On the territory of Crimea there are many secluded corners where tourism is still poorly developed, but that’s also charming, since there is no large influx of people, and the beaches remain clean. One of these places is Olenevka, located from the west.

Description

The westernmost point of Crimea is Cape Tarkhankut, not far from it at a distance of 5 kilometers is a small village Olenevka. The local landscape is notable for white cliffs and crystal clear water and air. From this side of the peninsula, nature has remained pristine, since it is least affected by man.

The outskirts of the village are not only a place with amazing nature, but also a great solution for relaxing people who want to spend it in silence and solitude. The area is ecologically clean due to the lack of major highways and industrial enterprises nearby.

Most often this corner is chosen for relaxation by divers, surfers, those who like to enjoy camping and spend the night in tents. Local authorities also could not fail to note the advantages of the local climate and the nature, therefore Olenevka was chosen in 2016 as the venue for the festival, which was called the Crimea-Extreme.

Indeed, this is a unique place for diving, as the water is crystal clear and the underwater world of the peninsula is clearly visible.

Sandy beaches here do not differ in beauty from the Maldives, on the shore lies amazing white sand. From the village to the coast, the road takes no more than 10 minutes, which is very convenient. The rocky coast stretches 10 kilometers to the southeast. These places are known as the Big and Small Atlesh.

Appearance story

After conducting archaeological excavations, little more became known about Olenevka and its environs. According to scientists, the first settlement appeared here back in ancient times. It was a Greek town of Chersonese choir.

The total area of the settlement, dated to the VI century, was 3.2 hectares. According to the evidence found, the town was well fortified, and its population in the 1st century AD already changed to Scythian.

The first mention of the village can be found in the cameral description of the Crimea. The document is dated 1784. The village after Crimea joined Russia, became part of the Evpatoria district, but this happened later.

Pavlovsky reforms took place from 1796 to 1802, during this period the settlement passed into the Akmechet district and became part of the Novorossiysk province. After there were several more shifts in administrative division.

According to available historical data, all local residents were forced to leave for Turkey, where they settled after. This was the first wave of emigration provoked by General Popov. After buying a decent share of the local land, he brought here the Nogais. By 1806, there were 43 courtyards, 268 residents lived in them.

In 1800, another village was formed in the neighborhood - Stepanovka, slightly larger in size. 382 people lived on its territory, but this is the only document where there is a mention of the settlement, since in the subsequent period the area was marked as empty on all maps. Only in 1820 Popov began to relocate his peasants to an already ready place.

Affected the village and the reforms of Alexander II. During this period, a detailed census of local residents was carried out. By that time, two fish factories were built here and one orchard planted. On the map of Karadzha (formerly Olenevka) it was marked by a Russian settlement, on the territory of which a rescue station was organized in 1876. After 3 years, the school began work here, and in 1886 the first telegraph appeared. In 1887, the number of local residents increased to 536.

The next reform took place in 1890, then the settlement was ranked as Kunan volost, the number of inhabitants in the existing 110 yards was 826 people. In 1921, the volost was decided to abolish, as evidenced by the surviving resolution of the Krymrevkom. From that time, the Evpatoria district began to exist. The settlement of Karadzh was part of the Evpatoria region.

The modern name Olenevka received only in August 1945.

Where is it and how to get there?

The distance from Simferopol to Olenevka is 160 kilometers. On the map you can easily find the village, if you look at the western part of the peninsula.

You can get to Olenevka by various means of transport.

If you choose a plane, you will first have to fly to Simferopol, where a new terminal was opened not so long ago. From Moscow to destination, an average flight takes 3 hours. There are enough flights, so there are no problems with buying a ticket.

From the airport you can get from Simferopol to Olenevka both by public transport, and by taxi or even a rented car. If you choose a shuttle bus, you will have to make a transfer in Yevpatoriya, since there is no direct flight from the airport to Olenevka.

The bus to Evpatoria runs infrequently, you can just get to the bus station, where there are more options. For this, a trolleybus number 8, 9, 11 is suitable. If you nevertheless decide to wait for transport, then you need a bus number 49.

