An expensive watch is not only a functional accessory or a wonderful decoration. It is also an attribute of a successful person, an indicator of his financial viability. Naturally, such an item needs special care. This concerns, first of all, the choice of a place for storing watches.

How and where to store it correctly?

For expensive, rare models or pieces of jewelry value, today there are many different devices for storage.

Caskets

The most common option. A wooden, metal, plastic, stone box is probably in every house. It stores jewelry or valuables. Chronometers can also be stored there.

Timemuvers and Windows

This is also a kind of self-winding watch box. Such a storage will perfectly protect the accessory from moisture, dust, mechanical damage. In addition, this device is a special rotating bowl, the oscillations of which very accurately mimic the movements of the arms of a walking person. Timewravers usually have a glass door through which you can observe the pendulum oscillations of the chronometer.

The clock located in such a device is always ready to work and has almost maximum charge. Constant motion is necessary for mechanical models, otherwise their mechanism ceases to function normally.

Safe box and bag-safe for transportation

An ideal place to store especially valuable specimens whose value or aesthetic value does not allow them to be stored in the public domain. Outwardly, they have nothing to do with the usual bulky code boxes.They remind, rather, unusual interior details, so it is not so easy to notice their uninitiated visitor to the room.

Such safes are equipped with combination locks, special sensors that allow you to "remember" fingerprints, GPS-system, automatic winding and other functions.

For storage of timepieces, you can choose less exotic options. The main thing is to follow simple recommendations:

  • Do not store accessories with a quartz movement near sources of electromagnetic waves. It can be a mobile phone, radio, walkie-talkie or other item;
  • Protect your watch from moisture, dust, mechanical damage (scratches, bumps). This will greatly extend their lifespan;
  • It is recommended that you select a permanent place to store the chronometer. It can be a special stand for an outdoor watch, a small box, a stand, a holder or a miniature hanger. The accessory should always be at hand.

To store the collection, you can purchase special caskets or safes with several compartments. General storage will not harm the watch mechanism in any way, especially since for each instance a special compartment is provided in the box.

Holders

Today they are presented in a huge assortment and allow you to immediately perform 2 functions: the storage location of an accessory and an element of interior decor.

  • Foam pads covered in satin, silk or other beautiful fabric. They allow you to neatly and beautifully place your watch so that it remains in front of your eyes all the time.
  • Layered cushions covered with velvet. Such a product is used to store and display jewelry, bracelets, chains and watches.
  • Vertical stand. This option is most often used in stores. In combination with a soft backlight, the watch looks as impressive as possible.
  • Tablet stand. Such a product has a soft base and a rubberized substrate.
  • Holders in the form of various figures. Interior trifles that allow you to nicely place your watch and take it at any convenient time.

In what position should mechanical watches be stored?

There are no clear recommendations on how to properly position the watch. Usually they are placed upside down to prevent the watch from being scratched.

Instances with moving parts or especially valuable models are best stored in special cases that are supplied by manufacturers along with the purchase. As a rule, they are already equipped with everything necessary for reliable and safe storage.

Bracelet care

A leather or metal bracelet needs to be periodically cleaned so that the watch retains its original luster and beauty for a long time.

The metal bracelet is unpretentious in leaving. Sometimes it’s enough to clean the links with soapy water using an old toothbrush.

One way to clean a metal bracelet is shown in this video.

The skin requires more delicate and delicate care. Watches with a leather bracelet should be kept away from water, and if moisture drops on them, immediately wipe them dry.

It is not recommended to leave such a watch in open sunlight. The skin dries up, cracks, changes the color intensity. Such a bracelet should be cleaned with the help of special tools that can be purchased at the store immediately with the watch or given for professional cleaning to the workshop.
