Crimea beaches: types and location
A visit to the Crimea is unambiguously associated with a beach holiday. But even most of those who regularly go there know a little about these beaches - they usually choose several familiar sites and calm down on that. This approach is fundamentally wrong: you need to properly study the coast of Crimea.
Varieties
The total length of the Crimean coast reaches about 980 km. It is customary to divide this coast into 3 main parts according to their geographical location. The beaches of Crimea, located on the southern part of the peninsula, are mostly small pebble, only fragments covered with sand are occasionally found. In this area, the coast is thoroughly equipped.
You can find both private and secluded areas.
The leader in terms of the number of vacationers is Yalta Massandra beach. During its preparation in the 1950s, a large amount of gravel was washed. Now it is a gray pebble strip. In the east of the Crimean peninsula, areas covered by small pebbles predominate. Between them, as an impromptu divider, are capes.
Massifs approach in these places almost to the coast. Bathing, you can see the brilliant landscapes of the mountains. The most attractive stretch of coast is the Feodosia Golden beaches, on which small shell deposits accumulate. If tourists like exotic, they need to go on Black, aka Tsarsky beach. It is located in the village of New World.
If we proceed to the inspection of the western coast of the peninsula, then even yellow sand predominates there. In general, sandy areas are more common than other options. Pebble coasts are less actively used for seaside leisure. And the most exotic type is the shell shore.
Where are you located?
Now let's try to more clearly link the Crimean beaches to specific points and cities on the map. On the Azov coast, sand and shell sections dominate, which reach a very large length. On the Arabat Spit, the length of the beaches is at least 100 km. Good and the so-called General's beaches, which are a rocky space, diluted with oases of sand. Positive ratings often give shore on the line Shchelkino - Novootradnoe - Golden; It is recommended to go here for those who prefer clean sand.
The Black Sea coast stands out for its impressive diversity. You need to look for excellent sand strips all the way from the Kerch Strait to Feodosia. The southern coast of the peninsula on the line Sudak - Yalta - Sevastopol is covered with pebbles and stone. The comfort of the sites varies greatly, which allows people to choose the best place for themselves.
The most landscaped areas naturally occupy the official line of cities and towns of resort type. But the problem with them is that because of the good arrangement, a maximum of tourists goes there.
You can eliminate the difficulty by learning more about secluded areas in the same area. The South Coast is also abundant in “wild” coastal territories, where nudists and ordinary extreme sportsmen are eagerly sent. It is also worth considering that the southern tip of the peninsula cannot boast of the special purity of the sea.
The reason for this is quite objective: the natural process of water purification is inhibited due to the characteristics of the currents and the bottom topography.
The west side is enormously diverse, as is the south. The farther to the north, the lower the usual height of the rocks and their steepness. North of Sevastopol and northwest of Yevpatoriya, the coastal strip is finally "calming down." From these landmarks it is worth starting the search for sandy areas that are optimally suited for family leisure. But it is important to realize that between Maryino and the Lighthouse (vicinity of Tarkhankut) a lot of high cliffs are collected.
Top best
Making a formal rating for Crimean beaches almost does not make sense. After all, all people have their own specific priorities, and any locality has its own characteristics and nuances. Therefore, it is worthwhile to give a description of the most beautiful sections of the Crimean coast in the review. Theodosian one also definitely falls into the number of such sites. Pearl beach.
His name is associated with the characteristic coloring of sand.
A wide strip is used not only to accommodate vacationers, but also for the placement of sun loungers, sun umbrellas. Passing along this part of the coast is completely free for everyone. Younger visitors will enjoy inflatable attractions and space for games.
Another magnificent beach is Massandra - starts from the Yalta sea station itself. There are prepared a maximum of conditions so that the rest was pleasant and safe.
The administration equipped changing cabins and shower buildings, took care of the placement of rescue posts. Spa areas are available. On the promenade, it is easy to find compact cafes and shopping establishments. Moreover, according to some estimates, Massandra Beach is recognized as meeting international quality criteria. And you can diversify leisure time by walking along the streets of old Yalta.
In Sevastopol high quality stands out for such a section of the coast as Cossack Bay, on Cape Khersones. This area is covered with stone and forms a very gentle slope. It gathers mainly lovers of quiet leisure who want to get rid of the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Pure coastal vacations can be “diluted” with yacht rental and fascinating walks on them. You can also go on excursions to the nearby aquarium and dolphinarium.
Moving away from Koktebel for 40 minutes, you may find yourself on the shores of the quiet bay. It is surrounded by cliffs, and the sea here is almost the cleanest in the vicinity.Rocks effectively cover the inner part of the bay from the wind, even when serious storms go on the Black Sea. On the beach, an amazing view of Cape Chameleon, so named for its unusual shape, attracts attention.
The coast geometry here allows vacationers to disperse quite far from each other. You can go down into the water on a gentle slope. All this creates almost ideal conditions for swimming with children.
If tourists weren’t in Koktebel, but in Sevastopol, then they will lose a lot without visiting Jasper beach at Cape Fiolent. It is separated from the city by 15 km. The decisive stage is overcoming the stairs with 800 steps.
This place is hardly suitable for daily visits, however, it is worth visiting at least once. The coast is covered with pebbles of different colors. With luck they even find jasper with inclusions of pyrite. The water in this place is very clean. But there are relatively few people, even at the peak of holiday time.
Balaklava "Fig" is an attractive wild beach. They fall on it exclusively by sea. Tourists usually rent skiffs in Balaclava (nicknamed, by the way, Crimean Venice). But the Simeizskaya Swan is an excellent coastal recreation area in the style of "nude". The beach got its name due to the fact that it was located under the rock Swan Wing.
