Tweed fabric appeared in the Victorian era in England. She immediately fell in love with many residents of foggy Albion for its strength, softness and ability to keep warm. The famous writer Arthur Conan Doyle, a Scot by birth and the “parent” of Sherlock Holmes, greatly appreciated tweed clothes. Equipping the famous detective with a tweed cap, he made this fabric even more popular and beloved throughout the world.

Initially, tweed suits were an attribute of only a men's wardrobe, and were clothes for hunting. Over time, such sets began to be made for everyday life, and women who easily take over men's attire, of course, did not bypass the tweed pants.

Features

Today, tweed pants are one of the must-have items in a winter wardrobe.

They warm perfectly, are very pleasant to the skin and practically do not wrinkle. In addition, this fabric, made using proprietary English technology, has a different density and several types of textures that allow you to create very stylish and practical models.

Tweed is made from sheep’s wool and has all its properties, so in such trousers it will be very difficult to freeze.

Models

Wide tweed trousers - almost a classic model that made unrivaled Madame Chanel popular. Known for her revolutionary views on fashion in general and women's wardrobe in particular, she easily transferred tweed trousers from men's collections, slightly modifying and making their style more feminine.

Wide tweed trousers, unlike products from other materials, do not fill a figure that already has extra pounds. This is achieved due to the special cut and the correct combination of the ensemble - an elongated jacket or cardigan will become the best companions for such trousers.

Tweed skinny trousers - a model that combines very well with fitted blazers and vests. Being clothes for the cold season, in this combination, tweed pants will give warmth and comfort to their owner even in the most severe frost. In addition, putting on this model, you can very successfully emphasize the advantages of your figure, because the distinguishing feature of tweed is the ability to visually make the volume smaller than it actually is.

Popular colors and prints

Tweed is a truly English fabric, images and prints on which are formed already at the production stage. Depending on the type of fabric, its texture varies, and, accordingly, the pattern.

The most popular types of tweed are:

Donegal - fabric in which the main thread of one color is interwoven with two threads of weft of other colors. Thanks to this, a small pattern is created with an abundance of nodules, where one color predominates, most often gray.

Harris - A type of tweed, which can be of various shades. Truly Scottish fabric with a colorful pattern and a high degree of wear resistance.

Cheviot. This species got its name from the breed of sheep, from the wool of which the fabric is made. Most often, the color of these animals is black or gray, so tweed trousers from unpainted Cheviot fit perfectly into any business image.

Pepita, or Shepherd’s cage - a material that has a characteristic pattern in the form of a small cell. Initially, it was black and gray, but over time, manufacturers somewhat diversified its colors, introducing green, dark blue and brown shades into the assortment.

Herringbone. Already from the name it becomes clear what this material is associated with. Most often made in green, this fabric is popular with American clothing manufacturers. Shades of this kind range from light green to almost brown, but a constant texture in the form of strips intersecting at an angle will not confuse this fabric with any other.

What to wear?

Tweed trousers will help create an elegant look that will include elements of retro-style, and now popular Casual. Most successfully they will be combined with such a top:

  • Warm jacket or large knit sweater;
  • Elongated cardigan;
  • Pullover with a V-neck;
  • Thick cotton or knit blouse.

When creating an ensemble, remember that a voluminous top should be combined with tight or straight trousers, and vice versa - wide models are best worn with clothes whose style does not imply a loose or flared cut.

From shoes, give preference to modest pumps or neutral-colored shoes.

Remember that it is contraindicated to combine open shoes with models of tweed trousers.

Spectacular images

A great fall combination is wide tweed pants and a cropped navy jacket. The image looks neutral, but at the same time unusually stylish.

A great example of the use of tweed trousers in a business ensemble. A straight gray model in combination with a fitted checkered jacket creates a strict look in which a little variety has been introduced. Light brown suede ankle boots, combining successfully with a blazer print, make the look even more harmonious.

An incredibly interesting image, in which the combination of gray elements of tweed clothes in harmony with the background of the purple cage of the jacket. Such an image can be worn in everyday life, attracting attention with completely neutral things in a bold combination.
