Description and History
Aivazovsky Park is part of a health-improving complex. This delightful green area with ponds, waterfalls and exotic plants was created in 1966 on the site of vineyards.
The work was carried out for about 2 years. It was necessary to strengthen the coast, drill wells to optimize the position of groundwater, build terraces, create reservoirs. Gardening took place both by planting young seedlings and by moving already adult specimens. Designers were able to successfully combine natural vegetation with cultures brought from other places. This can explain the fact of the location within the relatively young park of an ancient grove.
Olive trees are already about 200 years old, which cannot but impress.
The creators combined elements of various cultures in the design of the territory. These are ancient Greek, Turkish, Italian, Russian and other motifs.The influence of Greece is especially noticeable. Graceful sculptures depicting the heroes of mythology, amphoras and other characteristic elements fit perfectly into the exotic greenery.
Horse figures create associations with ancient brands. Amazing waterfalls and flowerbeds suggest the preferences of powerful khans. Comfortable benches in the shadow of thick alleys recreate the atmosphere of the Golden Age of the Russian aristocracy. You can also find here a tribute of respect and admiration for the traditions of distant peoples. For example, there is spectacular Japanese garden.
Known that once here rested Pushkin, Griboedov, Raevsky. A visit to the park by these bright personalities also did not pass without a trace (this was reflected in the sculptural masterpieces).
As for greenery, on the territory of "Paradise" you can see More than 300 different types of plants. An area of 25 ha holds about 15 thousand trees and about 40 thousand shrubs. Most of them are conifers (cedars, pines, sequoias). Many are planted with groves. There are tropical plants here. Interesting are cacti, cork oaks, large-flowered magnolias, cunnings. Surprising, but harmonious seems the neighborhood of different shrubs and trees with palm trees.
Numerous flowers cover the garden with a fragrant cloud of aromas. At the same time, everything is thought out to the smallest detail: when some crops fade, others replace them. For all plants, drip irrigation is provided.
The park is usually not too hot even on the hottest day. Numerous water features (fountains, pools, waterfalls, streams) increase comfort, creating a welcome coolness.
Especially worth highlighting The Well of Temptations. It is believed that it helps to realize any desires. To do this, lower your hand into the water, mentally concentrating on the dream. However, everything is not so simple, because the water here is icy. Hence the name of the mysterious place.
Terraces of the park offer a beautiful panorama of the village and its surroundings. This allows you to capture in photographs not only the beauty of the Paradise itself, but also other picturesque places of Crimea.
The territory of the park is maintained in impeccable condition. Employees monitor the cleanliness and order, condition of plants and sculptures. The name in translation means "paradise", which is quite true.
A visit to this place always leaves tourists with a lot of positive emotions and enthusiastic memories.
Where is?
Crimean park "Paradise" is located in the village of Partenit, near the mountain Ayu-Dag. Once there was a small Aivazovskoye village. Now it is a sanatorium of the same name.
The majestic mountain, shrouded in mysterious legends, effectively contrasts with the green park area. "Paradise" is not the property of the sanatorium. Therefore, anyone can enjoy its splendor, you just need to buy a ticket.
How to get there
Tourists often complain about the inconvenience of the path from the center of Partenit to the park. The fact is that a connoisseur of such attractions will have to overcome a rather steep climb. To facilitate the task, you can use an electric car. However, this is the property of the sanatorium, and their number is small.
If you are not a vacationer in Aivazovsky, you will first need to get to the village. You can take the bus number 110 at the Yalta bus station. You can get from Alushta by bus number 109. The journey takes about half an hour, from Yalta to go a little longer. The fare is standard.
You can also take a taxi or use your own transport. By car, you can reach the park in 15-20 minutes.
If you drive your car, you should follow the Yalta-Alushta highway. Before the bus stop "Partenit" you need to turn down. Having descended about 4 km to the sea, you will see numerous parked cars and a store. You need to park before reaching the intersection. Otherwise, you will pass by. It will be difficult to find a suitable place there.
Park Infrastructure
As already mentioned, Paradise combines several types of landscape design. The structure includes different zones, each of which has its own name:
- staircase to them. Raevsky;
- English Garden (concise but picturesque place with winding paths);
- Landscape garden;
- Italian garden;
- Rock garden;
- Garden of aromas;
- Terraced garden;
- Mexican Garden;
- Antique garden with olive grove;
- Japanese garden;
- Garden of Artemis;
- Garden of a mountain stream.
From the main entrance there is a long staircase surrounded by cypress trees. It is named after Raevsky. Staying at different levels, you can enjoy the magnificent view from the observation platforms, admire the bronze sculptures.
Near the stairs you can see Raevsky himself (or rather, his sculpture). The man is depicted with a collection of poems in his hands. Beautiful lampposts made of bronze are pleasing to the eye.