The territory is covered with giant boulders, to the extent complicating the entrance to the water. The same stones become a source of danger in windy weather. Nevertheless, many people willingly travel to the Blue Bay (not only to the Swan itself, but also to its surroundings). It is not possible to set up a tent near the beach, as you cannot find even areas. Campsites are located at least 100 m above the coast.
If the rest surrounded by nudists does not bother, then from Simeiz you need to move in the direction of Katsiveli. Having discovered that Mount Cat is on the right and the wild coast is on the left, they are looking for a parking place. From it the descent to the sea will be 200 m. Well, the next point of view makes us return to Balaclava. Vasili Beach named after the nearby town.
There are many ancient legends associated with this land. And without even going into their details, it is easy to understand why they are stacked. Sophisticated, bizarre relief disguises a lot of excellent sites on the shore from an inexperienced look. Pebble "Vasili" are located west of the Balaklava Bay by about 1,500 m.
Although the territory is the property of a boarding house during mining, you can visit it without hindrance.
290 m of pebbles and golden sand, bounded by azure sea waters and impassable cliffs, look brilliant. The left side of the coastline is smoother and not so steep. To the right is a group of large boulders. For an experienced look, it is immediately obvious: once there was a fierce struggle between various geological processes, which formed such an unusual landscape. Most vacationers do not think about it and simply appreciate the opportunity to enjoy the untouched nature.
However, there are manifestations of modern civilization on the Vasily beach. Climbing the stairs, which includes 180 steps, tourists can eat ice cream or order cold drinks in the cafe. The beach site itself is equipped as it should. There are changing cabins, and toilet houses, and awnings. Equipment for travelers is rented, and rescuers are constantly on duty.
The shore is of a mixed type (that is, it is formed by a combination of sand and small pebbles). Near the rocks is not recommended. This is both inconvenient (pebbles far from the surf are larger) and dangerous (there is a risk of landslides). They usually get to Vasili by sea taxi. On rented boats you can get there in 10 or 15 minutes.
If tourists decide to relax in the village of Beregovoy, then they should definitely get acquainted with the golden beach. This stretch of coast is parallel to the Kerch highway between Malysheva street and Solnechny lane.On the beach lies a large number of shells worn to a state of small crumbs. Therefore, the softness of the sand is guaranteed, and there is no particular need for the use of sunbeds.
The beach got its name because of the characteristic colors.
The bottom contains individual stones, however, it is convenient to descend into the water. Even not too prepared swimmers will easily enter the sea. The word "Golden" is appropriate for another reason - this piece of coast is simply huge. In addition to its large width, its length helps (approximately 5 km). Many hotels are located nearby, while the municipal status of the beach allows you not to pay for its visit.
Minibuses traveling from far away are often overloaded at the peak of the season. And right at the stop, many people have to cross the roadway of the intercity highway. The movement in this place is not regulated in any way, so you need to be extremely vigilant. Important: immediately after the storm, the appearance of the Golden Beach is spoiled by algae deposits. But if this is not important, you can come any day - algae is completely safe.
Despite all the particular problems, this site is considered the best on the peninsula. Well, the beach near the village of Lazurnoe will ideally suit those who travel to Alushta. The climate of those places is as close as possible to the Mediterranean, so the duration of the bathing season is very long. With luck, you can count on comfortable swims in the sea until mid-October.
But even in relatively cool years, swimming is possible until the last days of September.
Part of the shore is equipped and maintained clean. Where back in the late 1980s the construction of a large boarding house began, they managed to put the area in order before it stopped, sprinkling with pebbles. Breakwaters are also constructed. But the problem is that security allows tourists to enter the equipped space only for money. Other sections of the coast look wild underlined. There are lots of stones, in many places rocks have fallen off.
But the coast is not crowded with vacationers and there are no annoying children with their constant games and screams. The air is quite clean, and nature in its original form looks really beautiful. Those who stayed at the Santa Barbara Hotel in Alushta will have access to a branded hotel beach. You can get to Utes cliff where it is located by regular buses.
An attractive feature of the place is the general view of the coast. Preferring the extreme south of the peninsula (Foros), you'll love it for sure Pink beach. He, like many others, got his name because of the color of the surface. The pieces of rubble turned by sea waves turned into pebbles sparkling in the sun. Fans of deep dives are eagerly sent here. Umbrellas and sunbeds are available for rent throughout the official swimming season.
The nudist Sunny Paradise in Yevpatoriya fully lives up to its name. The shore at this place was fenced, provided with a written notice of the rules. The administration has prepared a complete set of the benefits of civilization. Note: no one objects to the “standard” bathing. For those who wish to combine a beach holiday with the enjoyment of the natural environment, it makes sense to go to the Opuk shore of Lake Koyashsky.
Regular bus services are not organized there. But you can get there by car. With a width of 30 m, the beach stretches for 2 km, covered with shell sand. The territory is clean, most go there with tents. Important: tourists should be careful when entering the sea and not let children go unattended.
Also worth mentioning are beaches such as:
- Central (in Nikolaevka);
- "Crab" (in Storm);
- Super Aqua near Evpatoria.
How to choose?
To summarize, we can point out such features of a beach holiday in different parts of the peninsula. Lovers of stormy leisure in comfortable places should definitely go south. But they are not recommended to go there for those who want to relax or simply do not like to lie on pebbles instead of sand. The western part is just covered with sand, however, the landscapes in the steppe are frankly dull. In the east, the conditions are most diverse, you only have to choose places where there are beautiful mountains (and this is not always the case).
The northern segment of Crimea is quiet and calm. The swimming season there lasts a long time, but you should not worry when bathing children. The problem is that the infrastructure is almost absent. If there is no way to carry everything you need, including water, with you, the north will not work. And one more piece of advice - be sure to get acquainted with the reviews about specific places, then there will be less problems.
