Winters are mild, temperatures drop below +5, and summers are comfortable - about +25 degrees Celsius.
The history of the city dates back to the VI century, when the Genoese built the Aluston fortress. Over time, a trading settlement of Lusta was formed around it. Alushta received the official status of the city in 1902.
Today, the resort area is located along the sea on the territory of 40 km. There are many beautiful places to visit. From the top of Mount Chatyr-Dag the whole Crimea is visible, its slopes are a reserve. There is the famous source of Savlukh-Su, the water in which is high in silver. On the slope of Demerdzhi is the Valley of Ghosts with fantastic curly cliffs and boulders, which are about a billion years old. In the Alushta region, magnificent cascading waterfalls are especially noteworthy.
Yalta
Yalta is the most wonderful resort city of Crimea. Big Yalta stretched for 72 km. Only half of this territory is occupied by buildings, and the rest - parks and squares with tropical plants.
Active settlement occurred back in the VIII century BC. e. Before the conquest of the Crimea by the Russian Empire, Yalta experienced a complex history, it was either a tiny village, then expanding to the scale of the city. Gaspra
The village is located at Cape Ai-Todor, administratively attached to Yalta, but lives its quiet peaceful life. It is here that the visit card of the Crimea is located - “Swallow's Nest”.

Options for relaxing with children
Cities and towns of the Southern coast of Crimea are the best places to relax with children. Everything is suitable for kids and older children here - climate, unique flora and fauna. Excursions and museums will expand their horizons, and a rich entertainment industry will make the rest vivid and memorable.
The mountain range covers the coast from the north winds, and the south ones bring coolness on hot days. Therefore, it is not too cold or tiresomely hot, the climate is close to the subtropical Mediterranean, it rains a little, mainly in winter and autumn. When arriving with children in the autumn or spring, pay their attention to a sharp change in climatic conditions: it was just a cold autumn, and when you enter the territory of the South Coast, you find yourself in a summer setting with green parks flooded with sunlight and heat.
Children with diseases of the lungs and upper respiratory tract are brought to Crimea.
Some parents of children with asthma change their place of residence on the Crimean peninsula, here the disease is much easier.
The unusual warm and mild climate made it possible to grow exotic plants on the south coast, which were brought here from the hot countries of all continents. Children are definitely worth a visit Nikitsky Botanical Garden. They will remember this trip for life. There you can see incredibly beautiful magnolia flowers, like large saucers that open on trees. Bamboo groves grow only in southern countries, and in the Crimea they are.
Children are impressed by 3-6-meter thin foliage trunks, which the guide calls grass. In the south of the peninsula, cypresses, sequoia, strawberry and breadfruit grow, lotuses swim in the ponds. The famous pistachio tree 8 meters in circumference is surprising; it is more than a thousand years old. You can see cactus mini-gardens, as well as millions of roses and chrysanthemums.
The subtropical climate promotes the living of exotic insects, large scorpions, tarantulas, salpug, scolopendra. There are not many of them, and they try to hide from people, but children should explain if they meet a large insect, you can’t touch it, it’s better to watch it. On the peninsula you can see beautiful yellow snakes, in fact, they are harmless legless yellow lizards, they do not need to be afraid or offend.
It is definitely worth visiting excursions with children, they enjoy walking around ancient palaces, ruins of fortresses and castles, visiting museums, and getting acquainted with the rich multinational history of the peninsula.
The entertainment program for children is also impressive, you can visit dolphinarium, zoo, crocodile aquarium, sea animal theater. Have fun at the water park, see the Yalta glade of fairy tales, the pirate museum, miniature park in Alushta. Kids love to attend caves, waterfalls and a cable car ride.
How to choose?
The southern coast of Crimea is a coastal area that stretches 150 km along the sea. Like cozy pearls, small cozy resort towns and villages are scattered around it. In any of them, the rest will be unforgettable, because these places have an ancient history, a good climate, unique landscapes, magnificent vegetation and an attractive sea.
To understand where to go to rest, you should decide on your desires. This can be extreme hobbies, vacations with children, a passing study of history or a pleasant pastime for lazy people. For each task, there are suitable places for recreation.
Extreme
Nature itself in Crimea has an active holiday - mountains, sea, forest, caves. It's easy to choose a hobby for every taste.
- Rope jumping. In Yalta, on Mount Ai-Petri, you can "drown" in the clouds. There at an altitude of 1200 meters above sea level is an excellent platform for jumping.
- Cycling A fascinating route starts from the village of Massandra (Nikitsky Pass). It passes through a reserve with wonderful vegetation along an asphalt winding road.
- Mountaineering. Most climbers love Foros Kant, the starting point of which is the village of Foros. The summit is rich in beautiful convenient routes for beginners, but it also has serious, difficult tracks for professionals.
- Caving. Crimea is rich in various caves. We recommend visiting the Marble Cave, where it will even be difficult to get dirty. You can explore the Miskhor grottoes in Ai-Petri, Chatyr-Dag cave, Red.
- In cities and towns offer jeep tours and walks on ATVs that combine perfectly with visiting amazing places that are difficult to reach for backpackers.
With kids
Visiting interesting places with children, we described above. Now we will stop only at places of residence.
- With children it’s convenient organized rest in sanatoriums, boarding houses, hotels where "all inclusive", no need to waste time on self-catering and searching for excursions. You should choose a sanatorium with its own beaches and large territories.
- Private sector. With small children it is better to settle closer to the sea, in places without steep climbs, since the South Coast is a mountainous area, there will be enough descents and ascents here.
- Fans of wild recreation should choose Alushta, the village of Solnechnogorsk or Katsiveli. Every year, whole tent cities grow in it, in which there are no problems with water, food or entertainment.
With excursions
As for excursions, they are organized everywhere, even in the smallest villages. They can show interesting places far beyond the selected area. Excursions with entertainment programs are offered, for example, a full day trip to the water park or dolphinarium with boat rides.
For lazy people
Such a vacation involves housing near the sea and many food establishments - restaurants, cafes, bars, cheburechnye, barbecue and others.
When resting in the Crimea, you should remember: the larger the city, the more expensive the products, the service, and the more money you will have to leave.
An unforgettable vacation can also be obtained in small villages - they are more comfortable and quieter, suitable for those who are tired of the noise of industrial areas.
