Morality is an acquired quality of a person, following certain rules, with which a decision is made on a particular action in relation to others. It is almost always based on religious morality, local customs, philosophical views, or family traditions. To many, it seems to be synonymous with morality or ethics. So then, what will be moral for some, for others may be considered unacceptable. The structure of morality depends on the social guide.

Qualities of moral behavior

Moral behavior implies that a person can have certain qualities. Let's consider them in more detail.

Sacrifice

This is a willingness to push personal needs and needs into the background. In extreme form, sacrifice is the willingness to sacrifice life for the salvation of another person. But this is an extreme case. Two main forms of sacrifice stand out:

  • Stimulated by external factors, such as moral moralizing, tales of alien self-sacrifice, heroism, and other educational methods. This form is characterized by the presence of a reasonable sense of duty, as well as feelings of guilt if it is not fulfilled.
  • A natural form of sacrifice or self-sacrifice is characteristic of closely related relationships, where concessions for the sake of a blood member of the family are written at a subconscious level. From here, natural altruism originates. A frequent manifestation is the assistance and concessions of senior family members in relation to their own children, grandchildren. So, in conditions of limited provisions, it is the children who receive food in the first place. This mechanism is especially strong between mother and child, where the supremacy of interests and needs of the second is at the level of instinct.

Justice

This is the conformity of any actions to the norms of the set of rules that a person chooses for himself, as something higher than his own desires. It is expressed both in a personal plan and in relation to other people's actions. From an emotional point of view, a violation of justice by itself causes a feeling of guilt and a desire to make amends for it.

If justice is violated by someone, then emotions range from indignation to anger (depending on the severity of the act and the reaction of the “intruder” to censure). The stumbling block is often a different idea of what is right and what is wrong, because people of different cultures live in one country.

In such a situation, the presence of a balanced legal field on the part of the state is especially important.

Awareness of Action

People living in concert with any code of rules (regardless of the nature of their origin), before making a decision, verify their intention with a similar norm in the law that they consider right. Someone does this directly during the events, and someone presents various situations that may be taking place. Every action is always checked against the norm. In case of non-compliance with the norm, the law prevails among moral people.

Sympathy

Putting yourself in the place of another person, it is easier to understand not only his motives, but also how he behaves on your behavior towards him, as well as what he feels at that moment. Thus, we get a look at the situation from two sides. This allows you to more fully evaluate your act. Empathy is one of the qualities valued at different times in many cultures, religions and philosophical schools. It is one of the necessary conditions for a healthy society.

Charity

It is an instrument of compassion through which a person, having delved into the problems of another (and having the opportunity to help him), tries to correct the situation. Coping with the problems of others, the moral individual manifests his own "I" in one of the highest forms.

Awe

This feeling of hypertrophied respect, admiration and gratitude in relation to traditions, great deeds, as well as their authors from previous generations. Through it, a person dissolves in the culture of society and becomes involved in its views on the world. Awe serves the goal of maintaining and raising the bar of morality in society, instructing people to do worthy deeds. It inspires fear of low deeds, threatening to become an unworthy representative of its culture.

Rules of moral conduct

So that the behavior was moral, the general set of rules can be expressed as follows:

  • Before you commit an act, think about what the consequences will be, how it will affect other people, whether it will harm them. Think about your actions in advance.
  • Interacting with another person, think not only about your interests, but also about the interests of a partner, colleague, fellow traveler. Someone always takes the first step and gives way to the first. A good example often resonates, and in its absence, it becomes clear who is being dealt with.

The golden rule of morality is: “do what you want to do in relation to you”

  • Pay attention to the problems of others, sympathize with them in difficult times, especially for single people and those who have no one to expect help from.
  • Provide all possible assistance to those who need it. Even a little participation from other people can give strength to someone who is in a difficult situation.
  • Try to be guided by informed decisions that are not justified by anyone's interests. Look at things abstracted (from the neutral side), and also watch how other people act.For evil to triumph, the inaction of good people is enough.
  • Respect those who were before you and their deeds, if they were worthy. Try to inherit it. Anyone who reaches for the high bar may not win the Olympics, but will still be its participant.

The formation of a sense of responsibility should occur in early childhood. Immoral behavior is unacceptable to people. Conscience is the regulator of the behavior of many individuals. In the human understanding, spirituality and morality should be in every person. The basis of etiquette has criteria that determine acceptable actions. The main standards and samples of moral behavior should be in every person.
