It is not practical and difficult to transport the sofa in the assembled state, and to place it in an elevator that is not designed to transport goods of different weights and sizes is not at all possible, and in a truck the sofa will capture most of the free space. However, there is a way out - it is to transport it in a dismantled state. And how to do this - read in our publication.
What do you need?
There are 2 varieties of angular design sofas:
- products containing a 3 or 2-seater unit, complemented by a sofa located perpendicularly;
- models containing a 3 or 2-seater unit, connected by an angular element.
Such sofas have differences in the device and the connecting mechanisms and, of course, a different assembly scheme. However, regardless of the structure, you can disassemble the corner sofa, adhering to the same principle, only with certain clarifications.
To disassemble the sofa into parts, you need the following.
- Screwdriver. It would be nice to have a few, given the shape: flat and cross-shaped.
- Pliers (small and large).
- Wrenches (preferably a complete set for dismantling the mount).
- Furniture stapler. Sometimes fasteners are hidden under the upholstery, it will need to be detached and locked back.
- Screwdriver (with a set of bits).
- Packaging material (thick polyethylene, large and small bags for fasteners).
- Corrugated cardboard.
Diagrams of corner sofas
Carefully read the assembly / disassembly diagram of your sofa, if any, or look on the Internet.
Corner sofas are much more massive than wall-mounted sofas.Among other things, they have a more complex structure, therefore, efforts to disassemble such a modification will need more.
What is an angular model? These are 2 full places to sleep, which are combined by an angular component. Some sofas have one side smaller than the other. Seats and backs can be made in the form of removable cushions or combined into a whole block of a non-collapsible design. Sometimes an additional component is a box for bedding and accessories integrated in the side component.
Step-by-step instruction
In our case, the parsing order will be as follows.
- Primarily free the furniture from the cover and remove the pillows as far as possible, so that they do not get dirt and dust during operation. Remove from the furniture everything that can be removed without the use of tools - armrests, pillows.
- We pull the sofa to the middle of the room or move it away from the wall to an acceptable distance that is comfortable for work.
- We examine the fasteners. This is necessary in order to find out the need for additional tools for dismantling. Keep in mind: in the case when the mechanisms are hidden under the upholstery and fixed with mounting brackets, it is necessary to invite a disassembly specialist, because a special construction gun is required to disassemble such a design. It is unreasonable to acquire this toolkit for a single disassembly.
- Next, remove the sidewalls, and in certain modifications, first of all, we dismantle the tightening bar located on the back of the furniture.
- After that disconnect the seat elementsor both parts of the angular component.
- Examine the short part. If the frame with the seat are connected with special fasteners, it is necessary to unscrew the nuts and remove the soft part. If there is a back on the short part, we carry out its dismantling.
- The angular component is left unchanged.
- We are taken for the analysis of the main part. This procedure depends on the type of transforming device in your furniture. Typically, in modern sofas, a bedding box is usually one part that can be unmounted. If the back and seat with the transformation mechanism are a single unit, then it can only be disassembled by specialists (by and large, it is considered a non-separable mechanism).
- The final stage. The furniture is disassembled, it remains only to thoroughly pack all the components in order to prevent damage during movement and transportation.
Packing recommendations
We pack the sofa like that.
- Sidewalls are packed in pairs.
- The remaining components of the structure must be packaged separately. Thoroughly wrap with polyethylene and transfer to corrugated cardboard, then tightly wrap everything with tape.
- The fixed seat and backrest, as far as possible, are pressed together.
- Fold all the fasteners separately and sign it so that there is no confusion during the assembly process.
Do-it-yourself dismantling does not take much time, however, removes a significant proportion of the load when moving and transporting furniture.
