themselves are narrow and short. From urban development, the beach is separated by a strong concrete wall. Exactly in the middle of it are breakwaters. Along the edges of them are gorgeous looking boulders, where it is good to dive, especially for children. The danger is that at the bottom there are a lot of large stones, and therefore every jump into the water is very risky.
It’s much more comfortable and safer to use a public beach like "Frog". This is a fairly large leisure area, because everyone can stay here. The name of the beach was due to the exceptional size of the stone. The atypical cliff reaches 10 m in height. Otherwise, it is impossible to say anything special about the beach.
Wild and nudist
This group falls into Cote d'Azur beach more precisely, its western section. There is a cluster of large stones, which just attracts nudists. The distance to the city center (if you look along the edge of the beach) is a little less than 300 m. This section of the coast is occupied by a juniper grove declared a local reserve. A guide for its search by tourists can serve as the bus station Alupka.
The Cote d'Azur has 3 sections, the boundaries between which are piers. One sector of the beach is covered with sand, and the other two are pebbles of the middle fraction.
An example of a wild beach in Alupka can be called "Three stones." There you can relax on a pebble and enjoy an unforgettable experience. Infrastructure is reduced only to a modest cafe, otherwise the “wild” atmosphere is maintained impeccably.
An example of a wild beach itself is "Dusya". This strip of coast borders on the beach of the South Coast sanatorium, therefore it is not difficult to get to it. Among locals and vacationers, it has alternative names - Kuchmovsky beach or the beach of the monk Bertold Schwartz. Descent from the embankment to this part of the coast is possible by a high staircase made of concrete. When walking along the coast, hills and ledges of rocks are found.
"Dusya" stretched a long distance and is mostly covered with stones. Occasionally there are places covered with large pebbles. There are not many people, but you can easily find shallow bays.At the bottom of such bays are round stones that are completely safe. But since the beach is not fully equipped, you will have to stock up on water, umbrellas and food.
Private
Among the beaches owned by private organizations, a beach near the South Coast sanatorium deserves attention. The guests of the sanatorium, leaving the main building, can slowly reach the sea in just 10 minutes.
It has a well-deserved fame Black Bugor beach. It occupies an attractively looking bay on the land of the former sanatorium "Rainbow". Important: the alternative name of the beach is "Cape Verde", do not think that these are different places.
On the "Black hill" along the surf strip is a sandy edge. The beach appeared as a result of natural processes. Therefore, when the sea is worried, the width of the land decreases. There is also a rock, which is also called "Black Hill". From its top, you can view the entire Alupka, observing the territory up to and including Cape Ai-Todor.
To the "Black hill" you want to drive in cars, as the entrances are taken care of in advance.
Another private area is at the Bobrov sanatorium. It occupies the most western share of Alupka. Despite the positioning of the sanatorium as a family institution, children often come here to rest here. The beach has both comfortable and exceptionally wild fragments, covered with rocks and individual stones.
When the swimming season begins, pavilions with drinks and simple products appear on the "Black Mound". It’s easy to rent catamarans. People who constantly call for the use of water rides are constantly walking. Free Wi-Fi is available for visitors to nearby cafes.
Do not drive directly onto the "Black hill"; he will have to be left on a city street nearby, and then walk down graceful platforms.
Every year, visitors to Alupka try to use the wild parts of Bobrov beach. It is quiet and secluded. The equipped space is divided into breakwaters. There are no special amenities here - the administration has prepared only:
- chaise lounges (leased for 100 rubles);
- gentle slope from the embankment, covered with concrete and equipped with durable handrails;
- steel stairs.
The embankment itself will provide tourists with other amenities. There are put toilets, and changing rooms, and kiosks with fast food, souvenirs, soft drinks.
The next private beach belongs to the budget hotel "Beach". But those who want to get the maximum improvement should choose the "Spanish Village".
The beaches of the boathouses are not very attractive. Spending time without a sun lounger is very difficult because hard, heated asphalt is very uncomfortable. Therefore, one should be interested in reviews about the properties of each site. Some of them are covered with soft coverings, equipped with umbrellas, sun loungers. In some places, directly from the beaches at the boathouses, stairs descend into the sea.
The advantage of this choice is the ability to park a car nearby. But near the boathouses there is no infrastructure, even locker rooms and toilets. There are no attractions here, you can only enjoy the exceptionally clear sea. Concrete quality is not always good everywhere, and buildings of various kinds, abandoned coastal facilities spoil the view.
The beach at the boathouses is also bad because there the sea bottom is covered with stones. Some of them have sharp edges, and sites with dense clusters of algae are found everywhere. To slip on such lumps is very simple. Entry into the water without beach protective shoes is unacceptable. The general conclusion is this: stopping at the boathouses is possible, but only as a last resort.
Much better equipped beach belonging to the sanatorium "Mountain Sun". Then prepared as a rest area. Small pebbles predominate, on which you can lie under awnings. Sun beds and umbrellas are available for rent.Until recently, anyone could go here, but at any moment the situation may change.
The best beaches
In addition to general descriptions, it is useful to pay attention to the best stretches of the sea coast in Alupka. And among them invariably appears the main city beach. Its undoubted advantage is that you don’t have to search for such a site on the map. It is located near the Alupkinskoye highway in the eastern part of the city. Despite its small size, this beach is in great demand.
A lot of people also rush to the territory called “The Frog”. Even individual photographs of this beach in season allow you to estimate the number of vacationers. The bulk of vacationers here are adults.
Since the sea is dominated not by sand, but by boulders, the water is quite clean, which makes amateur divers happy.
The "Green Cape" is good already because when it was created, the territory was 100% leveled. It is impossible to find more even places on the coast in Alupka. The coast is covered mainly with sand, diluted with a little fine pebbles. Cape Verde is recommended for family leisure. Without a doubt, you can let the children swim in the sea.
"Cote d'Azur" is included in the list of the best because of the unusually clean and high-quality water. You can view the bottom without any difficulty. In some places in the water are stones that attract marine animals. Despite the proximity of a number of hotel complexes, there are not many people here. Because "Cote d'Azur" is recommended for those who want to enjoy a calm and balanced leisure in a well-equipped place.
Reviews
In addition to general descriptions, you should familiarize yourself with the ratings that former vacationers give the beaches of Alupka. Accustomed to the spacious, stretching for many kilometers of shores of advanced resorts here it is difficult to avoid at first disappointment. Immediately pay attention that even the best beaches in Alupka are very small and not too well equipped by world standards. However, the quality of water outweighs this drawback, if only tourists are patient and do not leave immediately.
Importantly, the Yalta residents (and they already know a lot about coastal vacations) often travel to Alupka.
Another important evidence in favor of this resort is that for several centuries, it was he who has been preferred by many influential people and political leaders. There are statements by residents of Odessa that the sea in their city is much worse. As for Alupka’s accusations of “boredom,” you just need to know her features and not put forward high expectations. Beach leisure here will delight those who value the sea, wildlife and romance. But lovers of combining visits to the sea with club entertainment should choose other resorts.
