    • when mixing, you need to follow the instructions, otherwise you can ruin the plaster;
    • it is necessary to strictly follow the application technology so that the coating is durable and beautiful.

    Varieties

    Decorative plaster does not align the walls, but, on the contrary, creates a beautiful relief.

    The compositions can be divided into two large groups.

    Large relief

    Such a composition is easy to apply. it great solution for beginnersthat have not previously carried out finishing work. Small stones, fibers and crystals create a noticeable relief. It is noteworthy that when applying, there is no need to carefully level the coating.

    Small-relief

    Will have to work out so that such a composition looks neat on the walls. Small additional components create the effect of the picture. On the cover you can see every detail. This option is suitable for the implementation of complex decorative elements.

    There are a lot of varieties of textures of decorative plasters. This allows you to choose the original option, but at the same time it can be confusing. It is worth considering the features of different plasters.

    Pebble

    Can be used for decoration of any premises. On the inner wall of the balcony, such plaster will last for a long time even if the balcony is open.

    The surface of the wall under such a composition will be protected from weather conditions and temperature spikes.

    Acrylic, silicone and silicate components are found as the basis of the mixture. Visually, the wall looks like it was showered with sand. The color is natural and depends on the breed of stones in the composition.

    Marble

    Crushed marble is used as a decorative element; particles can be of different sizes in the range of 0.5–5 mm. Dyes, resins, lime and additives are added to the composition to enhance decorative effect.

    It is recommended to varnish this plaster. Otherwise, the composition will crumble under the slightest mechanical stress. Bare marble cannot be washed with detergents.

    Bark beetle

    This option is durable, reliable and has a long service life. High decorative properties make the composition popular among lovers and craftsmen.

    Externally, the walls acquire a woody texture. It is combined with the interior of any style. Furrows can be both almost imperceptible and deep. It all depends on the additional components of the mixture.

    Acrylic plasters must be painted before application to the walls. Compositions on a different basis crumble after drying.

    Venetian

    The plaster contains stone flour. It has a high artistic value and is famous among interior designers.

    Externally, the wall resembles marble. It is noteworthy that the shades are always deep, and the drawings look natural. It is such a surface that can beautifully reflect light.

    Textured gypsum

    This solution allows you to create a lot of different reliefs. The composition can add threads, sand, stones, fibers, gypsum, mica and more. The application is quite complex and is carried out in several stages. With the help of rags, figured rollers, sponges, you can create a unique relief. Such plaster will help to visually fix the curved walls.

    The gypsum composition does not tolerate a high level of humidity, it is used on glazed balconies with heating.

    The properties of decorative plaster largely depend on the main material of the composition. The following varieties are worth noting:

    • silicone base - it can be used on facades, wearproof, quietly transfers aggressive and changeable conditions;
    • mineral base - It works well in warmth, decorates walls for a long time, but such plaster cannot be used if the balcony is open and without heating;
    • lime base - externally, such a composition is similar to natural stone, used exclusively for interior decoration; it is important that the balcony is heated and glazed;
    • plant base - the plastered wall with this treatment passes air well and does not deteriorate from moisture;
    • vinyl or acrylic base - the walls under such plaster do not breathe, so they must be pre-treated with compounds against fungi and mold; damp and moisture to the plaster are not terrible;
    • gypsum base - high decorative properties require certain conditions; can only be used in warm and glazed loggias;
    • cement base - universal mixture can be used for work in any conditions; Wear-resistant and durable plaster is not afraid of moisture, temperature difference and mechanical stress.

    How to choose?

    Decorative plaster is universal. Depending on the composition, it can be used on any balcony. When choosing, several criteria must be considered.

    • The presence or absence of glazing on the balcony. It is from this criterion that it is worth starting from when choosing a composition. If the balcony is fully open, then plaster is used for facade work. Balcony with heating can be decorated with a composition for internal work. In some cases, for example, with cold glazing, it is better to give preference to plasters for the street.

    Such a decision will guarantee that sudden changes in the weather and an accidentally left open window will not lead to disastrous consequences.

