Making clothes stylish without a needle has become easy thanks to the twists.

Turn-ups on shirts, jackets and jeans speak of your good taste and awareness of the latest innovations in the fashion world. There are a number of instructions and rules on how to properly make up the jeans upholstery in accordance with the type of jeans, shoe models, height and width of the upside down. Let's figure it out in order.

Where did such a model come from?

So, where did the fashion for tucked jeans come from? Modern designers are increasingly returning to the fashion of the 80s of the 20th century, when the trend was to go in oversized sweaters, tucked up jeans and sneakers. There are several ideas from where jeans with a twist came to us.

One of the first is skaters. They tucked jeans for the practical purpose - so that the pants did not interfere with pushing off and riding a skateboard.

The second version of the transition of sub-gates to the world of fashion is the American youth subcultures - punks and rockers who were popular in the 80s.

This issue has not yet been resolved, and we can choose any version of the appearance of upheavals as a mass fashion phenomenon that is convenient for us.

Of course, this is not a 100% return to the past, but a rethinking of what has already happened. One thing is for sure - fashion is cyclical. All that was forgotten returned in a slightly different interpretation.

Step-by-step instructions on the type of turn

Making a stylish twist is an art.For example, for dense fabrics, one turn is enough to make the fabric fit nicely and show the beauty of your ankles.

There are three main types of upheaval, these are: narrow, wide and medium. What is the difference and how to make them correctly, read on in our article.

Narrow

A narrow undercoat of about 3 centimeters is more suitable for short and straight jeans to create an informal look.

  1. Wrap the bottom (bottom) of the leg once. You will get a turn of about 1.5 cm.
  2. Turn up the resulting twist again. So your leg will be shortened by about 3 cm.
  3. Stretch the trouser leg along the main seams, so you fix the gateway.
  4. Repeat step 1-3 with another leg.

Such a turn-up is tight due to the base-seam. Now your trouser leg is on the ankle or just above it.

For this twist, choose tight jeans so as not to create additional volume for your bow.

Middle

  • Set aside about 3 centimeters from the leg edge.
  • Tighten the leg to this width.
  • Use your hand to smooth the lapel to fit it and fold it again to the same width. The middle gateway is ready.
  • Follow steps 1-3 with the second leg in the same way.

To add volume to your doorways, DO NOT smooth the first doorway with your hand. This way you get a sloppy effect for your jeans.

The width of the middle turn is about 3-4 cm, most often it is done on models by a boyfriend and / or self-friend.

Wide

In most cases used for long legs. Best suited for “pipe”, “mom-jeans” models. Also suitable for narrow models.

  1. Add 4-5 cm to the seam at the bottom of the leg.
  2. Tighten the leg to this length. If the fabric is very dense, it is better to make a single wide turn.
  3. Check that the seam is flat and does not roll into the platen. If necessary, and appropriate fabric, fold up the leg again.
  4. For the second leg, follow steps 1-3 in the same sequence.
  5. Flatten the resulting gates with an iron to maintain shape.

So, you’ve got a turn-over of about 5-6 cm wide. Straight wide jeans are not suitable for this type of turn, otherwise your bow will not be elegant and feminine.

To prevent one turn on jeans, turn it over with a hot iron. Do this after washing when the cloth is wet. Then a single gateway will hold on better.

Who should not do twists

  • Girls with a “pear” figure should not make twists on jeans so as not to increase their volumes.
  • Ladies of short stature also should not shorten their jeans to avoid visual shortening of the silhouette.
  • A narrow twist will help make your figure slimmer.

By type of jeans

To start the experiment with your favorite jeans, let's decide on their model.

For skinny

Throws on skinny jeans are best done by thin girls. At the same time, choose shoes with heels as shoes.

It’s best to choose narrow gates for the skinny, so you emphasize the beauty of your ankles and do not add volume to your lower leg.

For direct models

The best option for the upheaval is direct jeans models. Tightening straight jeans, you create a contrast that shows the elegance of female ankles against a wide leg. In addition, you can easily narrow your trouser legs down by choosing a wide gate or three-dimensional gate.

Sloppy for boyfriend jeans

For boyfriends, an average or volumetric twist would be ideal. Designers recommend twists for this particular jeans model so that the image of “negligence” is complete.

If your boyfriends are torn, then choose a “sloppy” upheaval. To do this, do the middle turn in accordance with the instructions above, and then screw one edge of the seam outward as shown in the photo.

Double upside down

An important difference of such a turn will be its width of more than 5 cm. To do this, turn up the trouser leg as for the middle turn, repeat again so that the width is more than 5 cm.For a double upholstery, a medium-density or very heavy jeans is best suited. Be careful when choosing a double upholstery, as it can visually shorten the leg.

Inner turn to reduce length

In most cases, an internal undercoat is done to shorten the jeans without scissors. It is best to do such twists on skinny jeans or other models of thin jeans. For example, stretch.

The width of the gate here depends on your desire and the required length.

  1. Turn the jeans inside out.
  2. Make the trouser leg up to the required width.
  3. Smooth the gate with an iron so that the edge of the leg becomes flat.
  4. Follow steps 2 and 3 for the second leg.
  5. Turn the jeans to the front side.
  6. Iron the bottom of the legs with an iron again to give a flat edge to the legs.

What to wear?

Jeans with twists belong to the style of casual and “grunge”. It is best to combine them with wide shirts, a variety of T-shirts and long-sleeves. Wear a lightweight blouse and a knit cardigan to create a more feminine look.

A denim vest and shirt with a small geometric print will look good.

To complete your look, choose a small bag or backpack.

Shoes “on the low run” are the best choice. Combine upholstered jeans and loafers, slip-ons or loafers.

Tips

  • Carelessly twisted gates look more interesting on free-cut models.
  • To determine the required width of the opening, put on jeans and look in the mirror. So you exactly decide what you want.
  • In jeans made of lightweight fabric, you should not do voluminous twists, otherwise you will add a couple extra pounds to your figure.
  • In places where the dress code is respected, it is better not to appear in tucked up jeans, since this is a casual style.
  • Flared jeans are not designed for upholstery, turning flares will make you look ridiculous.
  • Denim jeans and ballet flats are inappropriate; keep this in mind when deciding to put something on.
  • Choose a solid or less bright top.
  • Use a minimum of accessories.
  • A wide aisle will be ideal for jeans in dark colors.
  • For light shades of jeans, choose the middle twist.