Without traffic jams, it offers a train station to Evpatoria. Here, trains from Simferopol go with greater frequency.

In the future, it is planned to open a railway bridge to the Crimea, but while it is being completed, now it will take a long train to get there if you move from the central part of Russia. The final point is Adler or Krasnodar, from there by bus to the Crimea, then by local transport to Olenevka.

You can take a taxi from the airport in Simferopol to the settlement, but it should be borne in mind that the cost of the trip is 25 rubles per kilometer.

In this case, you can think about going on vacation in your own car (or taking a rented car). Having reached Kerch by car, you will first need to cross the Crimean bridge, then go onto the E97 highway, which leads to Feodosia, then turn onto P22 to Simferopol, and then follow P25 to Evpatoria. After this, it is still necessary to drive a large section of the road along T0108, which will lead to the Black Sea, and only there you will need to get to Revolution Street, which will lead to the settlement.

Where to stay?

Not far from the sea there are small bungalows, but in order to save money, you will have to agree on the removal of housing directly with the owners, and not through intermediaries.

The cost per room or apartment will depend on:

  • from the level of comfort;
  • remoteness from the coastline;
  • season.

The most expensive rooms are in the summer, when there are many vacationers. Some owners are willing to lose a little if you plan to stay at the resort for several weeks. The cottage is in high season from 3.5 thousand rubles per day. In the private sector, an economy class number can also be found for 500 rubles, a place in a room - from 200 rubles.

If you want to freshen up during the day, you can use the outdoor pool. For those who are used to staying at work, they offer free 24-hour internet.

Olenevka can offer comfortable camping or just camping with tents. Every year, the number of people who want to spend their vacation this way only increases. A good place can be found on Cape Tarkhankut, which is located in Karadzhinsky Bay. There are several attractions nearby, in addition, getting to Yevpatoriya is not difficult.

To understand what camping in Olenevka is, it is worth diving into the topic in more detail. You can live in your own tent, or in a trailer or trailer. Such stationary houses can provide maximum comfort on vacation. The administration tried and equipped special areas for them, where a shower and toilet are provided.

Most of all in such a holiday is attracted by the freedom and proximity of the sea. There is no need to go to the beach, because parking is located directly on it. We were able to appreciate the charm of such a vacation and families with children, since the descent to the sea is shallow, sand lies everywhere, and a small depth remains for a very long time.

There are many diving and windsurfing enthusiasts here. Nearby is a grocery store where you can easily stock up on provisions.

The only minus of such a vacation is that there is no vegetation on the shore, so there is nowhere to hide without an umbrella. Around the campground, the steppe, from small hills offers stunning views.

    The best beaches

The coast on the outskirts of Olenevka is almost completely covered with sand, which is why this area is so popular. The beaches are clean, but the season does not last too long, because in the west of Crimea it gets cool already in September.

In summer, there are always many vacationers, but not all areas are available for swimming. For example, the area around the Tarhankut lighthouse is a restricted area where swimming is prohibited. As such, there is no beach here, but there are small areas where you can quite comfortably sit among large boulders. This is not the best place to relax with children, but divers will definitely like it, because the water remains crystal clear all the time.

It is in the vicinity of Olenevka that the so-called White Beach or Crimean Maldives is located. Getting on it from land is not so easy, you will need to use the simplest climbing skills. The easiest way to sail is by kayak or rubber inflatable boat. Near the lighthouse there is always the opportunity to rent a boat, then the owner will return for you to the beach when you need to.

White cliffs surround this colorful and secluded place. At the bottom of the sea and along the coast lies large white sand, which is similar to the one in the Maldives. However, not the entire coastline here is ideal for soaking up the sun, but since there are not many people, you can always find a place.

You can often see blue jellyfish in the water; some tourists even hunt for them. They also catch crabs.

There is another attractive place in the vicinity of the settlement - Ocheretay Bay with a flat coast. It is easy to find on the outskirts of Tarkankut Park. Locals say that once there was a camp where they brought up a squad of fur seals. Today, the place is very popular with tourists who are looking for privacy. On the territory there is a well with drinking water.

