History of occurrence

Massandra beach has acquired its appearance recently. At the beginning of the twentieth century in its place was absolutely wild. Landslides often occurred throughout the Yalta Bay, the coast and the bottom were so rocky that people could only swim in shoes and were extremely cautious.

In the middle of the last century, the first work on the study and improvement of the beach began, since after the war with Germany there was an urgent need to create sanatoriums and resorts to improve and maintain public health. Specialists carefully studied the seabed, topography and coastlines.

They made a plan so that the beaches were located on the most favorable places for this. As a result, several breakwaters made of concrete were erected just below Massandra Park, they created metal fortifications for the coast, put buns at the bottom, and filled the territory with rubble. And although the beach is in Yalta, they began to call it Massandra.

Description

By the way, the water here always remains clean, despite the fact that in season there are simply a huge number of people on Massandra Beach. Explaining this phenomenon is quite simple. From year to year after the arrangement of the beach, water washed away crushed stone, which led to a reduction in the coastal strip. To stop this experts lowered the sea and created an artificial reef made of anticariotic concrete thirty meters from the coastline. He extinguished the wave washing the beach.

Over time, a large number of mussels settled near the reef, which purify the water. That is why in Yalta such a surprisingly clear sea.

From the stop you need to walk quite a bit towards the sea.

The beach is open from 8 to 17 hours, and the cafe is open until 2 at night.
