Curls are considered feminine and always relevant, appropriate in any situation, hairdo. It can be soft waves, elastic curls and even so-fashionable black curls this season. The easiest way to change the image and become the owner of curly hair - use curlers. Let's see what they are, as well as how to choose and wind them up correctly?

Features

Curlers are a relatively simple and safe way to get curls. Moreover, having only a few sets of such rollers, you can regularly change the styling. Curlers - salvation for owners of thin thin hair - with their help you can get basal volume and airiness, splendor styling.

It is worth noting and accessibility, ease of use of rollers. Of course, small changes in the structure of the hair with regular use of curlers exist. But if you compare with the effect of ploes or irons, then the effect is minimal.

However, it is undesirable to use curlers for owners of weakened, intensively falling hair. This will amplify an existing problem.

Species overview

Depending on the material of the curlers themselves, as well as the type of curls that their wrapping gives, the following types of tools are distinguished.

Velvet

These are cylindrical rollers made of plastic, covered with a layer of velor. Thereby hair does not tangles and does not cling to curlers, are easily removed. To fix the rollers, a clip or a special stick is usually used. Velvet curlers of various diameters are produced, so with their help it is possible to create a variety of curls.

Boomerangs

Represent “Sticks” based on flexible wire. Top they are covered with rubberized material, less often - foam rubber (not the best option, as the curlers quickly become worthless). The strands on the boomerangs are wound, after which the product itself is bent and left in this form until the hair dries.

You can additionally fix hair curlers with Velcro or elastic bands.

Whooping cough

Whooping coughs known to many Soviet beauties are wooden spiral curlers. Similar products are also used. for a perm. Whooping cough allows you to achieve small elastic curls.

Velcro

These are soft, light-weight curlers made of synthetic materials, the peculiarity of which is the presence of an adhesive layer on the surface. Because of this, the product is sometimes called "hedgehogs." Thanks to the sticky surface, the curlers are attached to the hair and do not slip off, additional fixation is not necessary. Hedgehogs can be of various diameters. Velcro is especially convenient for creating a basal volume, obtaining soft natural curls.

Locks

These are soft foam-based curlers. Due to the different diameter of the products with their help, it is possible to create both large and small curls. Curlers hold well, do not damage the hair structure, and thanks to the characteristics of the material, you can even sleep in them.

Spirals

Soft curlers made of polymer resembling fabric. Such products have the form of a spiral, but are easily unwound. They need to be unwound, put inside the strand, after which the material will assume its original position. Also, the spirals are equipped with a special hook to tighten the strand inward and fix it.

Thermo

These products require heating and subsequent (until the products have cooled down) winding strands on them. By the time the curlers cool down, curls are obtained, however, This method cannot be called completely safe for hair, since there is a thermal effect that destroys the structure of the hair. Initially, the hair curlers were rag material that was heated in hot water (boiled in a saucepan).

Today, rollers are made from modern polymers. They are heated in the oven or in a special container connected to the mains. Modern hair curlers heat up in 5-7 minutes, and cool down in a quarter of an hour. They are suitable for those ladies who do not have much time for styling. However, to use the device, you need a power outlet (if we are talking about thermal curlers in a box), and their frequent use, as already mentioned, is fraught with overdried hair and their fragility.

Depending on the type of material, curlers are metal and wood (the least comfortable to use) and based on polymer, synthetic materials (plastic, foam). Metal products, of course, help to create elastic luxurious curls, but it is important to use them correctly. When fixing the cylinders, you can get creases on the surface of the hair, it is uncomfortable to sleep on such curlers, they are not suitable for weakened hair and for drying hair wound with strands.

Depending on the diameter, it is possible to distinguish curlers of large diameter (some models are so large that they are suitable exclusively for creating a basal volume), medium and small. The curl size and the structure of curls depend on the diameter.

Which to choose?