Marble benches invite you to relax, and gazebos made in antique style create a magical atmosphere of the past.
Then the visitor opens a panorama of the bay and Cape Plaka. The views of the Crimean coast are breathtaking. All the way is accompanied by mountain streams, masterpieces of sculptors and juicy colors of green spaces.
At the base of the stairs is an observation deck. In addition to the impressive view of the endless sea, a visitor is waiting for a surprise here. A.S. Pushkin, thoughtfully leaning on a cane, enhances the romantic and dreamy mood created by the splendor of nature.
In summer, you can drive to the bottom of the park by electric car. Of course, you will have to pay a little for such a pleasure.
Here it meets tourists Landscape garden. The spectacular Mexican slide with succulents is liked by both adults and children. The arbor stands out against the background of natural beauty. Here is a sculpture of the goddess Flora.
Next is Italian garden. It is an exquisite place with fountains and small ponds creating a peaceful mood. There are many beautiful stones and, of course, green plants. As in other parts of the park, graceful sculptures can be found in this garden. Especially noteworthy is the "Lady with a Veil." Tourists, as a rule, do not miss the opportunity to make a memorable photo of her.
Having passed the Garden of aromas and the Terraced garden, the visitor goes to the promenade. It leads along palm alleys and interesting sculptures. These are dolphins splashing in the water, and mysterious nymphs. Park heroes of Greek myths successfully fit into a recreation area with a paradise name. For example, the sculpture of Poseidon, menacingly inspecting his possessions, attracts the eye. The composition is complemented by the sea goddess Amphitrite.
Having passed the sea gods, a man finds himself in a pine grove. Here you can relax on a bench and enjoy the aroma of pine needles. Natural aromatherapy is a nice bonus to aesthetic planting.
There are separate beaches for visitors to the park. They have numbers 5 and 6. On a hot day, you can swim here.
The main thing is not to wet or lose the ticket. Otherwise, you cannot get back to the park.
Walking along the sea, a tourist gets in the antique garden. There is also an olive grove. According to most visitors, this part of the park is a real masterpiece. Refined bridges, clinking streams, alpine hills, elegant arbors - everything here causes delight and admiration.
Of particular interest is the snow-white rotunda, specially delivered to the Crimea from Italy. The domed roof and columns harmoniously fit into the overall concept. Also, the gazebo is famous for its powerful acoustic effect (increasing the volume of the voice).
Separately, it is worth noting Mexican garden. A riot of bright colors, succulents, fruit trees - all this creates a hot atmosphere of Mexico. The zone is located in the sunniest place of the park, which is also no coincidence.
But the greatest achievement of the creators of the park is Japanese garden. This is an incredibly atmospheric area with dwarf trees and stone slides.Ponds with neat bridges, a tea house - everything here corresponds to oriental traditions. However, the story behind this part of Paradise is not an easy one.
Japanese garden
The design of the zone with a Japanese theme was conceived in 2010. The object was opened for a while, but then closed again to complete the work. Planning was entrusted to landscape designer Shiro Nakana. The plot was allocated a small one - only 1 ha. However, the work was carried out for almost 8 years.
Many were waiting for the discovery of this miracle and were not disappointed. Years of painstaking work allowed to recreate a real piece of Japan in the resort area.
The entire landscape was redone. Textured stones were delivered from different parts of the world. Due to the specificity, many works were carried out manually. Steps and walking paths were carefully laid out, unique plants carefully planted. Many crops had to be quarantined before landing. Only in this way could they adapt to unusual conditions for them.
The garden is decorated with spectacular cascading waterfalls, beautiful ponds. Camellia pleases with its delicate flowers from the beginning of winter to March. Other shrubs and trees are selected so that some replace the others in their flowering and fruiting. Of course, there are several dwarf trees (bonsai) in Japanese vases in the garden.
Man-made objects complete the harmonious composition. These are traditional bridges, lanterns, and other decorative elements.
Favorite place for most tourists is the center of the garden. Here is a mirror lake and Tea House.
In the future, it is planned to populate the reservoir with carps.
In general, the garden is perfect. This is a whole oriental concept, which is important to understand and feel. That is why a visit to this area involves a walk with a guide. Especially symbolic is the path to the house, made of hemp, located on the impeccable surface of a reservoir. Everyone walking through it should think about the importance of making the right decisions in life and attentive to the smallest nuances.
You can go around the garden in an hour, but you will have enough impressions for a long time. As for the cost of tickets, immediately after the opening, it was very high. However, after the recession of the first months, the prices went down a little.

As already mentioned, a visit to the park is paid. Ticket price: 600 rubles for an adult and 300 rubles for children from 7 to 14 years. Tickets can be purchased at the box office at the entrance to the park. Entrance to the sanatorium is free.