The sea in the bay is always calm, the entrance to the sea is gradual. But not everything is as perfect as we would like, since there is a gas pipeline, so the zone is closed to visitors. But this is only in theory, in practice there is an entrance from the dirt road, although it is not too convenient.

Rumor has it that shells from the times of the Great Patriotic War still remained at the bottom, but this is an unconfirmed fact, therefore they often come here with tents, since there is access to drinking water.

For those who value pristine nature and silence rather than convenience, you can offer Lazy Beach, which can be found closer to Atlesh. There are cliffs for climbers and a clean sea for everyone who just wants to enjoy the sea and sand.

The terrain is distinguished by the presence of large boulders, but the descent to the sea is gradual, convenient, there are areas where an air mattress is easily located. Near the descent there is a parking lot, you can drive by car along the road and leave it here until the evening.

It must be understood that the wilderness here is also characterized by the impressive depth of the sea. To relax on such a beach, you should be confident in your abilities. Depth increases rapidly, so it is not suitable for children.

Of all the beaches that Olenevka has to offer, the main one remains the most sought after. The locals called him Crimean Florida here, since in fact this place fits the definition of heaven on earth. The promenade goes right here, comfortable hotels and hotels are nearby.

This place is more affected than others by humans, therefore it is as much as possible cultivated. There are umbrellas and sunbeds, however, they will have to pay for them. For convenience, dressing cabins and showers were installed throughout the beach. Here you can have a snack without leaving the beach, enjoy wine and other drinks, taste smoked fish.

The coastline is 3 kilometers long, the width of the beach is 100 meters. The entrance to the sea is ideal for families with children. Precisely because there is a lot of space, there are equipped areas for beach volleyball.

Enjoy on vacation and those who are used to actively spend holidays. Tourists are offered various water attractions, kiting is popular among youth - water skiing with a parachute.

It is considered an ideal place for diving: crystal clear water, which becomes very warm in summer, variegated water plants and very rich fauna. The bays that today delight you with crystal clear water were once used by pirates and smugglers, because there are many hidden niches where you can hide something valuable.

Translated from the Crimean Tatar Atlesh means "fire." If we turn to history, it will become clear why this is what the local cliffs are called. The fact is that before the construction of lighthouses here, large fires were lit up, which sailors needed as a guide at night.

The territory is protected and consists of two natural monuments located one kilometer from each other. At Bolshoi Atlesh, the main attraction is considered an arch 40 meters high, which adorns the entrance to a small bay. The arch is a through grotto, which was formed over time due to sea waves and weathering of rock. During the season, many sightseeing boats moor here, which bring diving enthusiasts.

Small Atlesh also has something to see. Under the influence of the waves, a hundred-meter tunnel formed here, right there is the Crimean cave, the entrance to which is only from the sea, since it is 10 meters below the surface of the water. Its length is 150 meters.

The so-called Cup of Love is located in the Small Atlesha - a reservoir with amazingly clear, heavenly-colored water. The diameter of the reservoir is only 20 meters, its uniqueness is that it has a tunnel with a length of 6 meters, which connects the reservoir with the sea.

In this place you can enjoy not only unique landscapes, but also visit an amazing museum under water. Here is the famous Avenue of Leaders, for the inspection of which it is necessary to dive 13 meters. Such an underwater gallery is popular.

Organized over 15 years ago, the underwater museum boasts a collection of busts of communist leaders and socialist leaders who have remained in the history of the USSR. All of them are built on stone shelves and racks and buried under the water column.

The underwater museum at Cape Tarkhankut is considered the attraction of the Crimea, which is worth a visit. Organizers are always ready to add new figures to the collection. Today it has more than 50 different busts. The so-called Avenue of Leaders is something amazing.

Visibility is so good that the avenue of busts can be seen even from the surface of the water surface.

You should definitely visit the former estate of General Popov, which is located on the territory of the "Sunny Valley" boarding house. After the restoration, they tried to preserve it in the same form as during the construction; you can use the surrounding park for a day or evening walk. This is the part of the village where the most elite houses and mansions with sculptures and pools stand.