When choosing this tool, you should focus on the type and length of hair, as well as the desired result. So, for hair of medium length and below, Velcro is not recommended. Due to the small hooks on the surface of the instrument, they get tangled in the hair. In order to remove the roller, you have to tear the hair. But for shorter haircuts, for example, to the shoulder blades and shorter, "hedgehogs" will be the best option. Boomerangs, bobbins and thermal hair curlers can also be wound on such a length.

The larger the diameter of the curlers, the more voluminous the curls will be. If such tools are used on short hair, then it will turn out not even curls, but rather soft waves. For a small curl you need to use curlers of a smaller diameter. For vertical curls and the effect of afro-curls - whooping cough. Velvet curlers, ribbon coils, boomerangs are more suitable for long hair, thermal curlers are for more frequent use.

How to wind the hair depending on the length?

Wet strands should not be wound - they will dry for a long time, and if they are not dried, they will quickly develop. In addition, when winding too wet hair, their structure is violated. Hair should be dry or slightly damp. Only clean hair should be wound. For better fixation, they should be applied styling products - mousse or foam. Treat each strand with one of these tools and use curlers. Ready-made curls can be sprayed with varnish.

Do not pull the strands too muchThis weakens the hair and may cause hair loss. In addition, the scalp is uncomfortable. The thinner the strand that wraps around the roller, the finer the curl.

It is necessary to carefully comb the hair before using curlers and divide the entire mass into the same thickness of the strand. The more uniform they are, the more neat and attractive the curls will turn out.

Always keep curlers until the lock is completely dry. But if after this you continue to go to the curlers, the curls will turn out to be even more tight, elastic. You can dry hair in curlers in a natural way or using a hair dryer. However, the latter is not recommended when using metal rollers. When heated, they will overheat the hair, which is harmful to them. If thermal curlers are used, then a thermal protective agent is first applied to the locks.

Long

Regardless of the length of the hair, before using the curler, the hair must be washed and dried. It is better to dry long ones, and then, if necessary, moisten the locks from the spray gun. Having departed a little from the roots, it is worth distributing the styling styling product on the locks. You can immediately for the entire mass of hair or separately for each strand before curling the curlers. You can get beautiful Hollywood curls at home if I use medium-sized velvet curlers that are wound in the direction from the face.

Long hair is divided into 3 parts - the occipital and 2 lateral. Then divide each of the zones into 2-3 parts, but vertically. The upper locks need to be lifted and fixed so that they do not interfere. From the back of the head, the hair is wound on curlers. You can do this to the roots, or you can only do it until the middle of the hair.

Short

Wash short hair before laying, dry and apply immediately to all hair mousse or spray. After that, you need to comb your hair again. You can make large waves using velcro curlers or velvet products of medium diameter. Separate the strand in the forehead (its width should be slightly less than the width of the cylinder), if necessary, moisten the tip of the strand with water from the spray gun. Attach curlers to the end of the lock and, pulling it, twist the cylinder inward, towards the forehead. If necessary, lock the tool.

Screw the occipital and parietal areas in the same way. Usually moving from the forehead down. Wet hair if necessary. The lateral zones dry the fastest, therefore they work with them last, after sprinkling with water. The hair is twisted to the crown in the upper part of the head towards the forehead, after the crown to the back of the head. Lateral strands are wrapped towards the ears, neck. After drying, the curlers are removed, the hair is taken apart by hands and sprayed with varnish.

Medium

Curling begins with all the same procedures - washing and drying hair. Then the hair needs to be combed well and the whole mass of hair should be divided into 3 parts - 2 lateral and occipital. First, the occipital zone is curled, and the side ones can be fixed with elastic bands or clips for convenience.Separate the lower strand in the back of the head, comb it again, apply the mousse and, putting the tip on the center of the curler, start twisting the cylinder inside the hair, while slightly raising the strand.

Having wrapped all hair, it is worth fixing curlers. In a similar way, you need to wind the entire occipital zone, from the back of the head to the top of the head. Then one of the side zones is released, the lower strand is highlighted, the described actions are repeated. In a similar way, the second side zone is wound. Hair should be allowed to dry completely. Then from the lower rows unwind curlers.
