Aquariums have always brought brightness and dynamism to the ordinary interiors of rooms and offices. But neither the green plants inside, nor the various houses and figurines had a special influence on this, and the striped aquarium fish were the abode of this very water world.

With their constant movement and color differences, they completely won the hearts of both experienced aquarists and people who are far from this science.

Who are minke whales?

Stripes are called such fish, which have in their color several colors necessary to hide in the wildlife world from predators. Currently, their true purpose has fallen away - now they are proudly decorating aquariums.

But for an artificial reservoir, only small fish matter. This is where the variations are almost endless. These include all familiar goldfish with yellowish-orange dyes, antichistrus catfish with brown shades and a long mustache, swordsmen, guppies, and many others.

Kinds

As already mentioned above, minke whales have the most diverse forms and species. They are distinguished by the conditions of detention, the type of feeding, the degree of activity, the ability to be in groups, and the external factor. Many are attracted to huge single fish with long tails and mustaches to the bottom, while others adhere to the rule "the more the better."

It is important to identify your purpose of keeping the aquarium and only then begin to choose the appropriate type.

Below is a list of the most popular classes of minke whales and brief information about them is given.

  • gold fish - the most popular of all other pets.It features a golden color and a luxurious veil-type tail. Certainly, she has come a long way in development, turning from silver crucian carp into a beautiful creature, now called by many “the mistress of the sea”.
  • Antsistrus - everyone knows catfish. There are several subspecies that differ from each other only in color and size. The smallest representative - red - is suitable for crowded keeping in the aquarium. In general, Antsistrus is a very useful fish.

A huge role is played by suction cups, with the help of which catfish can climb onto the walls of the aquarium, clean it completely, making it easier for the owner of the artificial reservoir.

  • Swordsman - the name of this resident of the aquariums happened for a reason. Their characteristic feature is the presence at the end of the tail fin, which is similar to a sword. They are quite shy, so you should keep them in a flock of 3 individuals.
  • Barbus - Here is an ideal option for those who like to watch the constant movement. It differs from all others in that it has three or four even black stripes on its body, bright red marks on the head and fins, a golden color on the sides. A small but flocking individual.
  • Guppy - who does not know these moving fry, constantly circling in a flock, regularly biting each other? Their differences are incredible. In aquariums you can see small guppies with short fins and ponytails. But do not forget about the moving body, radiating with active movement all the colors of the rainbow. But how magnificent are such representatives with wide tails, falling to the very bottom, floating with such grace and grandeur that you will envy.
  • Danio - small guppy-sized representatives. Most of them have a red or pink hue and float at the surface of the water. It should be remembered that such fish are usually kept in flocks, but the small size, as well as their characteristic natural feature, to stay at the water's edge make it possible to settle along with some other large fish. And yet the particular appeal of zebrafish is due to the fact that they are themselves luminous creatures.

One has only to see how their scales shimmer in a dark room!

  • Angelfish - A peaceful fish of wedge-shaped form. It has a small size and triangular fins with "ribbons" falling down. She is not very active, moves slowly, creating a "flying" image. It is because of him that foreign aquarists call her Angel Fish.
  • Zebra fish, or lion fish. By all means, this pet is one of the largest inhabitants of the aquarium: it weighs up to 1 kg. Studying it, you can see an incredible sight: large, with fins extending in different directions. It combines awesome grandeur with striped beauty - with a color resembling stripes at a zebra. But this beauty has its drawbacks: the zebra fish is poisonous, so it is strictly forbidden to touch it with your hands.
  • Leporinus striped - This is all known to us yellow fish with black stripes. Its color is quite simple and uncomplicated - the so-called bee. Has on its body up to 10 black stripes. A small (up to 20 cm) individual will look good among its brethren.
  • Cichlazoma - refers to the species of black-striped fish. It is a small fish with black stripes located throughout the body. The blue shades of this small underwater inhabitant are especially striking - it is as if lost in the water.

In fact, there are many more, so the choice can be quite large. Well, in order to finally decide, one should take into account criteria such as the size of the aquarium, water quality, type of feeding, and so on.

Size, aquarium interior and keeping fish

Most minke whales are themselves large representatives of their species. A tank of 10 liters will become unsuitable for their normal existence, therefore vessels for keeping scaly pets from 60 liters should be considered.

If the question arose about what kind of aquarium is worth buying, then it completely depends on the preference of the owner. It is more convenient for some to have diagonal, for others - vertical.

For yellow with black stripes and zebra fish, volume vessels larger than 80 liters should be purchased, because the individuals themselves are not small in size. If a zebra fish can live alone, then leperinuses are contained in the article, and it is important to choose this group correctly, because they are very pugnacious, which can not be said about guppies. These fish can exist in an aquarium with a volume of less than 60 liters. They have a fairly peaceful character and small size, which makes them unpretentious in caring for them.

Guppies are great for beginners. But to keep them in the neighborhood should be with those fish that are peaceful and not predators.

Cichlase contain separately, as they are very aggressive. In addition, it is advisable to settle them in pairs (male and female) in an individual aquarium or with representatives three or four times their size. But here one should not relax, since this couple can immediately attack the other inhabitants of the aquarium if they approach their habitat or offspring.

The classic option is to keep one or more goldfish in the aquarium. They are unpretentious in the care and feeding, which is a good plus for the breeder.

If you want to keep more than one species of fish in one aquarium, then the neighborhood of small peaceful fry of various shapes is perfect: guppies of all kinds, wedge-shaped scalars, shiny zebrafish. The main thing here is not to relocate the aquarium and to know that about 4 liters of water per one fish.

Particular attention should be paid to the factor of whether pets are: predators or herbivores.

For the most part, minke whales are omnivores. Guppies and a goldfish are only herbivores. The rest may well cause a sudden descent of the aquarium. Therefore, you should read all the necessary information about the type of fish you are buying and stock up on the required care items and food. But now this problem is almost irrelevant. In pet stores you can buy any food for any kind of waterfowl and do not worry about “making a ration” for your scaly pets.

Particular attention should be paid to zebra fish. It is extremely exotic, but at the same time quite dangerous. One touch of the thorns of this individual can lead to a sad outcome, and, unfortunately, such cases are still not uncommon.

Striped aquarium fish - ideal for those who want to diversify their office or room, while adding a lot of colors. A huge plus of these individuals is that the variation in the colors of their species only grows and changes endlessly many times, which once again gives rise to creativity.
