Montenegro for Russians is one of the few visa-free camps in Europe where you can enjoy an inexpensive beach holiday, the architecture of old cities and fortresses, excellent views of canyons and mountains. Every corner of the country is beautiful in its own way, representing the unspoiled beauty of nature and the preserved national flavor.

History

Tivat Airport, which receives flights from Russia, is located four kilometers from the city, in the village of Mrcevac. The town itself is located on the shore of the Tivat Gulf of the Boka Kotor Bay, the largest on the Adriatic, on the Vramts Peninsula. It is called the gates of this bay and the air gates of Montenegro.

The ancient name of the western part of the Balkan Peninsula is Illyria, and the population was called Illyrians. Their first settlement in the bay dates back to the 3rd century BC. In the Middle Ages, the patrician families of Kotor ruled here. This period is followed by Roman-Byzantine, Serbian, Venetian-Turkish, Austrian and Montenegrin. All of them left traces of government in the territory of the municipality of Tivat.

In the era of Serbian rule at the beginning of the XII century, the city was part of the medieval state of Nemanichi, whose founder was Zupan Stefan Nemanja. In the 13th century, Saint Savva, the founder of the Serbian Orthodox Church, built the monastery of St. Michael the Archangel on the island of Prevlaka and transferred the residence of the Zeta Metropolitanate there. Tivat became a significant religious center of the time.

Under the Venetians, the city became part of Venetian Albania and was called Theodo. Three centuries later, during which power was constantly changing, both the French and the Austro-Hungarians ruled, in the beginning of 1920, he became part of Yugoslavia. Since 2006, Tivat is part of the independent Crna Gora or Montenegro.

After the construction of the Naval Arsenal for the ships of the Austro-Hungarian fleet at the end of the 19th century, Tivat was transferred city rights. In the days of the Republic of Yugoslavia, the repair base of the Yugoslav Navy was based here. Now there is the most magnificent marina on the Adriatic - the Porto Montenegro superyacht parking lot built by businessman from Canada Peter Munch. The Museum of the Collection of Marine Heritage operates under her.

Today, the town is an attractive family resort with a population of 9,500 people. For youth, sports and cultural events are held - the Bokar Olympiad in bowling, Youth Day, the Martyr Fest, Tivat summer celebrations, Cultural Summer and much more.

All year round the city sparkles with carnivals and masquerades. In summer, a Mediterranean theater festival is held. Exhibitions open, give concerts, theater performances, films.

Climate

Tivat has a mild climate with a short and warm winter. Summer is hot and long. In winter, much more rain falls than in summer, although the average annual temperature is + 15 ° C. The driest month is July, which is also the warmest with a temperature of + 24 °, reaching higher values in the sun. No heat is felt due to the ring of mountains surrounding the bay.

The sea warms up to + 27 ° C. It is transparent, visibility is 40-60 meters, and clean. The rainiest month is November, and the January air temperature is only + 7 ° C, which is considered the lowest in the year. Autumn is the rainy season.

Where to live?

Many hotels have been rebuilt since the last century. The price of housing depends on the level of comfort, services offered and proximity to water.