    • Large-relief compositions are used for external works, and small-relief compositions are used for internal works. So, Venetian plaster can only be used on a warm and insulated balcony.
    • If the balcony is combined with the room, then it is worth choosing the texture and color so that the overall view is harmonious. On a separate loggia, any material that is suitable for the conditions of use can be used.
    • Coarse grains absorb noise better. On the balcony with such decoration will be quieter and more comfortable.
    • If you want to realize a complex design, then it is better to choose composition without pigment and separately purchase paint.

    Preparatory work

    Decorative plaster is quite easy to use.

    The result of use will be especially attractive if you properly prepare the walls.

    The standard procedure is as follows:

    • it is necessary to dismantle all decorative cabinets, shelves and remove all furniture from the balcony; if the decoration will also be carried out on the external walls, then window sills and their fastenings should also be removed;
    • the walls should be cleaned from the old decorative coating as thoroughly as possible; if necessary, it is worth removing the old plaster to a bare wall;
    • with a chisel nozzle on a perforator, each crack should be treated, as if revealing; all cracks must be filled with repair compound;
    • primer should be applied to a bare wall; the first layer should dry, and then it is recommended to apply the second;
    • using a spatula, apply ordinary plaster to level the walls; it is better to use a cement composition;
    • with a wide paint brush, you need to walk along the walls to remove the remnants of the dry composition and dust that formed during the leveling.

    Preparation must be done carefully.

      When using the Venetian decorative plaster it is better not to align the walls, but to sew up with drywall. So you can get the perfect foundation for creating a beautiful design. After completing this step, you can proceed to decorating.

      Application Technique

      The interior decoration of the walls is initially carried out according to the standard scheme, regardless of composition. You can plaster immediately after the preparatory work.

      The application of decorative finishes is as follows:

      1. using a drill or mixer knead a homogeneous composition;
      2. on a trowel, a small amount of the composition is recruited and thrown on any part of the wall;
      3. level the layer with a wide spatula or a special grater, the layer should not exceed 3-5 mm; so they treat all the walls inside the balcony;
      4. the plaster begins to set, it is time to level it with a grater as carefully as possible;
      5. a decorative layer is applied, which will make up the external design, its thickness can vary between 0.5–2 mm; manufacturers usually indicate the recommended layer of plaster;
      6. form a relief.

      Design directly depends on the main material, because the texture can be different.

        Features of the formation of the relief are as follows:

        1. mineral plaster can simply be smoothed out with a plastic grater; beautiful grooves will form naturally;
        2. the bark beetle should be applied to the wall and leveled; the relief is formed during circular or longitudinal movements with a flat grater;
        3. Venetian plaster is applied to the base layer in very small portions; the composition must be immediately leveled in different directions, as a result, a translucent embossed haze is obtained;
        4. textured coating is formed with a brush, spatula with notches, sponges; any improvised materials can be used;
        5. folded plaster becomes embossed if you cover the wall with polyethylene, as a result, many different folds appear; the package is removed after the decorative layer hardens, the pattern will always be unique;
        6. texture plaster is made out by a roller, a stamp from rubber or polyurethane; Symmetrical patterns are created by acting on a still wet composition.

          Then you can paint the decorative coating to wait for drying.

          At this time, the temperature on the balcony should be at the same level.

          The exact drying time can be found in the instructions for the material. In conclusion, the walls are varnished. Waxing is not recommended; active rubbing may damage the plaster.

          Proper care

          Plastered walls do not require special care if coated with varnish. Simply wipe the surface with a damp cloth.

          If the wall is simply painted, then the features of care depend on the composition of the paint, namely:

          • water-based emulsion can not be soaked and rubbed strongly; rubbing with a slightly damp cloth without detergents is permissible;
          • Acrylic can be washed with wet bashing, but without much friction and chemicals;
          • walls with latex, alkyd or oil coating can be easily wetted and rubbed with the soft side of the sponge; non-abrasive, gentle detergents are allowed.
